Thanks for this informative review and great pushing for better specs in the m-itx size. I find it that manufacturers only give them a toy status. I think this should be the standard size, as I (personally) find no need for more than 1 expansion slot for a gfx card and 2 slots of ram, and probably is the same for most users. USB has phased out the need for pci/pci-e slots and everything really necessary like ethernet/wifi/sound are all integrated. These reviews come in handy now that everything is "out" we can have an informative purchase decision, and get everything right the first time.

I think the only compromise that really bugs me is the one random VCore phase that is off on it's own with nothing but 'we hope you don't use the iGPU' as a heatsink. I'm OK with the 40A power stages, the paleolithic MOSFETs for the iGPU and DRR, and even the linear regulators for the minor rails. They did all that and kept the price down, which is great. Sticking that last phase off on its own with no heatsink? Maybe it is fine, but it just seems like that phase is going to be the weakest link in the VCore VRM, and I'm not seeing a great reason why it had to be that way.

It's a completely different game, with a much more massive VRM, tons more cooling, and performance specs that put it nowhere near this. While Buildzoid hasn't gotten to it yet, other reviewers that have tested the Gigabyte Z390 Master show it having superior cooling and power delivery compared to just about every other board it's competing with, except boards not yet released in the more extreme category (And Gigabyte also has another board they haven't released as well above the master), and perhaps the MSI Godlike, but even that board has a lot less than what you would expect for the price point, and plays weird games with pre-set overclocking hidden in it's auto settings to make it look better in reviews.

@james20426 жыл бұрын
@@cool2b88 Okay well I don't want you to take my word for it, so unless buildzoid responds himself, I would go look at the power draw numbers from Gamers Nexus. Now those are measured in watts. How you get watts is voltage times current (amps) or v*a=w. So I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but for example, if their OC was 5ghz at 1.35v, with a 200w power draw worse case, their current would be 200 divided by 1.35 which would be about 148 amps +/-. Take the actual numbers from GN (or any other source that measures from the 12v eps cables and not the wall) and you can simply follow the formula to calculate current draw from the wattage and voltage used. As long as it stays under the specs (and should be by a decent margin) then you will be okay. Also unless you plan on gaming at super high refresh rates, a 2700x with a 400 series motherboard would be a much more power efficient option (as a 2700x doesn't need an OC and has a max power draw of about 120w or about 100a)
