NOTE! The before and after measurements are not meaningfull other than a bit of a comparison. The car has not been driven when the monoblocks were installed so the before reading is invalid. We will only know the real world difference once I have taken the car for another spin around the block, which i cannot do till i fit the axle shafts. The front end was way too low after the first drive and illegal at the sway bar, ie less than 100mm.

For those unaware, the monoblocks will be refurbed later when money permits.... Have not decided on final choice of tire size yet either, I will be interested to see how these admittedly bald 225/45/r17's work. I do have the amg front fender spacers installed.

Hi Mate Your car looks amazing, I've got a 300E and my cars front end is also very low i was wondering where did you get these pads from? I also live in Australia.
@georgeballow7028Ай бұрын
Enjoyed your video. Funny, most suspension jobs involve lowering the tide height. Keep those pads, one day the greenies will force everyone to lower their cars for fuel efficiency.

I purchased Lesjofors springs made in Sweeden for my 1987 300E and the rear is sitting way too high but a set of monoblocks will make it look better.
@MMWA-DAVE3 жыл бұрын
the rear end of my blue black 124 has always sat miles too high even with a full tank. I would like to bring it down. That 124 has 3 notch pads in the rear and 2 notch pads at the front. I might look for 1 notch pads for the rear and fit the 1 notch pads on the front i now have spare and see what that looks like with the stock springs.

@@MMWA-DAVEThose spring pads are amazing. 33 years of driving and the original pads are still in good shape. I would love to compare them with chinese made ones.

Is that possible to fit 205 70 15 ofroad tyres on 15 inch rims? Would it rub?
@MMWA-DAVE3 жыл бұрын
it might rub - previous owner of red had 205/65/15's on it as they are a dime a dozen taxi size here. There were rub marks in the wheel wells. I have 205/60/15's on my blueblack 124 and there is no rubbing at all. Your speedometer will also read incorrectly

how does that ride height law work with cars that leave the factory with less than 100mm clearance?
@MMWA-DAVE3 жыл бұрын
Matt Teee Are there cars lower than that from the factory? Plenty of people disobey the law its only checked if a police officer pulls you over and checks it. The other time its checked is when the car is inspected for registration- i have to do this so the car has to be kosher.
@LOOPRUNBUNKER Жыл бұрын
In South Australia the police cars at the time didn't pass the 100mm test so the rule was abolished and a new rule allowed only a certain distance between the centre of the wheel to the highest point of the wheel arch. This is called "eyebrow height". Each model of car has it's own specific height listing. This rule also posed challenges as a lot of grey import cars did not have a listing. Police can now issue a defect notice to a car on "suspicion of too low". It really is a backwards place we live in. People joke about Australia being upside down and to be honest they're not far from the truth.

Another comment: It has been an odyssey to get the right springs here on the aftermarket. Really no dealer knows what he's selling. With the HSN/TSN it is impossible to get the right springs. Also when you're having the right part number with the right colors, they're selling different springs.
