This documentary is really old. Looking from the video scenes maybe around late 2000s (circa 2008). As they say, within 1 year, CHINA changed so much. This documentary is a time capsule, reflecting a time not too long ago (circa 2010) when the American media could look at the Chinese objectively, fairly and evenly considering their accomplishments and achievements and even humanizing them, putting a human face on their aspirations. The details are outdated, as China has progressed so much since this was made, so in 2024, this is more about us--how the way we look at China has changed--than about China itself.
@谢先生-i2qАй бұрын

1. The secret behind China's success is actually NOT a secret. 2. China's 56 ethnic groups are firm believers in the Chinese saying " FOOLISH OLD MAN CAN REMOVE MOUNTAINS ( 愚公移山 )“ . They have strong determination , huge capability and creativity to conquer / remove all obstacles / mountains in relatively short period of time , especially with the far-sighted , pragmatic and effective government leadership. 3. China strongly upholds and implements its motto " EMPTY TALKS RUIN COUNTRY ; SMART AND HARD WORK PROSPER NATION ( 空谈误国 ,实干兴邦 ). 4. China wisely combine socialism and Confucianism to promote the welfare of its 56 ethnic groups.

China’s success over the past few decades was not achieved solely by giving full play to the role of the market, but was mainly achieved by making full use of the market mechanism under the top-level design of the government, orderly adjustment, control and guidance, including the correct system of “locking capital in a cage” to prevent capital from frantically interfering with government decision making like in the West. Compared with the rapid decline of the West in recent decades, this Chinese success story also fully proves the absurdity of the “small government, big market” theory advocated by Reagan and Thatcher.

War brings most profits. The genocide is not important. In fact Americans celebrate the genocide of red Indians the so called savages in countless cowboy movies where lives are totally irrelevant. Profits are more important than human lives. It is a cost to maintain infrastructure and helping the homeless. It is too profitable to engage in wars. Think of the seizing of Russian assets Afghanistan foreign reserves Iraq oil Ukraine land etc etc to the tune of billions.

Sorry, I always seem to encounter difficulties typing comments. My one-finger skills ought not to put me at a disadvantage - so long as I don't press the 'send' icon. The problem resides squarely in the poor quality of the software. Continuing... In like manner, the leaders of a nation has as its primary duty to provide for the needs of the population - starting from the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, education, employment, affordable healthcare, and moving up the needs scale, protection from external aggression, domestic security, etc. In return, the people look up to their leaders not unlike how a family looks up to their parents - with respect and to abide by the proper rules of conduct and behaviour. As a rule, the Chinese are not in the habit of bad mouthing their leaders, freedom of speech notwithstanding.
