Essentially, imagine the 5 minutes in the day you are most alert, and then imagine extending that period of time to 5-6 hours. You either become really productive or really distracted with chores and miscellaneous tasks; so if used, make sure you have a structured day schedule before taking it (as is the case with or without taking the drug). 100mg does the job, 200mg feels a bit overboard and you start feeling 'overstimulated', very chatty, time seems to 'fly by', with a slight headache. Modafinil works very well with caffeine, for me anyway. Hydration is a must throughout the day, some people have described it as modafinil's 'fuel' - otherwise you feel a bit 'brain foggy'. Taking every other day, or 1-3 times a week stays best for avoiding tolerance and it has a long half-life (~12-15 hours). It's not a substitute for hard work, but certainly is a supplement for ensuring you are in a good 'mind-state' for engaging in the work.
@myg0tpurepunk8 жыл бұрын
Great way of defining it, I find I do things very logically and quickly but correctly. Where I normally wouldn't, but don't take it if you have nothing to do. It makes you want to do chores, without any and you will end up either finding things to do or being annoyed imo.

I've noticed 3 entirely different results with each use. The first time I tried Modafinil, I took 100mg after a full 8 hours of sleep and I didn't notice any wow factor affects; however, I didn't do anything productive that day. The second time I took a full 200mg and my day was amazing. My thoughts were clear as glass, my attention to detail was forensic, my memory I/O was better than a spoiled child, my spelling and vocabulary almost got me beat up (hatters), and my listening/comprehensions skills went from Siri to Alexa, Lol. All in all, my full potential was definitely present. My problem-solving skills evolved, I was very productive, more creative, and able to articulate my thoughts much better. The downside: I skipped lunch and dinner, and I didn't go to sleep till 5 am and needed to be up for work by 6:30 am. I took another 200mg when I woke up and now I notice that my mind took longer to work as fast as it did yesterday. My thoughts were muddy, my timing was slow, my focus was off, my eyes were bugging, but after 2 hours I was wide awake as if i sleep for 15 hours, and I didn't feel jittery or lazy. That might be the effects of little food, exercise, and sleep. The good news about today is I felt like writing this long a$$ comment. Typically I never leave detailed comments on KZbin. Overall, It's not the instant smart drug people believe it would be; it's close, but not limitless. I'm still the dumbest person in my office just not the laziest anymore. I have an unfair advantage being that I can work longer and run circle around almost everyone (except Adderall users). It gives me the confidence to believe that I'm smart and makes me read/write entire books without breaks, (exactly why I can't stop writing now). Unlike Adderall, I feel like Modafinil will help me get smarter over time. #nomoreprocrastination Side note: Even if you have all the focus in the world none of these Nootropics will give you discipline. Adderall did make me more motivated, but bad discipline will make these Nootropics worst. E.g. I want to be extremely focused on work right now, but instead, I've been on KZbin for the last 4 hours looking up other Nootropic videos. CTFU...

Modafinil changed my life. I got a RX a few years back and it literally destroyed depression that I had which I didn't view as depression until it was gone. In short, I was unwilling to ever leave the house on the weekend. If I had to go to a family party on a saturday- I felt like my entire following week was ruined. The weekend was so important for me to recharge my batteries for the following week but to a very extreme degree. I started taking adrafinil to counteract lethargy from methadone, then when I told my psychiatrist, she prescribed it to me off-label. It's expensive but I'm a software engineer with a good salary and luckily I can afford it. I may or may not discontinue it when I finally finish tapering off of methadone in about 4 months but it's noticeably changed my life in so many positive ways.

Not all weird and unnatural feeling like ritalin and amphetamine were. I don't see why you'd use it for recreational purposes. Feels about as "recreational" as caffeine to me but I guess we're all different, and maybe yall are taking way more than me. I'm gonna go off of it eventually (reducing down to 0 as I get healthier) but I needed it to help me be able to start working and everything so for anyone with CFS it might be worthwhile to ask your doctor about it.

In my experience, caffeine tends to take all the energy you have available in your body and cram it into use within a short time frame. Then you crash. With Provigil, its effects are so subtle that I don't notice them, just the lack of them when I forget to refill on time. Extreme fatigue is the most aggravating one, but that's why I take it in the first place.

