I wish Mtisubishi did more high end models of this little hatch. It actually could have been extremely cool as an upgraded hot hatch. But I guess you would have to take your route and just do it yourself. Which if you have the money and knowledge to do it can be a fun car project. Especially with a base manual model going for a measly 10k.

These engines can actually do quite a bit. Proper sized turbo, intake/exhaust, you can hit 150-160hp which is insane considering how light the car is.

@@spence6144 I know the deal, mods don’t exist so we had to fabricate them. We did front and rear sway bars, strut bar etc all by hand.

No direct turbo kit available. But you could boost it. There’s a dude who did a turbo from an Audi a4 and pushed 10psi for close to 150hp he’s since upgraded the cooling vents in the head to push for 300

Base hp is like a paltry 76 horses. How fast can, say, stage 1 or 2 street legal engine mods/turbo kits/etc get these up to and still keep them running efficiently as daily drivers?

You gain one, lose the other. Keep it Stock. Enhance handling. If it is a CVT you definitely should not modify it. I almost bought a new end of year 17 manual sane burnt orange, but base, for $9599. Great value

Their development budget exceeds yours by several hundred million dollars. I seriously doubt any backyard mods are gonna help that much. If anything, it'll decrease the drivability and efficiency. Just leave it alone and drive it.
