22:30: Can somebody explain how the net pressure diagram derived from two straight lines is a curved line, which has to be approximated by straight lines?

Hey,if any one is having confusion regarding pp2b as me then it might be helpful, consider the full right side has active pressure and left side is passive pressure, Then, Pp2b = (Kp*r*d ) - (Ka*r*(H+d)) As, d=a+y from fig put in the above eqn then solve you get Also at last you need to put a condition of point c1, i.e, active pressure = passive pressure Kp*r*a - Ka*r*a - Ka*r*H =0 Then you will get Ppb2=(Kp-Ka)*r*Y

Hi thank you for your video so great just one question please , after 39:10 you didnt calculate the small triangle DO distance (a) , someone could explain me how did he calculate the pressure of that triangle thank you so much
@SahinAhmed2 жыл бұрын
Late but may be helpful for others: Small triangle part DC1 distance (a) is considered in pressure calculation at the point (C1): Ka.Gamma.(H+a)=Kp.Gamma.a

Dear Sir In the derivation of granular soil without anchoring (very first case) for writing the equation number 2 and 3 , you use pressure (Pa) that was the active pressure at the dredge line was not correct. Here we will have to use (Ra) that was the resultant of all forces above point "O" from the right-hand side. please check it.
@onzy29724 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's what i thought. He used the pressure at O instead of the resultant force, for which the formula is F = 0.5 Ka Y H^2

Thankyou sir ....sir one question i am confuse in cohesive soil after 39.50 calculating the moment at point B you have written Pa(y+ý) bt according to your solution there should pa(ý+D)....Ý=y bar ...
@govind45224 жыл бұрын
Boss first that is for granular soil. And its correct if you taking moment @ B how Pa multiplied by Y+D. Its correct moment x distance wrt B point

So how might this change with a varying water table? I.e., a water table on the right side up to a height, where the water table on the left side is equal to the dredge line.

is this practical possible ?

In active and passive earth pressure diagrams as shown, a is from point D to O (O being the point of rotation). In net pressure diagram, point D to point C1 is also called a. Are points O and C1, both points of rotation and value of the a is the same? Anyone?

where do you get Ka¥(H+D) in active pressure diagram
@SahinAhmed2 жыл бұрын
