Personally, I'm not going to be touching any of the modded maps till they are complete. This comes from my past experiences in ark over the years. It's not that they don't do a good job making them or updating them. I just don't want to lose progress on my base or taming/breeding that can happen when a unfinished map updates. In the end it just makes me more excited to see the spotlights as more progress is made toward finishing the maps and video's like this help me see more of what is going on with them.

I do agree, these videos he's been making have been really helpful. I decided to buy Forglar after watching his showcase video, loving the map and after watching the video they added the final biome so the map is pretty much 100% complete. I won't buy Temptress until all the extra stuff gets added, so taking the advice and gonna wait a month or 2, maybe 3 XD

Yeah I do agree, right now the premium version doesn't offer too much extra content to explore so I think waiting a little longer is best for most people! it's totally understandable, The map developers do tend to give a heads up on what biomes are changing and advise not to build in the areas in progress, Which is nice to see but yeah I totally it, best to wait for all the content then look into buying the premium version! I'm glad the videos are helpful at least :D

Love these map spotlights, No one does it better! It’s so helpful and a pleasure to watch something edited well with amazing visuals. This is the only decent mod map spotlights on KZbin as apposed to other videos where I just see someone running around on the beach giving that map a ‘review’ lol.

This map looks amazing! Thanks for doing a spotlight as I knew absolutely nothing about it prior to this. I love that there is actual green grass and grey coloured rocks (and ground!) in some regions and that the cliffs and mountains don't all have that weird cottage cheese texture that the official maps have. I was so disappointed when The Center came out with the same yellow lighting and sand coloured everything as The Island. This might be a hot take, but I actual love the openess and lack of ground clutter in some of the areas. The official maps are so absolutely congested with trees and foliage that make getting around on foot or ground mounts an absolute pain. It could use a tiny bit more in areas, but the volcanic biome here is what the one on The Center should have been. The ground in the Enchanted Forest looks more like Survival Evolved, but with the added benefit of the tall lush high res trees the area look amazing and embodies the best of both worlds. That enchanted forest biome looks amazing. Reminds me of the swamp in Genesis 1 or in a lesser way that swampy island on the far west of Fjordur minus the gloomy feel of both. I love that the map has bosses integrated already and especially mini bosses. And DLC creatures! Very excited about this one and definitely picking up the premium version to help the mod developer! This one deserves to be an official map moreso than any of the others out there today in my opinion.

No problem! I do agree! I love that too, I really hope Wildcard don't do Ragnarok dirty like that, I think i'm going to be so annoyed if it looks the same as the Center and the Island :(. Nah I can see why people would like it, I just don't think it's very convenient for building nearby. I like to have plenty of rocks and trees to harvest, I love the look of the enchanted biome too but yeah i can't imagine building there due to having to run to the opposite side of the biome just to find a harvestable tree or rock haha. I agree, have you seen the Forglar map's volcano? That was my perfect look of how I wanted the Center's lava biome to look like! Glad the video was helpful anyway :)

@@BEYPlaysGames I could definitely see that being a problem for building in the Enchanted Forest. I'd probably still ending building one of my 12x24 mansions there because it's beautiful and beautifully flat and die a little inside with every overladen argy trip I made to bring back stone for 14 walls. 😂 I will definitely check out the Forglar volcano. I really hope that Wildcard don't do Ragnarok dirty either. Should look like the Scottish Highlands, not Arizona!

Yeah ther's so many nice flat spots for building projects like that! Haha. I totally agree, i'm trusting them this time! Rag was one of the best looking maps so I'll be a tad salty if they ruin it.

If you like the open areas, you should check out the new premium map, Appalachia. It's completely different from any other map and feels much more open and realistic. I especially love the many different types of trees and foliage. There's a lot of beauty in the simplicity.

