Beautiful guitar and playing Ramon. It's a deep winding rabbit-hole the old "bitsa" strat game but very satisfying when you have a great guitar at the end no matter what it says on the head stock!. Peace.

Sounding great as ever Goose. Do you have the bridge floating or decked? What strings and gauges have you got on there? And what is the amp?
@TheGuitarShow7 ай бұрын
Okay this is not my guitar so the owner likes it floating with a set of 10s and 3 spring. I like it with 11s and the tremolo decked also I use 5 spring as Leo intended. Thanks man for watching!

@@TheGuitarShow i know some advocate using the bare minimum to keep it decked, (which doesnt stop it lifting with bent notes or double bends), and some also argue that use less springs, but keep them more stretched out (i.e the claw is almost against the wood) because the springs behave better or more consistently under more tension than you would get with all 5

@@stevehood418 And I wholeheartily agree with you on those points its up to the player to make that choice - however, personally I liked to keep it as Leo intended and also its a reverb chamber as well with 5 springs!!!

My 1997 Hendrix Tribute strat has pickups wound by Abagail Ybarra, who apparently wound most of the pickups in 1968 when Hendrix's two favorite strats were made(blondie and his favorite "black beauty"). Interestingly they were poly finished,since Fender had just started using poly instead of nitro. I read in a book that the blond strat with rosewood board Jimi played when he came to the UK was nicked from Keith Richard's by his girlfriend, who recognized Jimi's talent and knew he desperately needed a good guitar - it said Keith admitted it happened and called it "rock'n roll history". Fender didn't test the parts used for tone, so it's serendipity if they really are the best sounding parts for a strat. There is something to softer metal in the bridge attenuating the highs, so they aren't as brittle sounding perhaps? Every component of a guitar adds or subtracts from the overall tone of the instrument, and I love you're crazy enough (in a good way) to chase tone by going after vintage parts for guitars and amps - you are the guitar geeks nerd - guitar nerd's geek? And a damn fine player too, always enjoy hearing you jam - especially with Bob (he's an awesome player too). Cheers Goose!

I believe Abby started work at Fender in 1958?. There's a difference in the custom shop pickups attributed to her, the one's marked "A.Y" are built by a team under her supervision, the one's with "Abby" on them are personally wound by her.

Question Master Goose, are Abigail pickups actually wound by Abigail or are they wound to the specs she used to use?
@TheGuitarShow7 ай бұрын
They are actually wound by her. Her daughter Josefina also winds for fender

If it's 99,9 Original vintage Fender.... Then it's 100% LEGAL to put a Fender Decal.
