Its nice to hear from a farmer on something they don't seem to be well represented in. I don't understand how anyone would believe you would waste money drenching your soil with expensive chemicals

MN Millennial Farmer for sure fella. Been watching your videos for a few months now so given it's a slow (ish) period video wise I looked back to the start. You're more relaxed and humorous these days. You do a great job with keeping it interesting. I was brought up on a small mixed farm in England so seeing what you do these days on a much larger scale is really interesting. E.g., the Claas combine I used to drive didn't have a cab👍👍😂

Greetings from Australia. I'm also a farmer growing sugar cane in Nth Queensland and I've recently subscribed to your channel. Interesting to see we share some of the same issues. (1)....nitrates leeching into our underground water and (2)..... chemical run-off which is destroying our Great Barrier Reef, mainly Atrazine and Diuron. The majority of farmers are complying and doing the right thing by getting accreditation for" Best Farming Practices", and then there are those that don't give a rats ....... Keep up the good fight and I'd love to visit your farm if I'm ever in that part of the woods. BTW.......love your humor.

Nice "boom management" on the waterway, there buddy. I need to get back into the groove with my chemical knowledge. I'm gonna start back farming for real instead of just a handful of acres. When I knew "what from what " , we were using Lasso/ Lorox and Treflan/Sencor or Lexone . Been a few, huh? Going to the other end of the state tomorrow to get a JD 7000 to replace the 494. WOOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Later, man.

Great video, and you did a superb job on explaining the benefits of glyphosate and the nonsense surrounding GMO's. Really enjoy all your videos and appreciate you taking the time out of a busy schedule to educate the multitudes who just frankly have never had someone explain modern agriculture the way you do. You do a great and needed service :)

Best way for most people to understand a surfactant--it's what Rain-X is. When you put Rain-X on your windshield, that is a surfactant. Also, Jet Dry in your dishwasher is a surfactant. It makes water bead off of stuff.

Every food crop in the modern world is a GMO crop. If not for the human-devised, human-initiated GMO process, an ear of corn would still be as small and hard and brown as a head of wheat.
@SaneNoMore

While GMO food has helped millions by increasing our capacity to produce crops it has lowered the overall nutritional value of that food (per capita) , but then again, I would rather take a multivitamin verses starve to death hehe. There is no evidence it is not safe.. in fact GMOs have been studied more than any other food product in history.

Do you know if the farm implement companies like John Deere are working on computerized selective weed sprayers? For example a sprayer which "detects" a little weed in the field with video recognition software and triggers a sprayer to only spray a tiny part of the field as it passes by a weed? it appears that only a few little weeds are coming up and you don't really need to spray 100% of the ground. Would that be effective or do you need to spray everything?

Let's hope they don't start selling all chemicals like they do round up!!!!

Great video I farm a small place and work a job also . I hear about GMOs from a lot of people ,and I get tired of it . I don't beleave a farmer could stay in farming right now if he didn't use them. It seems like the chemical company that I will not name rammed that down the farmer thoats. Don't atrazine have a carry over for other crop other than corn?
@57fitter
@57fitter 7 жыл бұрын
It's pretty rough on Oats the following year...
@diepenj47
@diepenj47 4 жыл бұрын
There are lots of factors involved in carry over such as herbicide rate, soil type, soil pH, weather conditions and which follow crop is planted. The MMF fields are in a corn/soybean rotation and they have probably used atrazine for many years so they know the proper rates to use so they don’t have carry over issues. By the way, atrazine is one of the best ways to control those little weeds that Zack pointed out in the previous video.

How do you like that tractor for spraying? Would you rather not have duals in the rear? I am currently looking for a tractor solely for spraying with a Fast 1400 gal sprayer, what would you recommend?
@MillennialFarmer
@MillennialFarmer 8 жыл бұрын
We like the tractor. in our area the duals really help at times because sometimes we end up having to spray when the fields are not ideal (wet). we do run over a fair amount of crop on the ends though. we are considering getting a self propelled at some point. I would think any good tractor would pull a fast 1400 as long as it's got enough power!

your smart person explain why a bonding agent is applied with round up. I will say this herbicide in which round up is for kills the roots applying to a plant shouldn't hurt anyone; but taking a mouse which is one hundredth the size smaller then a human; and giving it substance and it dies then from scientific calculations comes up the mount that would kill an normal sixed human. One can question it by say not so fast due to the fact of the size of a mouse and how much it would take to kill it without looking at possibility what kills a mouse or a rat it would take or could take several to a million time the amount calculated would kill human for the test of what it would took to kill a mouse or a rat from that calculation could be wrong.

Spraying roundup and using GMO seed...you're not a farmer...you are a corporate hitman for Monsanto. It is so sad... You are brainwashed.
