Modded Fallout 4 on Xbox After Next Gen Update - Let's Rebuild Sanctuary

Modding Fallout 4 on Xbox can bring a lot of life to the game, more than the Next-Gen Update in my opinion. Here's my guide on modding Fallout 4 for creative building.
I go through the entire process including load order. Below is the full list of mods I'm currently using, listed in final load order.

PLEASE READ: Before you go installing all of the mods, we're going to turn a few of them on, start a new game, save, quit to the main menu, QUIT the game. And even restart the console to be safe. I cover it step by step in the video.
Even if you are planning to add these mods to an existing world we'll be starting up a new game first. Do NOT load these into any existing save first.

Thanks for the shout out. For what it's worth, Gruffydd is a Welsh name that is roughly pronounced "Griffith". :) It's good to know that the update didn't break my mod. No reason it should have, since it just adds objects, but still good to know.

Why’s nobody commenting on the fact that we can’t play with mods offline now? The game literally disables every single one in your load order when you aren’t connected to the internet, essentially forcing you to update/risk losing the mods you enjoy.

You can on the pc version, you can on ps5, but they’ve just fucked us series x users into forced constant connectivity, for an exclusively single player game…

I had my load order set just the way I liked and planned to keep the game offline and not update - I was happy with the mods I had + the 60 fps boost mode, albeit at a compromised 1080p. Unfortunately hand was forced as the instant the update went through, Microsoft pulled fps boost mode from their end. And it just felt terrible at 30 fps with high input lag on top of that. Bathesda are shoddy, and they don’t care about their players. They just want to force you into being always online and up to date so they can push their atrocious overpriced creations onto you when there’s free mods 1000 x better.

5 guns which should have been included in the base game to begin with!?! Amazing!!! A base game gun that behaves in identical fashion but it’s spray painted camouflage!? For 10 dollars?! So cool Bathesda, take my money. If you’re gonna rip us off at least find some good mods/modders, why do they always add the most ridiculous and useless ones to the creations store?

Unfortunately I doubt it… Would be a very easy fix and it’s been over a month. Would’ve happened already. I think if enough people complained they’d address it, but most players are so used to being online all the time that they prob haven’t and won’t even notice. Until servers shut down/something else goes wrong. Why have all my mods disappeared!?!? I think those of us who rarely sign into live are in the minority these days, and so there’s little incentive for Bathesda to fix it. And tbh I think these companies prefer we’re always online, even in single player games they’d profit from it, even if it’s purely an accurate player count to base future decision making off 🤷‍♂️

I'm so happy that Bethesda added modding to the console versions of Fallout. I wish more games would do that as well. I mainly play consoles but the modding aspect has always intrigued me about PC. So it was cool to finally experience it, even at a more limited capacity.

WOW! I’ve been playing with going back to Fallout 4 but waited until after the Next Gen update. I downloaded alot of game mods that reportedly work last night but I think I’ll start over. This was a wonderful tutorial for someone only passingly familiar with mods on the Xbox. I was considering switching to my PC but I really like playing on the console with our Series X & 65” OLED. The name of the mod creator (or whoever ported it) works pretty well to find specific mods on console

It's generally not advisable to use scraping mods. The game loads up entire groups of structures and objects bound together in what is called precombines. Disabling/deleting will break precombines and cause instability in your games. On the pc precombines can be repaired after scraping, but the xbox doesn't have this luxury. I recommend using mods that make some textures invisible like No ugly plants and more-amber1019.

I hope all are familiar with the risks of modding in general, that same risk exists in base Fallout 4 on Xbox. I've lost multiple save games to corruption on unmodded Fallout 4 on Xbox. I expect nothing less from modded Fallout. One character had 13 days of playtime. That was a punch to the gut. I just want to build and simply hiding some things won't do the trick. But appreciate the risks of messing with precombines. FYI Creation Kit tools can regenerate precombines for XB1 and PC but NOT PS as these are counted as external assets and blocked by Sony. But obviously that's beyond the intended audience here.

There's scraping mods you can use that doesn't break precombines as well.

@@eshapena5203 I heard that sts may work but I can't confirm. Clean my settlement redux is the goto on pc but the maker of the mod stated on his nexus page that the 1 on xbox causes random crashes and advised not to use. The other reason I stopped using scrap mods long ago was because some crash your game when entering the vault from the dlc. I tried to use the popular 1s back in the day, but I couldn't get into the vault with them active in my LO.

I did a clean install for the new update and ended up with the 0gb space for mods bug. Then my game crashed twice within the first 10hrs. I’m desperate for a new playthrough but its feeling like a slog to get there. I’m going to have to uninstall and reinstall again and hope the mod space comes back.

Cheat Terminal is pretty mandatory for me. I use that all the time.

Can i ask why you're using S.C.A.P instead of Scrap Everything? It's been a staple in my LO for years, so I'm just curious if there's a difference.

It's the most compatible from my testing but if it's still working for you after the Next Gen Update, stick with it.

Best way to search for mods on xbox is use the mod authors name, if you know it (if the guide video on KZbin you are using lists it)

Cool. I aint never used mods and i want to spice up my survival mode playthroughs now with this next gen update. Git a series x and i want to try sone mods out but im abit weary using mods cause i dont want to break my xbox lol. So please gelp a new mod user out man ❤

I cannot get Do It Yourshelf to work, no matter what I try. I've gone into the Pip-Boy menu and turned both menus on, but it still doesn't show up as a build option. Any suggestions ? ** Do I turn both menus on or just one of them ? Static and/or Container ? **

Turn both on and you'll find DIY at the end of the furniture section. Even if you have other mods like USO that rearrange the menu, check the stand furniture option and scroll right.

When you install mods do you have to start a new game?

Some mods it's best to load into new game first even if you are modding existing game. Backup saves first either way! But the mods I use you should at least load into a game and save once before loading an existing save.

The S.C.A.P mod isn't letting me scrap everything. It's letting me scrap corpses which is a bonus, but things like buildings isn't working. Followed your video to the letter.

Are you scrapping Sanctuary houses? It should let you scrap all of those. But not everything is scrap-able at other settlements.

@@MoveTheMouse Yeah, I was. I worked it out. I had a heap of other mods, none that do anything with scrapping. I moved SCAP to the very bottom and now it's works perfectly.

my favorite sanctuary mod have serious problems after next gen update, Sanctuary Estate Clean Version =( after did all steps he works perfectly but only one time, when you leave sanctuary and try back with fast travel, game freeze and crash =(

It's why I tested all these mods for over 24 hours of gameplay before posting the video. A lot of mods aren't working after the next-gen update. And Xbox mods definitely get updated less than their PC counterparts on Bethesda.net or Nexus. Mods that adds things to the game like objects are less prone to error than mods that change behaviors like SimSettlements. It's why I'm focused on building settlements for now.

@@MoveTheMouse managed to get sim settlement 2 working now had to download the workshop framework but the one I had was not the correct one it was a script mod but have got the right one now and omg am I having fun right now I’ve had no crashes yet played 2 hours on Xbox series s so I think it could definitely be a one to look at , thanks for the replies too appreciate that I hope you bring out more next gen fallout content!

Don't worry about library. Look for the "Load Order" button and check there. The library and favorites are inaccurate at best.