Thanks for doing a spotlight on this. I've said before that I prefer your map/base location videos the best, so it seems like a natural progression to see what you think of premium mod maps before I consider them. I typically prefer to wait to try maps until they're done or very nearly done to prevent save corruption and experience the best version for a good first impression, so this video also helps me figure out which ones to keep an eye on for later. Keep up the good work Bey :)

I've been playing Temptress Island (Free initially, then Premium the last month). I have to say, you're right, the map is beautiful, dino densities go from barren to saturated, depending on zone/biome. The biggest negs for me right now are the lack of resource nodes in many biomes, though i did find a nice shelf of metal nodes, complete with Death Worm guardian (its a Plains biome. wth?!?!). The other neg being the lovely new dinos, who don't appear to have saddles, so I have about 20 awesome new dino tames I've collected, all sitting in my dino storage because I have yet to find a saddle for them. The Megapilthicus world boss is a fun fight, though his aggro range is about 5 miles it seems lol. All in all, I don't regret the $5 I spent on Premium, with the hours I've spent in there so far, I'd say it's worked out about 0.20c an hour, I'd call that value for money. Oh one thing that bugs me, the map makers seems to like using the models for harvestable stone and metal nodes as "decoration", nothing more annoying that flying around looking for nodes, spotting one, only to land and realise its a larger unharvestable version of the resource.

Haha yeah, there's definitely some kinks to work out! I also love the biome variety. But yeah they are slowly added resources, the modders tagged me in their discord to tell me they added more obsidian and metal nodes in the snow shortly after i made the video, which made me laugh but it was really nice that they took my criticism and added some missing things, definitely still needs more! Yeah the stones are an issue for me haha, that whole forest/swamp biome is full of those fake rocks, they did say that it will be addressed at some point though, looking forward to seeing the final product! :D

@BEYPlaysGames Oh, I'm defo going to be playing it more, the premium version gets updated every few days, it seems, so a lot of the kinks should be ironed out over time. Love the biome diversity too, all very different to 'vanilla' Ark.

Wait, tameable mini Dragons? Smaller mini boss looking dragons? My. God. This is like a prayer answer for me. I’ve wanted to have a proper dragon instead of Wyverns! Don’t get me wrong, I love my Wyverns but my true preference. Except for the rare resource thing, I often prefer open flat spaces that I can build upon easily. But this might be a side effect of going from ASE The Island to ASA after my PS4 bit the dust. The sudden thick jungles covering some of my favourite open spaces drove me crazy at first. Looks like I’m going to Temptress Lagoon soon.

Temptress is an absolute gongshow!! Ive logged 4 crashes in less than 15 mins, at points. On PS5 - basically with any mods - its unplayable. I dont know what they did when they launched the PREMIUM version - but they did something......and their discord, they seem to basically deflect the blame. Certainly dont recommend this map if you actually wanna play ark.

These maps, like most of ASA in general. Isnt getting population to play pvp on unofficial... maybe on official? Idk. Also if you decide to play single player. Every save is a gamble and anything can be wiped... In all whats the point.😂

It seems the map has potential, but it being a paid mod, being so unfinished, and all the ai images, it is just so annoying the way that ark ascended looks to be turning out with the modded community. If ark ascended was free like initially intended, I could understand them force feeding us paid mods and dlcs like the pyromane and all these mods, but you got to pay 45 dollars, plus bobs tall tales is another paid dlc on top of that... sure, 5 bucks isn't gonna break the bank, but it adds up with all the other paid content plus this is only the start to "premium" mods and theres only going to be more. And I wouldnt be surprised either if ark added more single dino paid dlcs like the pyromane, which for a 5 dollar dlc for 1 dino, its not even that unique or interesting of a dino imo design wise, its just a large fire sabertooth

I do agree! Not a fan at all of what Wildcard are doing with adding pay 2 win creatures, and yeah I wouldn't have even purchased it if i didn't need to use it for a video I was making haha, I haven't used it since I bought it. I would have been happy with just the Bob's Tall Tales but adding creatures like that is not cool. This map is definitely a bit early to buy for most people I think which is why I recommended to wait a few months, I am excited to see it finished though!

You do realize that most of the money goes to the mod makers right? To help with making said mods. Because the mod creators also have live and work outside of mod creation. If you don't like it, then just stay away and play the free version of the map.

I agree with you in most cases, Only thing i'll say is that I believe it's different with mod maps. Back in the day we had to pay for all the DLC maps that were added to ARK: Survival Evolved. For example yes, this map isn't ready to be named premium, and like i said in the video, you should definitely wait a month or 2, maybe more. However I do believe that any mod map that hits a 100% completion (Which is only Forglar and Svartalfheim) is worth a price tag? it takes months even years of work for a small team! It's optional at least, I still don't think everyone purchased the official DLC maps right away anyway.

I don't agree with what Wildcard are doing right now adding pay 2 win DLC creatures to the game as it forces people to buy them especially in PVP. I only bought the Pyromane because I needed to feature it in a video, would never have bought it for PVE purposes 🤣
