The devs vlogs and communication is definently whats kept me with the game. So important especially as one of many who quit Lost Ark PvP due to the lack of care.

New World is SOO much better than its reputation reflects. Since Launch they totally redid the main story quest up to level 40 and the Main story quest will be fully overhauled by the end of the year (October patch updates the level 40 to 50ish story). You can mostly just follow the main story quest and do other quests along the way to level up very smoothly. I started a new character and took time listening to the story and even reading the note scraps you find around the way and the story/lore of the world is quite good for any game, let alone an MMO. The lore also fits very solidly into the MMO genre where everything that dies comes back, but sometimes if you lose hope or are exposed to certain things, you might go mad and come back as more of a monster than a human. The combat feels just leaps and bounds better than other traditional (tab target type) MMOs. They've done a ton to update and improve the PVE stuff. There will be like 9 endgame dungeons when the expansion launches (some aren't always available because they are low level dungeons scaled up for mutations on a rotating basis). I would say the graphics and feel of combat New World is more inline with Destiny than with a fantasy MMO... kinda... because it is a fantasy game with both melee and ranged weapons after all instead of an FPS. The PVP is fun. The biggest issue is honestly the lower population of the game. If people come it'll only get better. They've also made tons of performance improvements and very impactful tweaks to weapon balance etc. Coming in October, they are also making a big improvement to the hated territory influence push. Also, just randomly last year they added this whole music performance skill... kinda like guitar hero. you can play solo songs or play songs in a band and get some very nice buffs. The mounts are also not just going to be a traditional mount that you just get and use right away. There's a whole skill system for mounts that you'll have to level up to improve their speed etc, and the horses will have different gear and food/buffs that'll change how they perform while riding. If you look at the amount of effort New World has done over the past 2 years and compare it with like any other MMO, you'd be impressed. Especially if you take into account the population of New world in the 10s of thousands versus other games with millions of players. It just needs another shot. Instead, everyone's playin 20 year old WoW content in hardcore mode with like zero effort put in by the devs. I wish New World was getting the recognition they deserve for the work they are putting out.

dang bro i had 300 hours when the game first came out, I've heard endgame has gotten better but I was one of the many that quit after like 3 months, ill try going from 1-40 again and see how it goes!

Maybe the price Is problem, gw2 now Is very very populat and It s literally free, i love It and i bought all DLC, bdo (2euro on steam) is succeeding again. 40 euro for this game Is too much in my opinion, Months ago, before playing gw2, i would try new world, but for the price, honestly, I've prefere to play other free mmo. lower the price to try the game, and earn money (for dev) with fashion DLC etc

@non_capisco_6327 I don't think so. Tons of people already bought new world and they've had lots of sales as well as several free weekends. Gw2 was a much bigger and more fleshed out game at launch. It also fully separated the pvp from the pve where new world didn't even intend to have quests and stuff until towards the end of development and they just didn't give it the time it needed. That's why they've been reworking the quests zone by zone for the past year while also developing new content. They didn't really know what they wanted the game to be when it launched, but I think they have a good direction now and are making it into something really nice... still not perfect, but much better than the numbers imply.

In my opinion the Devs communication, the next expansion and the direction the game is taking makes me think this is the best mmorpg out there. Its only 2 years old and mmorpgs tends to be at their best after way more years than that. I invited my friends and now we are 10 friends playing together. Also its the mmorpg that cost the less on top of having the best graphics, sounds and most importantly, the best and most fun combat mechanics ! so yea definitely awesome.

still lots of amazing experiences to be had in NW. There are games with massive crowd appeal like FF and WoW but NW is going to be the NIcHe pick for hardcore action-based PvP; and those of us dedicated to keeping up with pvp in NW -i think- are fine with that.

I reinstalled the other day, played an OPR and got spanked by someone in particular and wanted to see their build but then found out you STILL can't inspect a player. TWO years almost, you still can't inspect people or swim and PVP is still in a pretty grim state with no real incentives to want to play and very unbalanced. I wanted new world to succeed but I don't think their team is able to do enough month to month to keep players interested.

