I'm returning the Asus Prime 390z-p mb I purchased last weekend and changing to a Z390 Aorus pro wi-fi. A 9900kf chip appears to overpower the Prime and according to all the videos I've watched testing z390 mb's, the Gigabyte offering, although an extra AU$129.00 in Australia, I consider it to be an excellent choice.

I have this board and have loved it until recently except for the lack of PCIE 4.0 support and making it next to impossible to upgrade the wifi module to wifi 6 because of the plastic shrouding that isnt so easily removed, unless of course i completely remove it from my machine......

Ordered A Z390 Aorus Xtreme Waterforce today at Amazon. Cant find the 5.1Ghz 9900k combo anymore but im cool with the board alone coz will buy a 9900KS later on this month or by January. Planing on cooling the 9900KS with a Dual EK-CoolStream XE 480 mm RAD on a Corsair 1000D. Im so exited about the motherboard that I ordered, that Z390 xtreme waterforce looks so good on der8auer 's reveiw video. Knowing that the Xtreme is the top 1 amongst Z390 MOBO ratings like Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus, and the Waterforce is the Premuim Limited Edition makes me more so exited.
@MaZEEZaM5 жыл бұрын
I am going to buy the Xtreme primarily for a few reasons, firstly the inclusion of 3x M.2 Sockets, 2x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C, and plenty of USB 3.1 particularly the Gen 2's and the side exiting Power cable port. I do like the improved Audio inclusion though my speakers use USB so I am unsure if this will benefit in any way? Also, what is the benefit of extra in this case, 16 phase chips? It's an aspect of MB's I really don't understand.
@frankdaeran3526 жыл бұрын
@ 6:28 you say regarding the Pro "it has the same VRM design as our Master". But doesn't the Master have 12x IR3553, IR35201 with IR3599, and the Pro has 12 x SiC634, ISL 69138 with ISL 6617 ? Not the same. Buildzoid's overview of your Z390 line showed other differences as well. My take-away was that he actually preferred the Ultra in many regards and those reasons were pretty sound, given the Ultra's VRM component similarity to what's previously been used on X299 platform boards. Overall you guys did an amazing job this time around on the hardware, but like others have mentioned the BIOS and software still really needs work. It's clunky and unintuitive compared to Asus, and I honestly think you guys lose sales to Asus merely because even amidst the phasegate controversy w the XI Hero, people still go with Asus because they know they won't have to fight the BIOS to do something that should be simple, but has been overthought or over-complicated.

Can anyone tell if the Gigabyte GC-TITAN RIDGE will work with the Z390 Pro (or any of the Z390 line up)???? In the specs it says this board with support one Thunderbolt add-in card connector. I was thinking about getting the Designare witch is around $300 with only one Thunderbolt connection. BUT if I go with the Z390 Pro for $190 and the Gigabyte GC-TITAN RIDGE $124, that would give more Thunderbolt I/O witch I need to run my Thunderbolt audio interfaces. In the process of building a work horse for audio and video editing. These are the only boards that I know of that support thunderbolt with a reasonable price point.
@VividMac1016 жыл бұрын
One small gripe would be the lack of a U.2 port. I understand U.2 drives are less common but if you have an Intel Optane 900p/905p you will miss the port for sure. You can use Intel’s M.2 to U.2 adaptor though. These boards look great though especially the Xtreme. Hopefully that VRM cooling setup works as well as it sounds like it will.

He keeps saying he's excited about the boards, but he looks like he wants to jump off the roof. Other than that, from an Asus fan boy of old, I'm definitely up for a "Master" board. My problem at the moment is the fact that Intel are still gouging us for the cost of their processors. AMD are "supposed" to be surprising us in the New Year with new product that will hopefully bring back a bit of healthy competition within the market place, which let's face it, is long overdue. Asus........well they've just dropped a huge ball with their Z390 boards, which I feel is going to hurt them for quite some time. Certainly lost my business.

Sorry Gigabyte. I have to really disagree with some of the statements you made concerning RGB on the PCI-E and DIMM. "We started to take off RGB on like the PCI-E slots, some of the DIMM slots, and what we've done is put Digital RGB in different spots" " right, so we want it to look elegant, right, we want your system to light up, we want it to look the way you want" "we want you to be able to show it off, but at the same time, we don't need it to be, y'know kinda in your face" "so, put a lot of time and effort into making sure that the board can match any system." "At the end of the day, it's your system, it's not my system, and so we want you to be able to do, what it is your looking to do with it, show it off, and err really take pride with your system" "We want it to look the way you want" "It's your system, it's not my system" "We want you to be able to do, what it is, your looking to do with it" "Show it off" "Take pride with your system" How can i do all these things Gigabyte, if you took away the features i loved about the Z370 boards. Some people want the RGB on the PCI-E and DIMM areas. It's what makes your brand stand out. You have ruined it. You go forwards a step with innovation, don't get me wrong, the boards look amazing, but you went back a step. Don't take away the choice so that we have no choice. That is what you have done. "we don't need it to be, y'know kinda in your face" This is your opinion, your choice. You are taking this away from everybody else who loved this RGB in our face. Give us the option to have it and to turn off, for thos who don't like it in their face. RGB on the PCI-E and the DIMM slots. Then eveyone has the best of both worlds. Then you upset no one! And everybody wins, everybody is happy, The End. I will have to strongly consider the Z370 boards now or go with a different brand choice. You take something away, you take customers away, you gain something, we lose something. So in the end, you lose another customer for taking away a feature they loved.
