I understand the technical reasons why PSVR2 had no backwards compatibility but that did hurt sales. Thats exactly the one reason I didnt buy one. And I consider myself an early adopter for new gaming tech. I dont want 2 Sony headsets hanging around my gaming area taking up space

The PSVR thing is fucking dumb. It's like "Here's an accessory for a console that can play most PS4 games, but PSVR games for the PS4 wont work with it." Sony really shot themselves in the foot with that. Kinda looking forward to the new alien movie.

It's a camera tracking issue, the first headset uses an external camera, while the newer headset is aligned with modern industry standards to have camera on the headset, for much better tracking. If you are a VR enthusiast you would just have both headsets hooked to your PS5 simultaneously and have a great library you can't find on Steam. Give VR time to grow. It hasn't disappeared because it's not a gimmic, Capcom has proven this. Sony selling 1.7 million headsets is actually really good for the industry. It's only been 1 year, have patience. Metro prequel & Lo Fi are coming soon.

Halting production doesn't equate to failure lmao. 1.7 million soon to be 2 million sales. Sony will either pick up production again, or drop a new version of the headset like they did with the first VR headset, just like they did with PS5 fat for PS5 slim. Metro prequel, Lo Fi, Aliens all point to VR staying alive. Negativity sells on YT, it doesn't mean everyone is correct.

I dont agree with the statement that the gaming industry is going down. Sure there are some big bad news, but there are some of the best games that have been coming out non stop. The indy market is peak rn, lots of good stuff that are not just AAA. We just had dragons dogma release and yea sure bad performance aside, it looks like another banger. Rise of ronin is comin up, ps5 peeps will now get access to hi fi rush, etc etc etc. Big AAA mistakes shouldn't represent the whole "industry"
