More of it is than we probably think. All you see in the main stream media are the con men, scumbags and thieves we have in this country (most of which work on Wall Street) There actually are decent people like Eric O. but they are not considered "newsworthy." Decency isn't dead but it does seem to be very well hidden. A great shame.

This is small town. As a kid, my uncle had a bakery. There were older guys like Vinnie, and a few guys who were slow. All the local merchants would keep an eye on them, and help them out. For example, one of the guys who was mentally retarded used to ride around town on a three wheel bike. The local bike shop would keep him motoring. They’d help out if he got a flat, or something. My uncle might give out something to eat. It says lots about Mr. O., that he is charitable. Small kindnesses like this go a long way.

Awesome job Eric...........I had a friend "Bill" on the same type of scooter which I was always fixing for him as he stopped in almost daily on his way to town to get himself a tea, he was a WWII vet. Bill passed away last Dec. Man I miss that guy!

Eric, it is amazing to watch you fix things. I was trained to the highest level of expertise in a particular field, and that taught me to recognize it in others. On KZbin there is Abom79 (machinist), and Diresta (woodworking), and South Main Auto (car repair). Diresta does not commentary, but Adam Booth reminds me of you. His dad visits the shop, and you both do a wonderful running commentary. Love to see Mrs O, the little O's, and the dogs. I agree that you cannot get enough of dog hugs. I spent my first eight years on a sheep farm, 250 ewes and 3 sheep dogs.

I get used shooters from nursing homes that don't work fix them and donate them back out to vets that need them but can't afford them. It's good to see people helping people. Thanks for your service, Vinny! I swear we're in parallel universes Eric - I've been maintaining my neighbor's Pride Mobility Jet 3 scooter chair. Nowhere near as fancy as that one Vinny's got there, but does the job. Thing is 17 years old, so it's needed some TLC. I did both batteries, welded a nut on the seat adjuster, and just last week I had to install new anti-tip front wheels there, since my 85 year old neighbor got all crazy and peeled the rubber right off the things, HAHAHA! He takes the thing in the woods, and through all the potholes on our street that hasn't been paved since 1948. All in a day's work! :)

Our local fire station was and still is much like your garage. We get all sorts of minor emergencies from removing wedding rings, minor emergency car repairs, toy repairs, growing vegetables in our community garden to medical emergencies. All our fire stations are now officially part of the community services and we have community rooms too. There isn't much we won't take on with a smile. Vinny would have been welcome and offered a hot drink too.
