I have the same trimmer and I’ve gotten a new carb for it as I was didn’t feel like rebuilding the old, but it won’t start unless on half choke and when it does it won’t take any throttle. Any idea what could be the problem

Crack in fuel line, clogged fuel filter or missing or torn carb gasket

If it only runs on half choke then it needs more fuel. Open the hi 1/4 to half turn and see if it gets better.

@@TheGreasyShopRag In my search for trouble shooting this trimmer I crossed a help video that talked about a part that may inhibit power causing sluggish running of the trimmer. But I don't remember who's video. I thought it might be you. It was around the clutch area, he specificly pointed that out. Are there any pick ups, coils, relays in that area that you know of? Anything? I remember a beard on the man but he was older. Much like my memory.

@@TheGreasyShopRag Thank you. Would that cause no power, no RPM's? It cuts a blade of grass per minute, exagerated, but that's how slow it spins. I'm also thinking a pin hole in a fuel line or a defective muffler, from the factory, clogged? I'm trying anything.

I have the same Model trimmer. After a new carb, new fuel lines, new fuel filter and new plug it still does what it did before. starts ok, after it warms up runs ok but after a few seconds of full throttle it simply shuts off like you hit the kill switch. Bad Coil?
@TheGreasyShopRagАй бұрын
It could be the coil but before you spend that money try loosening the gas cap while running to make sure the tank vent isn't the problem.

I put a new spark plug, air filter, fuel filter and carburetor on mine. It still stalls when choke is off.
@TheGreasyShopRag4 ай бұрын
Some possibilities include carb adjustment, hole in fuel line, air leak in engine, heavy load on engine(scored cylinder, bad bearing or bad clutch spring). Another thought is to confirm proper choke operation. That choke lever can get wonky.

I have that same trimmer, on a cold start, full choke it sounds louder, which is not normal, then half choke very high rpms and the trimmer head is spinning like crazy which also is not normal. Then when I take it off choke low rpms, then after adjusting the idle mixture screws to the correct rpms (3000), then pulling the trigger to reving it up it revs up perfect but after releasing the trigger it idles high around 4000rpms then the rpms will slowly decrease then it will shut off. I have replaced it with two carburetors, new fuel filter and fuel line hoses and a new spark plug. What would you suggest I try next?
@TheGreasyShopRagАй бұрын
It sounds like it may have an air leak like a crank seal, base gasket or intake insulator. Normally we would pressure test the crankcase but you may be able to find a leak by spraying carb cleaner around the engine.
@superjonboy8736 ай бұрын
If I dont have an Ultrasonic Cleaner can I just use spray in Carb Cleaner? I have this same model with the same problem. I changed the sparkplug but it still has the issue, has to be the carb since Ive used it for over 9 years without service lol.
@TheGreasyShopRag6 ай бұрын
Spray carb cleaner can work as well or better than an ultrasonic cleaner but it won't fix other issues like a stiff metering diaphragm. Of course the ultrasonic wont fix that either.

"If you like puzzles, you'll like this" lol, I do like puzzles, but what I like more is to buy a weedeater and it works first pull every time and doesn't only run in half choke straight out of the box XD. Instead I have one that since day one only runs if you pull in full choke until it tries to start, then one more pull in half choke, then one more in no choke, then finally one more pull in half choke and it runs but even then it tries to die if you don't hold down the gas for 30-40 seconds. It is a shame that Craftsman used to be recognized as a cheaper but the quality of Snap-On, and now it is only Chinese made dogshit. Same thing happened to Porter Cable. Used to be quality tools then got bought out but they kept the name and now they make shit tools and only half the tools they used to in order to force you to go with their equally as crappy quality Craftsman tools. lmfao
