Brand new Husq 125 vacuum, brand new from box and authorized store, had bogging upon applying the throttle then slow ramp up. I already know how to adjust and tune the carb. Believe the high speed screw was only 3/4 out from the factory. I retuned both the low and high perfectly so that it provides instant response upon instant trigger pull, just like all my other equipment I tuned. I can only imagine how a regular customer feels when they spend $250-$300 on a name brand small engine to find it runs like crap out of the box.

I fully agree with that. As much as product’s cost it should be running like a champ when new.

I have the exact same trimmer. Mine was bad right out of the box. Looks like this is a common issue . The directions say not to touch the carb screws, they have been adjusted at the factory. Well, this is crap. You are being forced to buy a splined screw driver that was made just for these carburetors. After watching KZbin videos about this problem, I bought the screwdriver, adjusted the high side of the carb and now my trimmer works like it should. It's been running on half choke for 2 years . Finally got to turn the choke off. Piss poor quality on Husqvarna factory inspectors.

Thanks for the helpful video, especially the comment that the adjustment was not a long lasting solution. I've been using this same 128LD trimmer and a 125B blower at a relative's home I take care of and both have the exact same problem. Searching online for repair info, it's obvious this is a very frequent issue with Husqvarna, at least for the homeowner products. The blower eventually wouldn't run at all and I've already replaced the carb and fuel lines. I will try to clean and rebuild the original carburetor, but this should not be such a common problem. Carburetor adjustments can harm the engine if not done correctly, and I suspect most people who own these will not want to take them apart and will have to bring them to a shop for repair. Ethanol gas also seems to disintegrate the fuel lines so using canned fuel might be worth the expense if you are just trimming around a house for a few minutes at a time. I've had much better luck with a different brand and wouldn't recommend these models.

I fully agree with you. I would not recommend one of these to anyone. This model is still at the $200 dollar mark online.

I must be lucky. Bought a new carb for it. The low idle is fine, trimmer head does not spin. The high speed sound correct. Mine had bern stored withow octane fuel which whacked the fuel lines and the diaphram in the carb. The tune up kit that included a newcarb, fuel lines, filter, etc works great. I have changed to the Husqvarna 95 octane canned fuel. The trimmer now runs like it should. Great trimmer. Tip. Use higher octane fuel and drain the fuel when storing.

I was kind of on the fence over using canned premixed fuel until I picked up a trimmer from a gentleman that went electric. He gave me a couple half full cans of it since he didn’t have a use for it. I used it in a blower and a trimmer and they ran really well on it. It’s just hard for me to spend $8 for a can of it. The Husqvarna in this video is getting to the point of needing the carb adjusted every other time you use it. It will be getting a new one soon.

@@GenerationX1971I agree. However, a can of gas lasts me a growing season. Considering the videos and trials I went through, in my case the can of fuel is worth it. I came close to pitching this thing. Glad I didn't. Thanks for the video.

@@kcjazzcat7822 I was reading in a forum not to long after we got this and people were saying the carbs on this model had issues straight from the factory. Some people took them back for an exchange and said they still had the same problem. If ours didn’t get used so much I would be more likely to stick to the canned fuel. We’ll go through couple gallons of 2 cycle in no time.

I’ve got the 128ld. It has never ran properly. I have a yard man. But use it to trim the few high places when he’s running late. Have been dealing with this two years now! Thanks. Is there a size on that tool you used? Oe any identifying markers?

There are a few different style tools out there. You can pick up a variety kit on Amazon for about $12. I think mine was either the 21 spline or the D shaped one. If your able to see down in the plastic good enough you’ll be able to tell for sure.

Have had mine for 4-5 years now. Mine needs a tune up and is doing the dark oil thing. It’ll actually drip out the exhaust after use and sitting on its side. I think my gas/oil mix was too heavy on the oil. I was eyeballing the batch.

Hope they didn’t charge you since they said nothing was wrong with it. That’s how we ended up with this one. Was purchased new started running really bad. Lots of people purchase items just because of the brand name including myself. For instance a guy I do work for on the side has a Stihl trimmer that’s got some years on it now and runs like a champ. He’s a big fan of Stihl products. So many products are built overseas now cheap as possible to save money which I get. It’s all about profit and saving money for a business. But why would you toss out a unit that has issues straight out of the box? There’s a bunch of videos on this trimmer with the same problem. I see them online used for sale people saying like new but can’t keep it running.

@@GenerationX1971 i bought the husky because i was tired of getting a few months out of the cheap ones. 6mo in and the husky started this crap. I bought a cheap craftsman 25cc to use while I got the husky running. That was 4 years ago, I liked the craftsman so much more i never cared to fix the husky. 4 years later I checked compression on the craftsman for fun, 130psi!! I have a TON of hours on that cheap thing and it just keeps going... about 5hrs a week for 4 years.. Sad ain't it? China mtd vs a husky and the China wins

@@GenerationX1971 Thank you sir...I purchased an after market carb from Amazon, sure is tricky getting her to run like she used to! My LD128 is about 8 years old, I cut 5-10 yards a week and she has been a great trimmer. I have brush blade, hedge trimmer, pole saw, tiller attachments that fit perfectly. I thought about buying a new Husq, but the newer models that accept attachments have a different hosel than the LD so none of my attachments would fit :(