I say Modafinil is the best drug in the world in terms of substances that aren't used for a "medical" purpose (not to take away its huge importance for the conditions it does treat). Coffee is great, but it makes you want to talk, express ideas, and think deeply about random things. Ephedrine has the same drawbacks minus the gregariousness. I can't speak on other stimulants as big brother determined that accessing them is grounds for the removal of one's human rights That being said, if you want to get a lot of work done, particularly highly technical work like programming (what I do all day), it takes a certain amount of willpower to keep going. Traditional stimulants are useful in this regard in that they add willpower to your stockpile, but this is where they differ from modafinil. More on that later. Willpower is a limited resource which is at it's peak when you wake up, and only drains until you fall asleep. Some days there's lots, some days there's little. Say what you will about the importance of discipline and increasing willpower, but you cannot deny the efficacy of a substance which just puts everything on easy mode. It's literally like when you go from the hard difficulty to easy mode in an RPG. Suddenly, you can take 10 slashes before dying! Modafinil makes the price (if you will) of things that cost willpower lower - like 80% lower. You can work for 12 hours straight, and if your base level of willpower and drive are high enough, you always end up with plenty in the tank by the end. That's a hell of a lot better for maintaining momentum and a healthy mindset than going to bed every night wrecked by the day's efforts. You can still do that, but the price you pay is more tolerable since going balls to the wall on moda produces much more output than without. With other stimulants, you get a ton of additional willpower, but modafinil just lowers the cost of things that require willpower. That being said... *Modafinil + caffeine + ephedrine = extra willpower in a willpower economy that got all its prices slashed to 80% off.* This combo can be used to make sure you get crazy levels of work done, yet you can almost always go to bed without feeling like you gave 110% that day. The more time you spend with an empty willpower tank, the more you hasten burnout, so the importance of this cannot be understated. The downside, however, is that once it wears off, your mental power turns to mush. All the willpower in the world is basically useless as the brain fog sets in. I consider this to also be a benefit as it gives me a very clear cutoff for my work. It's hard to stop working, hard to turn it off. An inability to control one's drive is always a huge risk with burnout. Fortunately, the brain fog makes all your efforts moot, so you have no choice but to chill out and get to bed on time (assuming you take it as soon as you get up and don't give yourself insomnia like an idiot). In summation, I think modafinil is the best drug for the purpose of increasing productivity because of its unique effects that greatly compliment whatever your stimulant of choice is. Mixing stimulants is potentially dangerous, and the effects you'll get will be additive (they just increase willpower) so it's probably not useful to make a cocktail for the purpose of productivity as opposed to just dosing appropriately with one substance. However, if you combine a traditional stimulant with modafinil, you will get an effect that is not additive, but complimentary in a way that allows one to greatly reduce the dosage of the traditional stimulant(s) - all of which are highly addictive and increasingly distracting at higher doses. I genuinely think that for the last reason alone that any stimulant user should always combine their stimulant of choice with modafinil due to its non-habit-forming properties and ability to greatly potentiate any stimulant (disregard if the substance in question interacts negatively, obviously). I used to drink LITERS of coffee before modafinil. If I had just two cups in a day with moda in my system nowadays, I would probably feel like I'm dying. I'm still addicted to caffeine, but it honestly feels irrelevant when you only need 300mg to avoid minor withdrawals as opposed to damn near a whole gallon of coffee to avoid turning into a demon in agony. The potentiation of caffeine caused by modafinil and low doses of ephedrine make the tolerance creep comparable to the movement of tectonic plates. I used to need tolerance breaks for caffeine (when I exclusively used caffeine) every three months. I started using moda and ephedrine about a year ago off an extra long tolerance break for caffeine, and I'm still nowhere near needing to do another one. After 11 months of tolerance building, I'm only at 500-700 mg of caffeine a day thanks to moda + ephedrine. Not to mention, I've been using 200mg of moda for 11 months quite frequently, and it seems I still have zero tolerance. How in the hell is that possible? Drugs don't work like that! It's the craziest substance. I can't recommend it enough, it just makes smart drugs usage so much safer and effective that it's a no-brainer. Moda #1

I have learned that you have to be in a good state of restfullness and feeling OK in order to get the full benefits of Modafinil. If you have not had a good sleep prior to taking it you may feel goofy, jittery, nervous, etc. I have taken it when I felt good in the morning and it did what it was supposed to do, that is, alert and goal minded to accomplish your tasks. Bottom line is do not take it if you are not feeling well.

