I always reach for Ginger Beer when it comes to non-alcoholic cocktails. Anything I mixed up with it yet was delicious. Here are my crowd-pleasing recipes: Virgin Moscow Mule Ginger Beer 1 Barspoon Simple Sirup Healthy Dash of Apple Juice Fresh Mint Crushed Ice -> build in the glass with a muddler and top off with crushed ice and mint. The best alcohol free cocktail I tried so far is the Tamarind Cooler: 50ml Tamarind Water (4:1 warm water & tamarind paste/purree) 10ml Date syrup 15ml Lime juice 5ml Honey Pinch of salt Muddled Mint 3 cracked Kardamom Let this mixture sit for 1-2 hours, fine strain it and top it with Ginger Beer. Doesn't get better than this and it's super cheap!

THANK YOU for showing mocktails that are not just smoothies, iced tea or juice with sparkling water 🤦♀️. My google and KZbin search had been pretty disappointing so far. Almost halfway through my pregnancy, I’m counting the weeks until I can pop the champagne 😂

Love to see these done properly and having an in-depth analysis. Long time watcher, first time writer, avid home drink maker and for the past 5 years I've been experimenting with making non-alcohol mixed drinks during January. Like you, I don't want to spend £££ on a bottle of boozeless spirits and have come up with several solutions to to create delicious, balanced and satisfying drinks without them. Here are some examples for anyone interested: - Concentrated cold brew tea is a decent replacement for dark spirits. Try making a dark and stormy this way (home made ginger syrup, lime, tea and sparkling water) - I call it a light and stormy. You have to rebalance ratios a little, but it's bloody delicious and satisfying. - The use of bitters is a great secret weapon (if you're willing to go >0.5%, rather than completely boozeless). - There are some great alcohol free beers now so beer cocktails are a good move - lavender beer panache, using Jeffery Morgenthalers youtube recipe is delicious with one of these. - Espresso and tonic is GREAT! (cardomon tonic, with and orange garnish, if you can get it) - And many coffee cocktails (espresso martini, white russian, etc) can be modified with a spiced sugar syrup to add some depth and complexity. - I did a great espresso martini varient with cardomon-orange syrup.

Super cool drinks I love that Orchard Sour! At my bar, I made a non-alcoholic Penicillin riff that I called The Placebo Effect that I think you guys would like. 3oz. lighter smoked black tea (I used a local tea shop's blend of earl grey and lapsang souchong) .75oz Lemon juice .375oz honey syrup .375oz ginger syrup Whip with one cracked ice cube until dissolved. Pour into rocks glass. Float .5oz lapsang souchong tea.

As always, loved the video! Truth be told, riffs of the classic mojito with different syrups and citrus, is probably one of my preferred ways to approach mocktails. I think that with the exclusion of alcohol, mocktails simply need a little extra of everything that usually elevates the regular cocktails. A home made syrup can really take you a long way. Another "hack", is to use different flavored tonic waters. Reputable brands delivers on both great and refreshing tasting notes, as well with that lovely bitternes that we normally get from a lot of our spirits!

Can't wait to try the Nojito Royale. My all time favourite non-alcoholic cocktail is called the Saint Kidd: 10ml apple pie syrup 15ml fresh lime juice 100ml apple juice 50ml spicy ginger beer Build in a ice-filled highball with the first 4 ingredients and stir well. Top with the ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge.

Best seller at our place in summer is a “strawberry mocktail”. Unbelievably simple. I build it straight in a wide g&t ball glass or just wide wine glass: 1. Filll a glass with ice (think, crushed would also do) 2. 80-100ml of pureed strawberries (I just blend a bunch of fresh strawberries with a splash of soda water in advance; we call it “strawberry juice”, but should be pretty thick) 3. Top with bitter lemon (something better than Schweppes if you can find, I use Gini) 4. Garnish with lime wedge and mint spring. 5. Sometimes I upgrade this simple thing with 30ml cucumber+lime syrup (Le Jardin des Gourmetes is the best, if you can find). It’s a game changer. 6. For a proper cocktail version just add 50-60ml of your favorite vodka.