The MSQ has been being reworked in chunks. It was 1-20 first, then 20-40, and I think this last piece might be 40-50 or 55. They mentioned for S3 it won't be completely done to 60 but plan to finish it this year. I've done the 1-40 part recently and it was solid. Not terrible running around like it used to be. I think it took me a few days and it was enjoyable until i hit that 50ish spot where you go to eden grove.

I'm having a lot of fun with the great sword. You're absolutely spot on about questing. The story just isn't interesting. Wish they had lower level instance for PvP and it was a viable way to level. Or somewhat like BDO where you can just grind mobs... because combat can be fun and feels impactful. Great review!

Returning for the New World Expansion as a player since the official launch with 1400 hours in. Too bad there is a gear reset but it was necesaary to improve the gear variations and some balancing. Have started a new Character for the Expansion 🍾🙏🏽

I actually loved this game on launch initially. Me and my friends all started together joined syndicate and started our own guild. Thanks to one of my friends we actually became the strongest guild on our server. Even when server merges happened we reclaimed dominance. It was grindy and my fire mage got nerfed into the ground and i gave up. The end game content was lacking to say the least and sadly if you didnt know someone with some pull youd never see pvp. Im not sure ill ever return to this game but i enjoyed it while it lasted.

Admittedly the one if not the main reasons I’m not playing NW is the no mounts. They are adding them but for some reason I’m still not interested. Watching y’all’s steams the glam is awful as well 😂 so I’m glad to hear they are working on that as well. I won’t rule this mmo out but maybe something in the future will change my mind

For me it's the races. I'm human in real life, so I typically don't like playing them for escapism. I get some people do, they can see themselves in their character, I just want dwarves or elves and orcs....each their own. But the combat is really the saving grace of New World.

A big problem for New World is the ridiculous system requirements. I feel like it alienates a lot of people who don’t sit with a super computer that still only puts out 30 fps in wars. Even in lower settings its a problem.

I still get random and frequent crash-to-desktop (not even a LAG DETECTED warning) client fails on my (admittedly older) PC. No solutions suggested by their tech support has helped. It seems like AGS simply won't put the time ($) into optimization. I rarely try to push thru these frustrations to attempt to stay logged in. Not worth the struggle.

I actually started again recently after half a year break. I played more or less from the launch. I was one of them who waited for the servers to launch to claim the name I wanted. I was always enjoying the game even if it lacked content from the start but then again, I've been around when Ultima Online launched, when Anarchy Online launched, when World of Warcraft launched, when Age of Conan launched, when Warhammer Online launched. I think you get the picture. All MMORPGS lack content from the launch, it is always the same no matter how you remember it. Luckily I recently met some old gaming friends from 1990s (yes, we played online games even then) and learned that they are currently playing New World. Been a blast since.

I love new world. I wish more people played it and I wish they just had one giant mega server instead of these handful of servers with just 250-500 people on them. With the expansion, mounts has me extremely excited but I am also excited about the fact they’re making changes to the game that make things less tedious (crafting, gearing) I think the best way to “revive” the game is just continuing to listen to player feedback. Hoping they expand more on the endgame content as well and make towns seem more lively… introducing some sort of incentive or interaction into town taverns would be awesome!

@@youn18350I am not familiar with server management at all. I do think that having cloud servers (which i am pretty sure is what NW has) makes things more cost efficient and easier. I think there should be just one mega server for each region, like NA, EU, SA, etc. A main MMO i played, SWTOR, went from a ton of servers to just 2 servers in the NA region.

Nice video! I played at launch, steadily for several months, then a bit of a break, played steady again since Brimstone Sands - then got my spouse into the game. We enjoyed playing together, but the quests aren't really tailored to duoing, and neither one of us does PVP. Currently only logging in for a few daily tasks, then logging out. On the fence with regard to the 'Rise of the Angry Earth' - it looks great, but in terms of new systems to engage and retain, it's less certain for me. Look forward to getting more information on particulars that haven't yet been disclosed by the devs, and/or other player experiences/feedback.