Well thats a load of crap. I have cronic insomnia I cant sleep for more than 1 hour at a time. In the morning when I get up I feel like shit but I know that by the time I get to work I will be feeling 110% better when the Modafinil starts to take effect. The thing with Modafinil is the lead time. It can take several hours to take effect. After 15 years on it if you have compatible DNA for this medication then its the first thing you do when you wake up. Take your Modafinil straight away. Even if you have been up all night you may need a larger dose but after a couple or hours you will feel like you had a normal sleep. Another trick is taking the Modafinil before going to sleep. Especially if you know you only have a couple of hours before you have to be up. After 2-4 hours of sleep you will wake up feeling like you have had a full nights sleep. Again all of this is on the basis that you have the compatible genetics for this medication.

I take this drug. Its effects are helpful but not as strong as aderall. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Aderall can definitely lead to dependence and addiction easily and its risks are much more dangerous. I'm amazed at how safe this drug really is. How can someone take 5000 mg and get just a headache and nausea? Just 15 or 20 Tylenol would kill a person! Why on earth would a person ever try to overdose on any stimulant anyway? That sounds like it'd be the most horrible feeling ever! For those of you who haven't tried modafinil, aderall, or Ritalin, please consider trying this drug first. The latter 2 can lead into bigger addictions such as Methamphetamines. Long-term aderall use left me personally affected. Now I suffer from chronic fatigue so severe I struggle to function andits intensifiedan existing mood disorder. I have been off aderall for 5 years and still have never felt the same as before I took it. People assume it's no big deal, but it's much more risky than oyrxpopulation realizes.

In Norway only drugs that is highly addictive like Morphine and Heroine and up as Class A, so why is this considered a class A drug here in Norway if it is not addictive? Something is not right......

I took 52 Tylenol and survived, even hours after it processed in my system (although I severely damaged my liver.) Modafinil is not metabolized in the liver like Tylenol, or like its sister drug, adrafinil. but I am also surprised that that person did not have worse side effects or died due to immense heart palps.

It doesn't necessarily last so long, lol. Excuse me for gravedigging your comment from about a year ago. Modafinil, if taken half the dose, lasts half the day. It's like food. Your stomach consumes as much as you've given it over-time. If you take 200mg, for example, it lasts 10-12 hours (personal experiment). If you break the pill in half, it lasts 5-7 hours.

My doctor said I cannot mix the two as in take them at the same time or within hours apart I have to take one in the morning and one at night. Something to do with an ingredients that is in the Lexapro, that can't mix with the Adderall or something like that I'm not too sure how to explain it. But maybe you know what I'm talking about. Anyway my question is, if I switch over to modafinil can I take modafinil and Lexapro together?

Hi. I tried 100mg of modafinil this morning for the first time. I´m a healthy person and weigh 50kg. The drug gave me a bad headache and I felt a bit anxious and dizzy. So it didn´t help me focus on my work and felt weird most of the day. Should I try a smaller dose or is this drug just not for me?
@TheDrugClassroom7 жыл бұрын
Headaches aren't uncommon, some people find keeping up their water intake is helpful. Anxiety and dizziness are less common, but still among the potential negatives. The collection of negatives at 100 mg may just mean it's not going to be the ideal drug for your use case, but you'll only know from trying the same dose or a different dose. If it continues to be problematic, I'd just avoid using it.

Gallium Games unbelievable that they haven’t found about adrafinil. I would assume that it must have similar effects, similar to how vyvanse is similar to adderall, but slightly different and longer lasting. It has to be metabolized and this small factor can actually make it more enjoyable than modafinil for some. I for one very much prefer vyvanse to adderall, and but modfinil and adrafinil are the same to me
