You make it sound so great! When I tried it, the bass felt underwhelming but the mids and highs are amazing. I guess it's more suited to your playstyle, or those light romantic/jazz rather than my heavier, more percussive playing. With the right kind of music, I think this might be their best model so far.
@PraiseTracks3 жыл бұрын
As always I so appreciate the kind feedback, it is very encouraging. I really think they are learning more with each piano model that continues to bring things up to another level. This particular partnership with Petrof is interesting as they are doing some different things using the anechoic chamber to capture the reference piano which allows to get into some very detailed territory that focuses on the pure sound of the piano without dealing with other acoustic components that are hard to manage at times. All the best.

I can't think of a reason to use sampled pianos any more, this is so expressive and dynamic, why would you use anything else?
@julianmanjarres19982 жыл бұрын
Sampled still have an edge in realism because , well.. they're effectively the real thing audibly
@jonathanosborn48002 жыл бұрын
@@julianmanjarres1998 it depends on the situation. Play a chord, hold it, let go, then play another chord, samples win. But modeling isnt just about customization, it captures behavior, interaction between different strings, interaction with the hammer, etc. Re-striking an already vibrating string, slowly muting the string, more sophisticated string resonance, plenty of ways in which modeling is, in fact, more realistic sounding.
@maximlamoureux41292 жыл бұрын
I disagree. When you play a chord with pianoteq and listen to the resonance, you are hearing the interplay of all the strings and the soundboard, but with sampled pianos you are hearing recordings of all notes separately, it just feels a bit too disconnected to my ears. I do have sampled pianos, but after pianoteq 7.5 i have no use for them anymore.

Pianoteq has a tremendous selection of instruments to choose from. Check out the complete list here: www.modartt.com/pianoteq Pianoteq requires of course a computer and an audio and MIDI interface in order to connect to your keyboard. Many digital pianos have USB connectivity that allows you to interface with your computer.

Pianoteq 7, Synthogy Ivory Grand Pianos or Synchron Concert D. Which has the best piano tone?
@PraiseTracks2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. The Ivory pianos have more of a studio sound profile to them while the SYNCHRON Concert D was recorded in the larger Synchron Stage A. You also have the opportunity to adjust the various mic positions which you cannot do with Ivory. That would be a fun comparison. Thanks for watching. Joyfully! 🎹

I almost missed Pianoteq 7 🤓 where you have the ability to have virtual mics which is amazing as well as have detailed control over the sound characteristics. I might do a video with these three. Let’s see what happens.
@Strop3119642 жыл бұрын
I have played Synthogy Grand Pianos II since they first came out and while I'm a huge Hamburg D fanboy it just doesn't compare to my Garritan CFX. My search for something as good as the Garritan but with Steinway tone led me here :-) I have only played a little on the demo but to my ear it's pretty damn good. Synthogy is not in the same league.

Thanks for the video! Can I ask, how do you feel about staccato playing with the sl?
@PraiseTracks3 жыл бұрын
The action is a little heavy of course and does not spring back very quickly for doing very fast staccato playing. Where it shines is in expressiveness in getting the most dynamically from the virtual instruments, it is truly amazing, especially in the softer dynamics.

@PraiseTracks3 жыл бұрын
Yes, from my hands to your ears. I never want to add anything that will change the sound in any way but want to represent it as true to our of the box as possible. The only thing in the signal chain is some level metering on the main output. Thanks so much for the support.

@@MaxRiley, I am sorry you are not having the results you are looking for. One of the main culprits is velocity scaling. Depending on your keyboard controller I would try different curves as well as try some of the different velocity curve settings in Pianoteq itself.
@MaxRiley3 жыл бұрын
@@PraiseTracks I've tried tweaking with velocity and I believe I have found a good setting, yet the "presence" of the tone is not there as it is instead in your videos. My piano is a Yamaha P-515 by the way. So you're not even using any sort of compressor or enhancer of any kind? I must figure out why mine doesn't sound that good...
@PraiseTracks3 жыл бұрын
Yamaha P-515, that might be the issue. For some reason I have read so much on the Pianoteq forum and others regarding the profile of the Yamaha keyboards. You might try doing a search for Pianoteq and P-515 and see what you come up with. Also you might try the different factory velocity profiles to see how those respond to give you a better idea.
