Spent like an hour trying to figure out how to get the damn pump out😂. You're video was the only one that showed and explained how to remove that clip. Thank you so much!

Great video saved me loads of time, but since fitting my gauge is showing incorrect levels any idea whats the issue?
@jeanrojas31662 жыл бұрын
If it started immediately after replacement of fuel pump…it’s more than likely incorrect positioning of the fuel pump. Or maybe the secondary pump is failing or failed.

Everything has gone relatively well replacing my fuel pump until now. I can't get the pickup tube bracket connected to the pump. Through the process of the removal and replacement, I have referred to your video several times and up to this point has been very helpful. But it has been extremely difficult with this bracket. I have referred to your video with the section covering connecting the bracket but there is no visual on how to do this, only the spot where you showed the bracket after you connected it to the pump. Not much room to move and align things in the tank as you know. I hope you or your viewers can add any additional details, photos or videos so I can get this back on the road. Thanks!

I’m sorry that was a super hard thing to try and film and do. If I remember right it was tough to get the clip on and it had to come up from the bottom. I will pull mine out and try to see if I can be of more help

@@ModdingAddiction Okay thanks, please let me know when you find out. I have been working on the remainder of the install so once I get the pick up tube bracket connected, I am familiar with the final steps of the process. I stumbled upon another issue which is, when I try to hold the pump down so that I can screw on the large threaded ring that holds the pump in place, I can't get the pump down far enough to line the threads up and screw it down. I put on a new seal and still have the same problem. Seems like I am the only person having so many problems with this install.

I just change the pump of my 2006 tt roadster but I have a question, the cables that connect to the poles of the pump, everything is placed inside the chamber of fuel, what if there is a spark somehow, for example it moves a little bit in a road bump and a spark is generated, won't that ignite the fuel and then caboom?
@ModdingAddiction8 ай бұрын
Liquid fuel itself is very hard to ignite. It’s the vapors that are highly flammable. Manufacturers make sure to keep all of the cables tight and one length so there is no splicing. All cars have wiring running in the fuel tank for the fuel pump and the fuel level switch. Most cars have a plastic fuel cell so there is no chance of arking. But awesome question and way to think about what you are doing

Hi there! Great explanation video will try to do it myself! just one question, is it normal that the head of the unit is disconnected from the spring? It shouldn't be attached from factory or its like they are? Thks!
@ModdingAddiction3 жыл бұрын
The spring is just in there for movement and expansion. The top is held down with the ring and gasket.

dude, i have a problem with gasgauge, if it full the gauge said it's empty and if is empty said it's full, using a vagcom, i saw the ohm's that mark, more ohm's more gasoline, less ohm's less gasoline, then thats the problem is indicating in reverse, do you know how to configure that on the instruments panel with vagcom? or if is necesary to disasemble the fuellpump and do something with the resistor of the pump? Please help me. ( Nice tutorial dude!!!)
@ModdingAddiction3 жыл бұрын
you might have the best luck with looking at the fuel float arm that is connected to the side of the pump sounds like it was installed upside down causing the reverse output. The piece you are looking for is the metal arm sticking out with a plastic float. Where it connects to the fuel pump there is a resistor their. it should have a bunch of little circuit connections on a small board. that might be flipped. Another thing is the wires might be hooked up backwards. I would try flipping the wires first

@@ModdingAddiction thanks dude, I Will chek that.

My friend you got the wrong fuel pump part, they are different changeover is model year 2002 vin 30000 (before or after that). The fuel gauge works in reverse, high ohms = full vs high ohms=empty, thats why you have the wrong reading. Try to get the fuel pump returned, else I think you can buy the fuel sender only as separate part, again 2 choices as above.
@darkknightr17163 жыл бұрын
@@gplusgplus2286 thaks, I removed the pump and check the resistor and its working in the raigth way, if is down less resistance, if is up, go up the resistance, but the gauge indicator still giving the wrong information, I used a vag-com and just said that the configuration is wrong, do you know if is posibble configurate that whit vag-com?
@gplusgplus22863 жыл бұрын
@@darkknightr1716 no mate, you need to change the sender unit. The one you need works the opposite way resistance wise than the one you currently have in the car. EDIT: Maybe use the sender from your old pump if you still have it?

Nice video man: bracket for the pickup tube... it just clips onto the fuel pump housing, right? Or does it also mount somewhere on fuel tank in addition to fuel pump housing? Will be doing this in a few days when my pump comes in

just on the fuel pump. Then the lid hold the pump in the tank.
