Sri Karinjeshwara temple is situated in a small village named Karinja in Bantwala Taluk of Dakshina Kannada District. The temple is situated on a hilltop, which has very mesmerizing and breath-taking views. The temple is said to be very old and is mentioned in all four Yugas.
Timings: 9am to 7:30 p.m.
Location: maps.app.goo.g...
The temple has a big pond at the bottom named Gadha Teerhta and two more ponds at the top named Ungusta Teertha and Janu Teertha, respectively. These ponds have water in them throughout the year. One has to climb around 400 steps to reach the top. In between are Parvathi and Ganapathi Temples.
One more special thing about this place is the population of monkeys. These monkeys are fed Naivedya after the afternoon pooja. It's popularly known as Vanara Anna Seve. Special poojas are conducted during Shivaratri, Bheemana Amavasya, and Navaratri as well.
