This is my favourite arc in this season. Absolutely next level character development. Felt sad that Mob called Reigen on his BS but man was it needed at this point. Can't wait for the conclusion.

I have a hard time calling what Reigen does as him “scamming” people... Now, he’s without question _deceiving_ people but even with that being the case, he’s still genuinely solving the issues that they’re hiring him to solve despite the deception. He’s just doing it in an alterer way then they’re lead to believe but their issues are still actually being solved and are walking alway satisfied as he genuinely helped the, by solving the problem they were having. So with that being the case, it doesn’t seem probable or accurate to call what he’s doing “scamming”. Ya know what I mean? Lol

Yea. I too don't really wanna call it scam, but it is what it is tho. The problem is, if his client's issue wasn't solved, it'll be easily fallen into "scam". The worst case scenario, his client has the right to sue him. At least if he was honest about what he's truly capable of and what he's not, and the issue still wasn't solved, it'll only be called an error or mistake or a slip-up. Reigen is a funny and lovely character so we probably hesitate to call him out, but still his funny scenes shouldn't negate the fact that he repeatedly took credit for Mob's doing and took advantage of his disciple. He's a good guy, but in term of his job, he really is a fraud. This arc has done a good job showing that reality to us while at the same time making us still loving his character.

​@@farial9599 Well, what's a scammer? Are there levels to it? Is he not helping his clients? If he is, can he still be called a scammer? In this respect, it's all too subjective, so while by your semantics and morality, it's not inaccurate to call him a scammer, OP's opinion also isn't inaccurate to say he's not a scammer, so long as both of you are going by your own standards and are not assuming it's so objective, black and white. From my perspective, I grew up with it being used to describe those tech scams that trick you to pay them money. I'd figure that's reasonable enough to consider a scammer being a type of fraud that completely steals money with lies. With this definition in place, let's continue: Is he borderline fraudulent? Agreed. Is he scamming his clients? Depends if we are basing it off his onscreen clients. Majority of them he has helped resolve by Mob, a service he brings to the clientele (proprietary). Misleading? Agreed. Scamming? Disagree. What about those without Mob, massaging, etc.? In his reality where spirituality has been proven (as opposed to saying 'a world where spirituality is real', since the majority of his world appears to not know about it's legitimacy, similarly to our own), it's a grey area. By his own service, he "lifts their spirits up" and we do not know the extent of how useful spiritually that brings. In other words, hard to prove, even by us dimensional viewers. Misleading? Agreed. Less effective than Mob method? Agreed. Scam? Disagree, hard to prove, not entirely baseless, and not meaningless if it helps the client in that way. What about the curse and the ghost family? For the curse, it's not inaccurate to say he's provided a curse talisman, by it's very definition that it cursed the owner on it's uselessness. Paradoxical interpretation aside, it's much closer to being called a scam. The ghost family? The lie he sold with his salt diffusion. Probably closest. Or is it? With that lie, to the client's reality, the ghost family is gone from their fears, and they leave in peace, hopefully to never visit the same location again. But in the end, he's given them peace - he destroyed their fear of the family of ghosts in their heads, as far as we know. Perspective, provability, and spirituality are all tough to make it as black and white as calling him a scammer. Charlatan, fraudulent, con artist - all accurate. But calling him a scammer in this reality of Reigen, his clientele and the overall Mob world, is inaccurate - not far-fetched, but inaccurate, up to this point, at least with scammer defined in my first paragraph. In the end, we are debating semantics, and you could educate me on a more standardized definition of scammer in our legal terms, as "a fraud" doesn't do it justice.

@@Naruto31132 his business is literally called "Spirit and Such Consultation Office" where he repeatedly claimed himself as an "esper". He is not an esper and his approach handling his client situation doesn't include any spirit or paranormal activity. That alone is indeed a scam. It only gets "real paranormal approach" when Mob got involved (and the fact that he used Mob to get the real job done while taking credit for it makes it more obvious that he's a scam). Nothing subjective about it. It's not my standard. It's reality that apparently u tried to dodge with ur own semantic and morality problem. Objectively speaking, when someone claims he is something he's actually not and involve himself in a professional field with it, he's a fraud. No grey morality or black and white sht would justify it. He's helping people? Yea. But it's still a scam. The result just happened to be good. Now, what would happen if Mob wasn't there? If it's truly paranormal case that Reigen cannot solve with a mere salt spray? Obviously the client would go home with their problem left unsolved while they lost their money. And on this case, Reigen cannot blame Mob for not being there because it is HIS BUSINESS.

Reigen is a way better person than Saul tho. Saul sometimes do bad things to an innocent guy like Howard. Reigen also reject the 5 million yen because he felt he doesn't deserve it

@@linxianke7862 I wouldn’t give him that much credit. Reigen wasn’t aware that the reward was 5 million yen. The Psycho Helmet cult received the money so only they knew how much it was. Also, according to Dimple, Reigen “didn’t want to be held responsible.” I trust Dimple’s intuition on this, as it’s been established he can see right through Reigen.

Also Reigen knows the reward money, and all of the espers at that time, since the father Asagiri begged then bid outragous prices for her daughters well being. Dimple was the contrast to balanced out Reigen being too good, especially when Reigen was saying things without his actual thoughts behind it. Because Dimple was supposed to be the POV of viewers that hate Reigen. Cases such as Reigen's knife analogy flashback where Dimple dislikes it. Dimple didn't see through Reigen does not have powers(only an ability to see Dimple.) is a proof dimple cannot see through Reigen entirely. Dimple didn't realized enough that Reigen is longing for Mob in this ep(only he sees that Reigen is using Mob for his Business). The only character that was smart enough to know Reigen was not Dimple but Ritsu. Ritsu disliked Reigen, but he knows Reigen was something important to Mob, he knows he can never be too bad to Mob.

It's really a great one, my personal one is season 1 episode 5 because I feel like it's when we really get to know what's going on with Mob emotionally speaking. For me that was the episode that made me understand that the percentage is not power output it's emotional output of repressed emotions

Why do people come to the conclusion that her family doesn't care? They clearly care which is why they are trying to make Reigen understand that whatever the flip he is doing isn't the most 'healthy' thing, that he may try something else like whatever she sent to him in email. It was thoughtful, and caring. Reigen isn't 18 years old that you expect his mother to go all soft and celebration on him knowing he is just living his life in a supposedly happy little corner. Because clearly his corner was not happy after exactly one person left him alone. I think Reigen's mom was very reasonable and smart in whatever she said. It shows her strength. And shows where Reigen got his strength from.