I tried getting back into NW 4 times this week. Every time, I would just log in, look at the map and just uninstall. The most I’ve done was start to run to Brimstone, get about 500 meters before my finger started hurting from holding down W and just say “F this”

Hi I’m new to the channel! I was an og New Worlder however I did play in the brimstone expansion. Truthfully I would play more but the cpu usage on this game is crazy however it is the reason I’m updating my cpu and motherboard which is probably another reason many don’t play. I love this game I loved it when it first came out because of the pvp! Fighting open world to opr was nice a lot of ppl quit because there wasn’t a lot of content then after grinding to hit 60 it felt like all you could do was opr which you’d wait hours to get into bc there weren’t many 60s. Now tho this game has come a long way and I think the ogs should give it another chance. It is a great game I enjoy playing it even when I just want to chill for whatever reason fishing is so enjoyable lol having a mount now is going to put a lot of ppl at ease. Let’s be honest no one likes a running simulator. I hope ppl give it the chance it deserves. You can tell the devs care about this game and it’s community.

They know that asian desperately ask for a server or 2 for better ping, and there might be complications from their side but they could at least put some announcement so that the asian players could either wait for the future or just cut them off from their hopium that asian server comes some day.

I have about 2.4k hours in NW. This game was released about two years too early. I would say that after the expansion is launched, the game will be where it should have been at launch. Gearing will be much easier and more of the MSQ will be done. If you've never played it and want to try it out, I would wait until the expansion is out. That being said, the profession grind can be rather long as there are a lot of professions to level. If you are one of those types of players that loves to craft stuff, NW has that in spades. If you are PVP focused, the content consists mainly of arenas and OPR. IMHO their pvp content focuses mainly not on maps or match styles but in which weapons you choose to use. AGS NEEEEEEEEEEEEEDS to make more OPR maps. Literally every single pvper has been asking for more OPR maps since launch. Its coming up on the two year anniversary since NW launched and we're still playing the same OPR map.

I've been playing since launch. strictly PVE. 90% solo. I recently started a new character because I found the end game for PVE to get boring, and I thoroughly enjoy the grind of not just going through the levels but also the grind of maxing out all crafting areas.

i think you underestimate the pull of mounts in an mmo. a big streamer will review NW xpac and lots of people will return or try out the game. definitely will never reach the original launch numbers, but i would bet NW doubles in population after expansion release. UNLESS... its full of bugs and glitches. That would be the nail in the coffin

I just started, at lvl 51 rn. The grind isnt the best but since u level from trade skills(my skinning and tracking is over 200 because it was power leveling me) i dont think its that bad. I reached over 900 CP on eso twice(xbox and playstation) which took forever but the grind was definitely more enjoyable especially since battlegrounds was available for low levels. BDOs grind to 63 suckkkkeeedddd. Following the same route for hours on hours. Animations and abilities are cool but it gets soooo boring

I like New World and think it's alot better than what people say about it, but has it's issues(some that have been there since launch), like this new expansion seems pretty big with alot of changes and they can't even drop events without them being broken, and I don't mind paying for expansion or even a monthly sub but they always drop stuff that doesn't work or cause exploits and now have to pay for an expansion to get back (some)content that we already had paid for it seems like, still going to try it out cause I do really like this game and hope I am wrong and also won't be surprised if I'm disappointed.

