What I wore in a week - all 25 outfits! by Personal Stylist Melissa Murrell

Hello again!
So I was asked by one of my lovely subscribers to do a vlog of all the outfits I wore in 1 week and boy have I had a varied week! One minute it was raining and I was needing workwear for horrible weather and the next it was really hot and I was out with 6 children at a theme park!!!
As a result this video covers everything from outfits for bbq's, the gym, client visits, dog walks and even a ski trip to the Snow Dome - very random I know, but probably not unlike many a working mum out there!
I've been styling 'real women' for over 20 years so hopefully this video should give you some tips and styling inspiration for your own random lifestyle needs!

Catching up on some older videos, and this is such a great one! Loved the part where you went through the process for picking your outfit for the day at the park. That really drove home the importance of having lots of neutral tops. Also made me realize a big part of the reason I feel like I never have the right thing to wear is the wide range of activities and temperatures I need to dress for. Hi Karin. I've just filmed a UK Size 16 lady who is 5ft 1 so a lot of the rules for dressing her will be relevant to yourself. That video should be up next week at some point. If you're an hourglass you just have to make sure that you don't disturb the natural balance. x

Hi Karin. I brought them in a size small and yes they do stretch with wear. I think i may have mentioned in the video that the button holes feel like they may stretch a little too much but they are so comfy that i kept them anyway and if the button holes do stretch then i'll take them back! the only true way is to wear a thong i'm afraid. A good half way measure is a Brazilian pair of pants but if the fabric is too thin you'll still see them - thong all the way in most cases i'm afraid 😬

How do you create your basic palette of colours if neutrals are not your colours? Mine are cool colours. Thank you!

I have the same problem! Can’t wear beige , cream whites not great either , I also have cool toned skin & hair.

Good question. If you watch my ‘how to develop a capsule wardrobe’ video I think I explain it there but in short as long as you have 1 neutral colour as part of your basics then you can pick (for example) blues (includes all shades), greys, burgundy as your 3 base colours then the white will bring them all together. You don’t have to wear that one neutral colour (white for eg) close to your face and if it does come up to your neckline layer it with a darker base colour and pop on a necklace and you’ll be able to wear it. Trust me, I’ve never in over 20+ years of styling found someone who can’t wear a neutral colour - it’s just where you put that colour on their body. I hope that helps x

What strapless bra do you recommend? I really struggle to find a decent one!

Hi Andrea. It depends on your sizing. If you’re anything from an A-D cup then I find Boux Avenue are reasonably priced, they come in padded and non padded versions and are pretty comfortable. If you’re any bigger then getting fitted at somewhere like Bravissimo seems to work for many of my clients. If budget isn’t an issue then there’s many boutiques but it depends on where you are in the country as to which one I’d recommend. Hope that help, thanks for watching!!

Yes, tight everywhere is definitely an out dated look. Try it, you've got nothing to lose. x

Sorry but its necessary when taking quick photo's . Let me explain and it may help you to understand...KZbin isn't my main job, I'm a Personal Stylist out with clients everyday so filming these videos has to happen in the evenings or a weekend so unlike normal 'influencers' who do this during the day i'm squeezing these in-between a full time job, 2 kids, dog and husband!! That said, you're watching an old video and i've since invested in a lot of equipment so it doesn't happen during filming now.
