Replacing Audi TT fuel pump [DIY] how to, the audi tt mk1 fuel pump died . this is how i replaced it .follow these steps and you too can fix your audi tt fuel pump.

Just some tips as I did this job recently and watched a few videos but still: 1) Get the VDO part half pump he got in the end, all single pump motors are crap for the quattro 2) The old flexible pipes are a pain to remove, use a heat gun to warm them and pull hard. 3) Dont cheapen out like me and get a new gasket, its only 10-15 from Audi 4) MOST IMPORTANT, after you're done, don't put the black cover back, go to a petrol station and fill up. This is the test to see if the top gasket will leak, mine leaked a lot as I reused the old gasket.

Oui et sur le roadster c'est encore pire ya pas de place et encore moi sur le mk2 roadster... Sans parler des models d'unité d'injection différents certaine n'ont pas du tout les même pompe et donc ce montage n'est pas compatible 1K0919051BH mais 1K0919051AQ est compatible et il y a au moins 50 références différentes qui ce monte toutes mais qui ne sont pas faites pareil à l'intérieur.... Bref c'est le bordel

Try the tapping on the tank method if your stranded and need to get home . Keep Safe, loads of fresh air when your working on getting the pump out

I’m gonna have hammer by my side, I have to be careful because yeah this gonna be my first try on fuel pump ! I just ordered the pump with the same part number ( 8L9919051J ) as the OE and a new Seal too and it’s on the way ! Btw I’m appreciated you vid well great great help, thank you

After i kept going back, with the wrong part , I was on first name bases with them. Thankfully the car is back running again and NCT /mot this week 🤞so fingers crossed

Got given the wrong pump so by the end of it I was like a pro at removing it . I say it would take about a hour or 2 hrs to swap everything. It’s not a difficulty job it’s jut really awkward. Best advice loads of light and open the boot for fresh air . I’m fairly sure I was high on Petrol fumes at one point in the video

Hey so I pulled my fuel pump out, the hose at the bottom with the plastic thing on it was not attached to the pump I’m just a bit curious as to whether that’s normal or if there’s somewhere it’s supposed to seatto the pump

Loosen off the two screws a tiny bit. And it should slide in the gap and then push it down and it should lock in

Well lad, If it has only one pipe at the top it’s for a 2 wheel drive car like a golf etc . If it has two pipes it’s for the Quattro . I got my new pump from “top part” in kilkenny but also saw them on autodoc and car-parts.ie if you get it on the road come to the cork VAGE show at the end of July

Just bought a Sytec pump for my 2001 S3 quattro, first time doing this job.Was it easy taking outlet pipe off the pump? My pump came with new pipes and it says I have to heat shrink pipe onto outlet and carrier.Is this necessary as I'm not sure how to do this..Is it pipe onto outlet then heat pipe with a lighter to shrink it then clamp it ? Or is it ok to use original pipe onto outlet then just clamp? Good video by the way.

I used original housing and new pump because I couldn’t get the pipes off and was worried I’d damage something else trying to pull the 20,year old pipes off that’s why I used the original housing

@@stevenharpervw that's what I'm doing,,using original housing and just swapping the fuel pump over,, original hose on original housing to original pump still needs to be taken off the original pump to connect it to the new fuel pump.. that's what I'm meaning,,does it come off easily? And does it just fit onto the new pump and clamp it down ?

@@darrendarlington4187 yep it’s 4 hex screws for the level sender and then 4 clips holding the lid down in the fuel pump . Don’t forget the rubber O rings

Unfortunately I can hear my fuel pump priming, but nothing. At 137k miles I'm sure it's the pump as I can get it to start with a spray of fluid into the air intake

Did you try gently tapping to top of the pump with a hammer like I did ?

@@stevenharpervw I did, nothing. All fuses/relays checked etc. Car has been sitting a while too. No fault codes either, so 99% sure it's the pump. Great video by the way, will be my guide to replacing it 👍

They do sell the pump separately

Local auto factors said no, their suppliers didn’t. But autodoc and mister auto ( 2 websites ) did sell the pump separately. The bam or any Quattro tt needs a 4 bar pump . With 2 nipples on the top.

@@stevenharpervw pas du tout j'ai une traction et j'ai monté la meme chose en bartek la seul différence est un deuxième retour et encore les model de pompe sans le deuxième retour pour le deuxième réservoir peuvent ce monter aussi sur quattro suffit de faire un montage en T avec des durite, dommage que je ne puisse pas te montrer des photos donc que la pompe a 1 ou 2 retours cela se monte aussi bien sur quattro que traction, soit tu bouche la deuxième sortie si tu n'en à pas besoin et si tu n'en à pas et que tu en a besoin tu fait un montage avec un T et des durites mais ce sont toues les même unité d'injection de la golf, Jetta en passant par des skoda, il y a au moins 50 références croisés et en plus les références adaptable différentes de l'origine... Mais dans un sens tu n'as pas vraiment tort puisque les quattro on toujours la même unité d'injection mais ce montage est valable aussi pour traction je l'ai fait...