What I got from this video and everyone's comment, is that the game is finally feeling like a game that reach its time to officially launch. I played the last beta before launch while having pre orderer the game in 2021. A few days before the launch, my beta experience made me feel really unsure about the game, I canceled my pre order. I was right. There just wasn't enough polish on anything. Copy paste areas, copy paste mobs, blend and boring quests (copy paste also between zone, how surprising), so much running that took like half of your play time if you wanted anything achieved, massive bugs and exploits... I was honestly burned out before lvl 30. Honestly, New World lacks (lacked ?) identity gameplay wise outside of combat. And just interesting things to do if you are not the kind of person to chop trees for 3 hours. Yes the lore is unique. The rest is basics and boring as it can be. As far as my opinion goes, thats due to the fact it started as a full pvp hardcorish game. But people dont want that despite the loud community elitists claiming that's the dream of MMO community. Its not (even I had to open my eyes to that, cause i've been begging for such a game for very long. They just never work, and for reasons many youtubers talk about better than i can). So we all know, the devs back tracked. But they had no time to do it for launch, therefore behold all the boring PVE quests and all for a game that wasn't really suppose to have conventional PVE. Game needed like 2 to 3 years to go in this new direction. By not doing so and launching anyway, it shot itself in the stomach and bled quickly. Now, its very hard to change someone's opinion after such a bad launch with such a mediocre gameplay state. I feel like most of players for the first month felt like beta testers. Only they had to pay 50 bucks. And that's something I'm sick of as of todays gaming industry. I may change my mind with october's new expansion. I really want to try to get back to New World, just to see if the experience is better. But to be fair, I have a blast on GW2 since i revisited it for 6 months now after never playing after 2014. And I know many players have their MMO, be it FF14, BDO, TESO... New world has to earn back player trust. And thats hard. Not impossible, but hard. We are just flooded with games. But for a average 20 to 30 year old, you don't have time to quietly play BG3 with your brother like 2 to 3 hours twice to thrice a week, while playing some GW2 which has massive content, and occasionaly playing something else for fun. New world has to take the place of something already there. So it had to be very good.

Spent ~400 hours on release. Came back after Brimstone. Tried 3v3 arenas. Looked into the grind. Saw the same zerg routes in high lvl zones. Quit again. There are really good improvements from what was presented at launch, but it still feels they have no clear vision on what NW is or should be. Few examples: From PVP focused, craft everything yourself game to a generic theme park MMO during a development. World is massive, teleporting was expensive (I can agree, a bit too expensive) but there was a cubic f*ck ton of items to gather on your way. Now? They have teleportation portal every 5 steps and made it dirt cheap. Inventory management including banks and houses was tedious. Solution? Make it all irrelevant and use different towns as "tabs" for your items I guess. They had a huge opportunity here to make some caravan systems for both faster traveling and moving resources, maybe including some PVP in this. Having just a few dungeons was so boring at the beginning. Especially when there was no point to replay any of them except the highest tier one. Solution? Mutations? Makes you farm more dungeons so you can farm more dungeons to farm more of the same dungeon later. Why not make a difficulty harder in a different way than just adding "monsters now do acid damage, so go make a new set of gear with acid resistance"?? that will last a week before mutations switch and now it's not acid, it's blight. In short - a generic theme park MMO with an outstanding world, sound, lighting design. And crafting did get waaaaaay better. But who was the genius to make this game with such a glorious crafting system and at first no way to trade your crafted items and even up till now - every person can master every craft??? Allowing one person to master only a single crafting would spice up the economy so much. Now everyone does everything them selves. Sorry for a long rant, but this game could have been so much more. And there's no way in hell it will come back from the disaster the first 6 months it was. I wonder how long will AGS be willing to burn money on this. Or are they assuming these past few years just a development of the core game with live servers?

Good overview. They have made a lot of improvements. There are also still a number of issues. Open world PvP is still, basically, non-existent. OPR and arena are still, at best, ok (there's good and bad to each of them, plus they still are so all over the place with balance, nothing gets fine tuned, just *bam*, big changes (well, last time I played, haven't played for 3-4 months now, just pop in to check things out)) Now, if itching to play an MMO and bored of whatever you were playing, sure, give NW a try. It has many fun elements and maybe end-game will click for you but I still think because of how end-game works (and how so many interesting features of NW are just tossed aside at end-game) that this is still a niche MMO. But with Ashes maybe launching in 2025... I might give NW a serious go again.

Openworld pvp is never a good thing unless you can opt out of it. We literally have seen this time and time over the years. Most mmorpg's out there keep PvE and PvP separated. And don't fix what isn't broken. When pvp is done in arenas or specific regions, it gives player a choice. That is the key factor. Choice that let's player decide how they want to play the game. With or against the other players.

