Try taking a short piece of filament and chucking it into a rotary tool or small drill, then press it into the seam while spinning the filament. The friction melts the surfaces and welds them together. It works well and looks good with a little practice.
@ryancarrell31867 жыл бұрын
I'm using a doublestrike to make a hand cannon styled like the destiny hand cannons (not based on a specific one) and it was supposed to be coherent but I messed up one of the seams on the worbla, and your idea for faux weld lines gave me an idea! I'm gonna make it look like it was scavenged from parts. I even bought some wire to make it look like the maker bypassed some circuitry. TL:DR- you helped me work through a project

Love the NERF customization, have you thought of using a pencil eraser to remove the latex protection film. Also if you really want to make a NERF gun based destiny gun. Why not mould a destiny gun you've made ,and then mould the outside of the NERF gun. Then cast a case from the Destiny gun and mix the moulds to create a true destiny/NERF gun. Also the screws you use are called set screws.
@blammers6 жыл бұрын
This is damn impressive. I thought I was ready to do some customizing on my nerf gun, but I see I still have a lot more to plan.

To weld it, put a piece of filament in a rotary tool and use that. The friction will melt the filament and the part, and will fuse them. Use small side to side motion to spread it evenly

Seeing the process actually made me like the final results more! I thought you were going to harvest the foregrip from the airsoft gun for the nerf mod. What are your thoughts on the 3D printing pen? It didn't provide a strong enough bond for welding plastic panels and I have a feeling you could have replicated the same thing with filament attached to a rotary tool.

The issue with the ABS plastic breaking is probably that even a normal, full-sized 3D printer needs to be kept warm in an enclosure when printing ABS, because they can't keep the ABS plastic melted long enough to stick when left open, let alone that little printer pen.
@Picatchuzie7 жыл бұрын
I'm like 70% sure that there's a video on KZbin about different 3D pen welding techniques you could've looked up.

One thing I'd like to clarify: blaster, not gun. Oh and if you want something better to attach stuff, use Permatex plastic welder or something equivalent. It's stupidly strong and fairly easy to work with.

@RebelMerc5 жыл бұрын
Hey just found this video, the idea if the 3D pen is a neat one but as you discovered it does not melt the surface of the materials you are trying to join. However!, this would be a great way to hold it in place while the abs glue dries! What do you guys think? Okay, so you figured that out. But it will work if you are using a different kind of glue. But as I continued to watch I remembered a toy my older brother had when we were kids, it was a plastic wielding tool which you could build all kinds of stuff and then the wielder would use spinning friction to heat and add a bead of plastic to the joint.
