Have you dealt with a wobbling loose tilt steering column on a 455? Tearing into mine this spring, wondering if you have done this. Subscribed, thank you for the videos.

I don't have a video on something like that.... but most likely the steering shaft is worn out and needs to be replaced. It's a designed wear component to make sure the steering valve doesn't have to be replaced due to wear.

Are there any other 3 point hitches that will fit the 420 other than just for that one. Any helps appreciated. Thanks for your great films they help a lot. I'm having troubles with creeping any suggestions

There are a couple different 3 points for the 420. The OEM Deere 3 point, the Ruegg 3 point, and the Redlandhill 3 point. I would choose the OEM or the Ruegg three point over the Redlandhill. Creeping fix will really depend on your hydro linkage. Sometimes you can adjust the creep out and other times you will just have to inspect all the components.

@@mmrbeef thanks for the information, I'll check into the 3 points and see if I can find a plow also. I'll need to locate the adjustments for the creeping, it's a 1990 so I hope it's by the rear since I read theres a adjustment on the forward reverse handle area. I'm making headway on it but would like to get a used 318 later. Thank you

That really sucks for who ever bought the loader. Those mounts are really hard to find separately. Like the lugs for the 45 loader mount setup. Did it come with that heavy hitch too or did you have that already? Doesn’t look like it would be too hard to cut out the round tube and weld in the 2in square tube in those mounts. Not sure it’s worth it given the value of the mounts stock. If it were me, I’d use them as a template to make custom mounts for the 45.

I got the impression that the person buying the loader knew exactly what they were doing, if you know what I mean.... The buyer paid less than $600 for the loader and I'm guessing he/she thought that they were just going to take the frames off the 455... but that is not how it was sold. :P I have done some measuring and I don't think my plan will work very well... but its worth a shot to dry fit everything and then decide. Who knows, maybe the loader buyer will get a chance at the loader brackets after all. Haha. I've had the Cat 0 Heavy Hitch for several years, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to. I need a Cat 1 heavy hitch....

Have you run across any 44 loaders for 420 JD garden tractors recently?

I do not see them very often. Any 44 loader will work, its the mounting frames that are the hard part to find.

I have a 455 and a 425 both have bad radiator tanks, the plastic is all broken , JD wants 1100$ Canadian. Any idea where I could get aftermarket? Please help🙏

Have you tried eBay or Facebook? International shipping might be very expensive but you could order a used one and be economical.

Not sure yet, I need to get it cleaned up and inspected and then give it a test run before I can comment too much on price.

i have a guy selling one for $1800 he 46 min away no side cover or grill has a rear pto all wheel steer he said he got a 3 point for but doesn't know if it fit what you think good deal

It really depends on what you are looking for, a good running and driving 455 with a good deck is well worth $1800, even with poor cosmetics.... but cosmetics cost $$ and in the case of these machines a general rule of thumb I use is a nice condition 455 with good cosmetics is equal to or less expensive than a poor condition 455 that needs to be fixed up. My current 2001 455 with less than 500 hrs I bought for $1500 and then spend ~$1200 fixing it and then another $550 on new stuff for it - 3 point, PTO etc. So I have $3250 in it.... and I probably could have purchased a sub 1000 hr 455 for the same price at that time.

I need to inspect/replace the fuel pump on my 455 but I can't get the cap off, any suggestions?

The cap on the fuel tank? Those are typically a big pain to get off. I generally use a large pair of channel locks... the biggest pair you can buy in Lowes.
