Hello. The blue indicate the bevel amount. Select the edges that need to be beveled and set the bevel amount in the viewport's right side panel to 100%. If you don't see the panel, press N.

Perhaps I am too much of a beginner. I cannot seem to follow along, especially with the keystrokes being cut off on the screen. This is one I will come back to as I gain more experience, I suppose.

I am using version 3.4.1. When I go merge those verts at about 5:05, I right click on the vert and get a menu that let's me merge vertices. However, I don't get the choices you show. I only have At Center, At Cursor, Collapse. Am missing something? At 5:10 it looks as if you extrude the point upwards. Then it looks as if you do a Loop Cut but I cannot get my perspective Loop Cut to lean to the left.as in 5:21. The video is cut off opn the edges so it is hard to follow along with your key strokes.

The M key is what you want to hit to get the merge options menu. You can always hit your search key which is F3 or space (depending what you have set) and type merge and pick the result you need.

@@BlenderForge I am still not getting the options At First and At Last. Only the first three. ALso, if I can ask, how are you making that triangle on the top at 5:20 after you extrude that top point and, it looks like, insert a loop cut?

@@primitivefish5167 Merge at first and at last are only available if you select one vert and then shift box select the rest, or box select and shift click the last respectively. If you just box select all of the intended verts in one action there is no first or last vert in your selection. Make sense? That top triangle (while not the only way to do it) was made by extruding one vertex, box selecting three vertices including the newly extruded one, and hitting F for fill. This is like the P key for the create polygon command in Modo if you have ever had the misfortune of using that program. I added the additional vertex to that triangle by selecting an edge, right-clicking, and tapping S. You could also click Subdivide after the right click to do the same thing.

How did you make the merging at 49:12 happen?! I tried ml as it shows on your screen.

That was kind of quick, wasn't it?! 🙂 That would be M for the merge menu, followed by L for merge to last. Last meaning the last selected vertex.

how did you create the ruins for the normal map?

I don't remember what I used in this case but lately I like to use NormalMap Online cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ Just upload a gray scale image that you want to be a normal. Ideally the gray scale would be something that works as a bump or displacement.
