Close my eyes may the shadow that the white day will carry me away, And can this soul of mine unleash to its anxious eagerness flattering hour; - but no, elsewhere on the shore, It will leave the memory where it burned: swim my flame knows the cold water And lose respect for stern law. - Soul to whom all a prison god has been, veins that have given so much fire, marrows that have gloriously burned, - their body they will leave, not their care, they shall be ashes, but shall have sense, dust they will be, but dust in love. ............................................................................... The first thing I played was ofcours Moby (which is impossible to do though) and my cat was sleeping for hours because he was in such pain, but instantly revived as soon as he heard me playing the piano and Moby’s songs. So. 26 years ago I bought Everything Is Wrong, already deeply, madly, transcendently in love with Go and Moby's remix of Pet Shop Boys' "Miserabilism" - which, by this time, had already convinced me I was going to be listening to this man's music until the day I died. And God Moving Over the Face of the Waters started that first time, and I sat and cried, and cried, and cried... cried for friends I'd lost, cried for friends and a boyfriend I'd lose, in the blink of an eye, really... And none of it could have prepared me for this. Somehow this is just indescribably sadder, and more beautiful, and more melancholy, and more... just... more... than the original, which, given how fucking amazing the original still is, is almost beyond belief. I'm going to need to go cry for a while, now.

For me, this composition contains IT ALL - The huge scope of God's divine creation, the cheerfulness of Nature, the great potential and the free will we were given. At the same time, our lost moments, to be grateful, loving, caring creatures. That's why it speaks so deeply to our consciousness.

I had an experience with this song too. Pet Shop Boys to Moby as a teen in the 1990s sounds like me as well. I remember buying Moby's CD, popping into my car, and driving when God Moving Over The Face of Waters came on. I had to stop and listen. Tears were streaming down my cheek. Everything I saw was brighter and deeper and more intimate than anything I'd ever experienced. I saw no old man or bright light in clouds; I heard no tyrant or scripture; I felt no pain. I felt the Divine prescence manifested through this song. Its spirit descended on everything around me. The spirit commanded my attention and raised me up, up above my small body in that litte car, up to its magnificient beauty, the glorious beauty of life all around me, all the people, the birds, the sky ... The tears wouldn't stop, and I cried out -- to let the Divine spirit pass over or overwhelm me; to take me or leave me, eitherway let it end. The song ended, and the echoes of the Divine spirit drifted away. I dried out my eyes and watery nose and could drive again. I'd learned to not play this song while driving 🥲. And despite bumps in the road that I had with a religious cult and then atheistic college, I still believe in the Divine. Moby manifested the Divine spirit by writing and sharing this song with us. Music like this reminds us. Thank you for sharing, and letting me remember my 1st experience; and thank you Moby for this Reprise.

Firstly, Heat is still in my top 10 films of all time. Somehow, this song captures the feeling of the entire film and encapsulates it into one magnificent rolling crescendo. I am very sick at the moment and have been for over a year. I am constantly in so much pain I lay in bed in the mornings, awake but unable to get myself out from under the sheets. I was listening to this song today, the sun was shining dimly through the curtains, the kind of sunlight produced in cloudy days, and I closed my eyes a little drowsy. I could still feel the sunlight even through closed eyelids. And I felt so tired. Afraid of the pain. Unwilling to move, wishing it away. In moments like these I dream that I'm dying and the pain will never come back. Listening to this song while in bed with closed eyes, I felt that. Like I was floating away. Comforted by the thought of never being in pain again. But in a way, that extreme emotional pain that brings us to contemplate that death would be better than life can make us want to get up from the bed. At least one more day. Because at least I feel that if I have the strength to let this marvelous life go, because that does require so much valor, then I also have the strength to hold on.

I will forever kick myself that one day many years ago I was out with a friend, when walking by a well-known coffee house in town, saw a guy sipping his coffee at a sidewalk table. I semi-joked to my friend that he looked like Moby (back in the early days) and she joked that maybe I should ask him his last name, adding why would he be here drinking coffee. The next week I read that Moby had been in town for a few gigs. It was him. I wish I could have mentioned to him how much his music touched me. Patronizing I know, but it would have been nice to thank the man for the pleasure his music had given me. I also wish I could have told Chris how much her friendship meant to me as I hadn't seen her for a while when she died at the beginning of the pandemic. Goes to show that you should always let those who matter know _when_ or _if_ you have the chance as you won't always have those chances again. Thanks Moby and Bless you Christine.

I love this song. And watched Moby speak about his creation, his art. I dreamt once before this song came into artistic expression, that I was walking on the dark waters of the edges of your universe. A galaxy following me, it followed me and it will follow me. I stuck my finger in it, and I was here. You are so small to me up above, and I am so small with you. I understand the fears. But this is not my first walk here. There is that sadness...to find equals among you. There is that knowledge as I walk on your borders that it will all end. There is frustration of attempting to take some with me. It's just a dream Great job Moby Your Muse and You both are genius. Much love and peace, and the time to enjoy it.

There is no better composer and author for the 20th and 21st centuries than Moby. These compositions are made with soul, with love, such a charge of energy that passes through our body while listening is not even at a nuclear power plant. I feel what you, my dear friend, convey to us through every touch of the instrument. Thank you for everything, for the wonderful moments with this fantastic music. You are the best, I love and respect you Moby ...

Moby my mother back in the late 90’s had your tape and it was porcelain that I began to love your music. I cry and pray to this angelic song. I feel I can connect to Jesus listening to this. I feel when I pray that this song gives my prayer that extra push to the highest realm. Much love and respect Moby!

The first track I've heard from Reprise that elevates the original, finishes it--as if this was how it was originally intended to be...the other two tracks don't replace the original like this.

As we get older we remember and cherish our past memories more, but music like Moby just opens up the subconscious, to make us feel, breathe and be in a time and place where we felt ALIVE even more. TRUTH.......

This song is the only thing on earth that makes me truly grasp just how short our time here really is. To pretend otherwise, to be otherwise, to think otherwise, to hope for an otherwise... Its all pointless. There is nothing that we really should aspire to in life, other than to understand that it will be gone soon and when it does, how will be feel that moment just before we know we are leaving? Only that moment matters to me.

This is for me one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, i'm not religious but i can imagine being in presence of something phenominal when i here this piece, looking over all of humanity its past present and future evolution in one piece of music, our bad and good points, all of what makes us human.