Happy New Year pal! I never heard of those non-alcoholic spirits before - good to know for Dry Jan - thanks! "Virgin Mary" (or "Bloody Shame", or "Bloody Virgin", or "Bloody Barbara") Ice up highball, add: 2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce 1 dash Tabasco Salt and pepper 90ml tomato juice 15ml lemon juice Stir. Garnish with celery and/or lemon wedge.

This is one of the most interesting video on your chanel imo. It's so challenging when a guest walks in and ask for a non-alcoholic drink and you want their experience to be great as well. I like to work with textures using yoghurt, vegetable juice or drops of essential oils to craft something more complexe but it's really ennoying to keep trying to make great non-alcoholic drinks without any waste.. Happy new year and cheers from France !

All the non-alcoholic spirits I've tried just taste of citric acid or lemon water to me, coupled with the thinnest mouth feel you can imagine. And it all just gets buried by everything else you mix it with. If I have to make mocktails for friends i mostly use ginger beer/syrup/cordial, pineapple juice and citrus juice.

I'd end up going with the last mocktail, in this series of drinks, that you created without the expensive faux alcohol products. I just think they are outrageously expensive. What a business! Your creation, or just a nice sparkling water and lime, with some additions of some lovely in season fruits would do the trick, if I wanted a special non-alcohol drink. Totally agree how fast the non-alcohol-based products adds up. I never like it when one product tends to corner a market. I like choices! Thanks so much for giving all this a great try! Your demonstrations were awesome!

I'm glad you tried to come into with an open mind. Instead of thinking of it from a drinker's perspective, what about from a previous drinker's perspective? Like the ritual of selecting something from the store, a nice bottle, and making a drink with it? Or not having to solely make all your replacements like a syrup or over-brewed tea? Just like most people have their bottles of x alcohol on display. I do agree some are not as good as others, some are downright disgusting but Lyre's def has a good range. And some others have launched in the here in States. Really though it's great that adult NA Cocktails are no longer just club soda and lime or just a Shirley temple or something like that but are more complex :)

Main takeaway seems to be that the non-alcoholic spirits / bitters options seem to be quite expensive for what they offer. This is making me wonder if there aren't ways to make those at home for cheaper. Maybe by infusing spices or juniper berries or something? Another option could also be to use bitters or bitter adjacent extracts, which do contain alcohol but are in such small quantities in the drink that they'd be fine for most non-alcohol drinkers (unless they have allergies or strong intolerence) There is also starting to be quite a few non-alcoholic beer options on the market, some of them quite hoppy. These could maybe serve as the "strong" or the "bitter" element of a mocktail
@TheTribalBarGuy3 жыл бұрын
Really nice video. I am always stunned of the price of non-alcoholic booze (not sure if that is a correct combo, though). I was checking these options for a party, since a friend does not drink, and as you mention - the limited shelf life at that price - I am not convinced how worthy it is. Hopefully, if demand increase, I guess the prices will drop. Nevertheless a really nice compilation. Cheers and Happy New Year!

experimenting on that topic taught me, using some drops of tabasco really bring a nice spicy/sour edge into mocktails. Also good quality vinegars and highly concentraded teas. But yeah, why bothering when dry January is almost over ;)

Love that you started tasting and giving tasting notes on the drinks! I've always felt like that was something that was slightly missing from this channel. One note though - if you are going to be doing more drinking going forward, maybe look into another mic setup or at least move the mic from directly in front of your throat. The very loud swallowing sounds are a little bit offputting, at least to my ears :)

I legit screamed "nooooo!" when you almost lost control of that egg yolk, lol. I fully agree though that these are all overpriced. In my country over half the bottle price of spirits is excise tax. Without alcohol I would expect these to be much cheaper. It seems like they bought into their own hype about these being just as good as their alcoholic companions. I've only had a taste of the Seedlip one that you used in the Winter Cup and wasn't super impressed. It was tasty but the flavours were muted compared to a proper gin and the aftertaste was a bit metallic for my liking.
