Huge advantage over him, you're always moving, even when you're not. He stops and gives the outside foot angle, which makes striking very awkward for him. You always look for foot position before striking, it's just something that comes with experience.

Interestingly, I had a similar issue with regards to fully extending my arm when fencing back in the day. This one guy pointed it out and showed how he knew the distance and could avoid to within nearly an inch and then counter. After he showed me, he could almost never get away in time, and if he did I was always too far away for an easy counter. Awesome video btw. I've never watched any of Jedi's vids, but I'll have to check them out now.

There was a TV show once where a couple of MMA guys that travelled around the world to various traditional Martial Arts schools. They trained with their guys in their system, then sparred with their top guys. I forgot the name but how about something similar where you do the same here in various states. I have seen some very skilled and like super fast traditional strikers who don’t do necessarily do MMA. It will be fun to see you get some light rounds in with some of them.
