Absolutely! I have first-hand experience witnessing what you just said with 2 cousins of mine. They're dad's aren't interested in improving the relationship with them because subconsciously they represent their past mistakes. And their existence is a constant reminder of that. I have an aunty who is somewhat similar to Monique in the sense that she doesn't have good relationships with her adult children because she was absent for majority of their childhoods, she never takes accountability for her wrongs, doesn't have good relationships with her younger sisters, & is a perpetual victim of everybody, & has trouble letting things go & affording her kids & her sisters the same grace she expects of them. Watching this exchange with Monique and her son reminded me of that.
@michellelove814611 ай бұрын
THANK YOU!! I don’t know why people don’t understand that! This dynamic between her and her son is more common than we realize. Parents do not get a manual or handbook on parenting when children come into this world. Did we forget that Monique had her own childhood trauma?! Hurt people, hurt people…including their children Their is no “perfect Patty”!

I wish she for once would tell syd to sit his a** down and shut up and handle this situation herself. The fact that he refused to see her son as his own once he married her is a huge red flag. But mo is a pick me, and it's obvious she hasnt truly healed from her own past. Now, for shalon, he might as well just focus on himself and his own family and seperate from the toxic relationship with his mom. In our community, that's something we need to normalize and realize that it's ok to separate yourself from toxic family members. Self-preservation.

Sydney is the kind of sub human who keeps a tally of everything he does, and uses it as a weapon when he needs to control someone or justify mistreating them. Anyone who was ever in doubt about who/what Monique’s problem is, should be clear as day that she is in an emotionally abusive marriage, and her husband too involved, and too much in control. Whether we come from two parents, single parents, rich parents and or poor parents, it really does not matter because the truth is most of our parents messed us up really bad. Even with the best intentions, we inherited a lot of generational dysfunctions from our parents and grandparents, aunties and uncles. I'm 45 years old me and my friends are just now realizing just how much our families either lied to us, screwed us up or laid their insecurities and issuses on us. A lot of the reasons we have messed up romantic relationships now come from our upbringing. There is no such thing as a parent without parenting faults. The best thing we can do as a parent is admit we got issuses work on ourselves and allow our kids to respectfully express their feelings.

Kat told stories about he always chose his integrity over the deal and doesnt regret it,He is stronger and successful and no one can take it from him. Mo (outside of the Oprah and Tyler stuff) was making alot of excuses. She was lamenting at the deals she continued to take and regret in hindsight. I knew something was off the way she glossed over her having no relationship with her first child but considers her kids with her Kang a do over. This is not a woman who has taken responsibility. There are legitimate issues with black women being misjandled in show business but i think the issues are outside of that. She has always given pick me but people be so devoid of functional relationships now everyone wants to clap for the fact that she wants to be subserviant to a man she employs. She got yall fooled tho. I can both not like Oprah and still think it's bull that the parkers made 2 billion dollars. I dont get her end goal. I was waiting on your take on this. Knowing how it feels to have a strained relationship with my Mother, I can understand how Shalon feels but personally hope they can talk privately and come to some understanding. Life is to short. I mended my relationship with my mother but believe me it took a lot and my Aunt (who passed in October) made sure to make it clear to me to try and fix our relationship, it worked.

This is all on point. Esp when you said that he’s talking about emotional and physical availability. Not monetary!

Mo and Syndey talk about the boy in such a distant emotional way. You don't feel the motherly connection in her words.

Thank you so much for touching on this subject. I see so many women like Monique. Monique still needs to heal herself in order for her too sit down and have that conversation with her son. Unfortunately, if she sees nothing wrong it will never happen. Additional she seems to stick by her husband. If he is not having those conversations and encouraging her to speak with her son alone, it will never happen. Long as he is by her side.

She a mother dearest. Shalon is so handsome, Hubble, smart and i sense he has a kind heart. He just wants his mom. Sadly Monique just wants her man and the kids she had with him.

All i learned from this whole beef is that comedians are TERRIBLE parents lmao. From DL dismissing his daughter after she told him his friends violated her, to Monique damn near abandoning her son. Personally I think one is worse than the other but both require some family therapy after it all.

At least D.L worked on making it right with his daughter. Monique is not truly interested in rebuilding her relationship with her son, she only concerned with pleasing her husband.

I definitely can relate Shalon when it comes down to parents. My cousin and I have spoke about this and we are both in therapy trying to break that generational curse.

I’ve supported Monique for so many years with the blackballing situation but this is where she’s lost my support. She is FOUL for how she is handling her son and allowing her husband to disrupt their relationship.

Not only was he in the video, he was doin all the talking. We get it. He helped him negotiate and buy a car. What ever age, we all need help sometimes. That doesn’t mean you don’t also deserve a loving emotion relationship. That went over their heads.

This is why I've been subscribed to you for years, since back in the days when you REALLY put your black V neck on lol. I don't always agree with you, I barely comment. However, your different point of view on things gets me thinking. Like, "oh ok Iet me look at it in that way." I appreciate it, it's growth, it's a conversation. Ty blessing to you.🍒

My mom has told me “I did what I thought was best” but she follows it up with “But thinking now I can see how that wasn’t the best for you”. It gives me both the reason why she made the decision but also taking accountability of the result.

A lot of things can be true at the say time. The Oprah and Tyler Perry thing can be true, but also it can also be true she's hard to work with with.
@latriciajennings499411 ай бұрын
Before I even respond to your video, her son has responded to it. I will say this though, the rumors about Monique being difficult didn't start with Tyler Perry. They started back in the 90s when she had her own talk show. Back then, she blamed Hollywood saying that it was because of her size. Monique been complaining over half my life. The question is, when is she gonna take accountability for HER actions & sit in it?
@RachanaDixon-ty9qd11 ай бұрын
Say it louder for the people in the back? Ppl never consider that when ppl were telling others that she was difficult to work with, that they probably also gave prime examples of their own experiences with her. I know that I would be curious on how they reached that conclusion.

I agree with this commentary 100%. It is best if they, or anyone in the public eye, keep their personal business private. Unfortunately, it could continue to hurt her professionally. I pray for her family's healing.

If Monique has a smoking gun recording of Tyler Perry (sic), why doesn’t she sue him in a court of law for defamation? I would like Monique to address this question.

I think Daddy should let Monique talk cause this is getting outta of hand it making her look bad now.
@diamcole11 ай бұрын
1:08 The two are being conflated because of the irony. You can’t shake your fist at the lack of accountability while absolutely refusing to acknowledge and recognize the very real harm you caused someone else - and not a stranger, your child. Monique is a very talented woman but I do not believe her as it relates to her son and the fact that she supports her husband talking about his mental illness speaks VOLUMES.
