Here's my 2c on the Lich to expand on some opinions I expressed in chat: I've always viewed the Lich as more of a miniature starship than an oversized dropship given its role in lore and in gameplay, and in that sense I thought the plain appearance from before was actually fine. If you look at the Covenant carriers or battlecruisers or even their corvettes they DO have a lot of large unmarked plates despite their simple geometry. With that said I do think this new look is better if only because you are intended to walk on top of it like the Scarab and view it from the top when driving it, but it does kind of represent a realignment of its intended function. That said I think basing it so heavily off the Phantom might be a red herring? Looking at other large Covenenant vehicles like the Scarab or Seraph you can see that the actual _segmentation_ they have is relatively subtle - they don't look like turtle scutes welded together, more like one or two massive irregular harnesses combined with a lot of panelling as if they're designed exterior-first and filled in with machinery. The Phantom is more of an exception than the rule here especially since its shell doesn't extend very far on its underside like the other large vehicles do, it looks like it was assembled from an underbody then the shell pieces bolted on afterwards like a car would be.