I would go back to New World if they fixed the marketplace and opened up territory control as a persistent state of war instead of something that companies find time for on their schedule. I haven't played for quite awhile but, I really think if they wanted to bring some players back they should have added this next expansion for free, then start thinking about charging more for their game. The game itself really doesn't offer a lot for the initial cost and BS wasn't much more IMO, it literally took a couple of days to play out all BS had to offer. Just IMO with all the bugs and dupes and other things they put the players through, I think they could have at least made the expansion with mounts free, I think that might have brought back a lot of players who left the game, plus added a lot of new paying customers that they could charge later down the road. I really think they needed to put out at least one expansion that works from the day you download it, instead of them having to go months patching the release until it is playable. With that they could say see we can do it right, and then start charging for new content from there on out.

To answer your question, let's first understand why New World almost lost 100% of player base since release. - Bugs - Desync - No direction (game tries to be both PvE and PvP game and while attempting to be as such, it fails in both domains, heavily) - Horrible repeatable game loop - Open chests 24/7 and do some dungeons - Absolutely horrendous RNG system, for both, loot and crafting, which leads to endless meaningless grind - Any many other, less relevant things Now, will players return? - Was desync fixed? No. - Does the game offer better direction now then e.g. 2 years ago? No. PvP is still in a horrible state, with still a single OPR map, and I'm slowly starting to believe that New World is slowly but surely shifting to a PvE game. - Is game loop better? No. Still same content, same chest runs, with more dungeons to do. Overall, no, people will not come back because now they can do racing with their mounts. People will not come back because there's a new zone that you will appreciate for couple of weeks. And even if people DO come back, it will last for 3-4 weeks, and they will be gone again. The new patch (expansion) has no content that will retain players. It might bring back many for a short period of time and make them spend 30$, but for an MMO, that doesn't mean anything. This game needs better gearing systems (sure, they are working on that), it needs better direction for both, PvE and PvP players, so you know why you are farming your gear, and a lot of other stuff.

You are correct New World is trying to fix things, but here is the issue. Think of it as the wheel. The wheel is not new, it has been out for years. New World came out with a game with so many bugs in it that it was not funny, they have lied so many times to the player base it is not funny. How long are you going to stay with your women when she says the kids is yours but you never had sex with her? These lies for me are game breaking. I might not like the truth, but I HATE it even more when I find out you lied to me. They had the Sausage Bug that took time for them to fix. Brother that bug was found in 2014 in WOW. This is what I am saying about the wheel. Games are out there where people already had issues, but they did not learn from them they just made the same one over and over again. That is when I looked into their Devs. NONE of them had been a Dev on an MMO ever. Most of them had NEVER been a Dev at all. Sorry but for me it was like the blind leading the blind at this point. Then there was the mass reporting that banned players and they NEVER gave a reason as to why the ban only you break the TOS. I am sorry but if I paid money for a game you better give me a reason and proof that shows me breaking the TOS and not just we said so and you have not recourse. I have seen games like RUST where the Devs can go invisible and recorded bannable things to show the person that was doing them. I dont know what they can or cant do but something has to be done if I am going to pay money for something and then your going to take it away from me and say just cause we said so. I mean they are not my daddy. My whole guild stopped playing and we where like you PVP due to all the issues and the mass reporting just before a PVP battle. TOXIC is not an understatement. The game is very beautiful to look at, but with all the bug and stuff that they need to fix with the game and the way they handle their player base I would not play the game if it was free. And I am not even going to start in on the KNOWN AIMBOT issues in that game. The game is full of cheaters not real gamers. That is why real gamers dont play it. They know it is nothing but SHITE. But it does look good.

I think that it was either the programmers did not know how to work in Lumberyard. Or Lumberyard could not do what they wanted it to do for the game, being an old Game Engine I am hoping that it is the latter. The PVP cheats and everything that went on is what killed 2 of the guilds I was in to the point that I just became a PVE player and crafter, but even then it was bad with other gathering guilds reporting you and placing camp sites down on spawn points. Then all the gathering bots running around and not getting banned no matter how many times they where reported.
