On the other hand, Rampage said the day after the Ninja Rua fight, that after watching the bout himself, he changed his mind and now believes he won. Rampage is a weird case, he can be humble (like when he lost to Sakuraba, years later right before the second Chuck fight, he said that it was his only loss he had no regrets about because the Gracie Hunter took everything Quinton threw at him and still won), and he can be very arrogant. He was also pissed off when Forrest Griffin won a decision over him, and wouldn't shut up about it. And when Matt Lindland, who was a weight class lighter than Quinton, lost a very controversial decision to him, Rampage scoffed at the idea that it was close. Quinton is pretty much the split decisions king, he's got 5 of them in his career, and somehow he's won every single one. Against Matt "The Law" Lindland, against Ninja Rua, against Murilo Bustamante, against Satoshi Ishii, and against Lyoto Machida. He also won a very controversial decision over King Mo in their first fight, every single media and pretty much everyone watching scored it for Mo, but Jackson somehow got the win... he would lose the rematch, which was weirdly a much closer fight than the one he officially won. (Mo won the first round, Jackson the second, and the third was a toss up) To summarize, Rampage did much better against Mo in the fight he lost, to the point that some even scored that one a draw Such a strange career.

I’ve been a boxer for most of my life. Round by Round makes sense in boxing and kickboxing, where there’s only striking because it keeps the criteria between two different rounds fairly consistent. In MMA that’s out the window, how can anyone say a round where a guy lay and prays on top of a guy is worth the same as a round where a dude clearly out strikes and causes more damage than the other guy but not so much so to deserve a 10-8. They both count as 10-9’s under current round by round scoring and they’re just not equal in terms of moving a fighter closer to a stoppage, which is what the goal of mma is supposed to be. Boxing and kickboxing both have a long history of defensive virtuoso performances and fighters who specialize in points victories. Since the dawn of mma that has never been the purpose and any fighter specializing in points victories in MMA is routinely faced with pure derision by fans and promoter alike, and rightly so.

I don’t think Jan thought he lost against ankalaev I think he was mad that while interviewing him and Magomed, Hoe kept saying that he thought Ankalaev had won and Jan angrily was saying if you think he won that just give him the belt. But people forget that the third round was close and could have gone either way, I personally gave the third to Jan so a draw wasn’t a bad decision
