Thank you Mr Beef for your thorough comments and presentation. KZbin has trained me on Ford diesel repairs and on John Deere tractors. Without content by generous folks like you, the experience and learning would be much more frustrating. The 455 (1147 hours) is a perfect match for my needs. I am installing a Little Buck loader and rear weight box [cobbled together with steel strut (as used in electrical construction)] on it while continuing to use it for mowing with the mighty 60" deck. Thanks again!

I have a 445. Would grading a gravel drive with a box blade/3 point setup be ok while running the standard “turf” tires? I have loaded ag tires for winter but would rather not change back and fourth constantly. Also is there any negatives to the reugg brand hitches? They make both cat 0 and 1 I think not sure if it would matter for my intended use. Thanks for the vid I like this channel 👍🏻

Is a hydraulic top link out of the question for the cat 0 hitches and 4x5 series?
@mmrbeef3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think so, you just have to source the correct cylinder and then run the valve and hydraulic lines. A cat 0 length cylinder is going to be the hardest part to source. You might have to work with a welding shop to get the proper ends on it.

This is a great video! Now I know what all those extra parts are for...the spring clip for the depth adjustment and the strap and spacer for the lift stop. I know what I'm doing this weekend! BTW, has anyone found a good way to secure the taillight lenses in these 4x5 tractors? Both mine are constantly at the point of falling out. I'm going to get new ones, but the general clip-in design just seems bad to begin with. I'm thinking maybe a bit of clear silicone around the edge to seal them and keep water and debris out of there.

I have a X475 and I’m looking for a three point. Do you know which one I should get? I looked on eBay and didn’t see too much. I don’t feel like buying the wrong one. You seem to know quite a bit about this type of stuff. Thanks in advance
@mmrbeef3 жыл бұрын
There are some different options for a 3 pt on this machines. Deere has a Cat 0 and Cat 1 option. There are also after market options like Reugg Mfg. that sells Cat 0 and Cat 1 options. Cat 1 opens up a broader market for rear attachments BUT it’s a limited a Cat 1 so the lift height is less - something to consider with taller attachments.

I grew up on a 445, love them. I just bought a clean Jd 445 end of 2019 with a 3 pt hitch on it (missing top link). When I go up and down with hydraulics my 3 pt hardly moves much. How do you get more stroke out of it? Is it that threaded rod on lift side?
@mmrbeef4 жыл бұрын
The threaded rod is a good place to start. The more you thread the rod out the lower the 3 pt will fall.

@mmrbeef3 жыл бұрын
About the best place to find a 3pt hitch assembly for a closed from tractor is going to be on Craigslist, Facebook, or a forum like WFmachines. You can occasionally find them on eBay but most folks don't want to deal with shipping them.

Is a 54 4 way blade with a little surface rust, with metal bolt on sides, for $400 a good deal?

Where I am 54 inch 4 way blades for 318 and that go for around 700 average for a good one but some of the ones in mint shape sell for 900 or more. $400 isn’t to bad but I’m not sure when it comes these newer ones like this

So what do the flat plates that bolt onto the frame do? My three point didn't come with them. Are they needed? They look like they just lock the 3 point in one place. Otherwise good info. Thanks.

Is your 3 point an OEM unit or is it an aftermarket kit?
@jodys.62744 жыл бұрын
@@mmrbeef I bought it used and it is an OEM. I found the (frame reinforcement plates at my dealer) along with the bolts required. I went to hook up the three point quick hitch that I bought and found it will not work. Pins on quick hitch are too big and spread is too wide. I'm thinking the JD is a cat 0 and my quick hitch is 1 or 2. Does anybody make a cat 0 quick hitch? Or can I modify my cat o to a cat 1 or 2? This is all new to me and I'm learning as I go. Open to ideas. Thanks, Jody.

I might be missing something, have you done a video on the range of the 3 point on the 425, 445, 455 how high and low etc. Would you recommend cat 0 or cat1 for a 455? I seem to see more attachments for the cat 1, although I’m not sure wether the 455 could handle the slightly heavier implement...This was a very informative video! Thanks!
@mmrbeef4 жыл бұрын
I have not do a video like you mentioned. Probably should add something like that to the list of videos I need to do!! For a 455 I think a Cat 1 hitch is fine. Be careful when shopping for attachments though, so of the farm store type Cat 1 attachments are a bit big for something like the 455. Also, as with most rear implement make sure you have some weights on the front of the machine.

Hi. I am trying to find a good used cat one three point hitch for my 2004 John Deere X575 do you know where I could find one for under $350.00?
@mmrbeef5 жыл бұрын
A cat 1 3 point is going to be tough to come by for $350. Considering new they are running well over $600 now. The last couple used one I know that sold were right at $500 as complete kits. I am sure they are out there, just going to have to search for a little bit to find what you are looking for. Good luck! Ruegg has kits for $475 plus shipping. new.rueggmfg.com/hitchkits.php

I watched one of your videos a while back and you were installing a rear PTO and clutch. I don't remember if you were missing something or what but I haven't see the conclusion. I have a 1984 430 diesel and I have been looking for a complete PTO kit for it to no avail. I have the front mid and rear PTO toggles. I want to hook up a roto tiller and some on forums have said to skip the PTO and run a hydraulic tiller. I don't know if that is a real option, but again even with that I can't find one over 30" that doesn't need rebuilt and someone doesn't want an exorbitant amount for! I am almost to the point I am going to put an after market loader on the front and a 48" box with rippers on it. I don't plan on mowing with it, I have a zero turn with a 60" deck and the tractor is only 50". I just want to maintain the ditches on my property and smooth out some places here and there. You seem to be the most knowledgeable person I have found. Any suggestions?
