Another great video Dave. I would have to say it is your meticulous planning and methodical processes to scratch building that inspire me with my modelling making efforts. And this video has given me some ideas for low-relief backscene structures in some more irregular spaces on my layout. Brilliant stuff as always. Cheers, Julian

I am sure the factory will look great. The design looks very like a textile mill in my area which was also right next to the railway. A pipe constantly blowing steam out across the track very close to a signal which was always in the haze and the railway boundary wall there was caked in grey dust which was in he steam. The electric train with MK3 stock brings back memories, at first the buffet was a MK1 and looked odd amongst the sleek lines of the new stock

Excellent content again David love the Linoleum factory very impressive. Tip for weathering the roof of your mk1's, use a black wash streaking across the carriage, you can also drag it down the sides to show dirt running down the carriage from rain. Once dry mist your roof dirt over top to blend the rood roof back.

Leaps and bounds, progress all over the layout in the last 8 or so years is unreal! Cheers for the mention though. You'll certainly suprise a few when all that traction and rolling stock rolls round with some muck on them. Just the simple task like the wheels and bogie frames makes a whole world of difference to those factory efforts. To take them to another level a spot of dark pin wash to the door lines and some grease to the bogies is enough to see them out. I do feel sorry for that chap sat in the corner of the factory given the mundane task of applying basic factory weathering. 😆

Looking good. The hunt originals I had for my oxford mk3as weren't strong enough for if an older loco like a lima 47 or 87 jerked while hauling it, or a newer loco over a dead spot of track, so they kept uncoupling. So I'll need an elite version of them instead. I'm unsure if I'll be electrifying my layout, although I do regularly run electric things like 350s on it.

Hi Dave, I think I have said before, I’m going to be modelling haymarket in n gauge in my loft space and having just fitted a loft ladder and hatch, I’m now looking at flooring. I have modern trusses and was looking at the loftzone raised storage system for my loft. Your trusses and general loft layout is the same as mine. Do you mind me asking you how you got around the fear of overloading your trusses? Did you use loftzone or something similar, or did you build a separate raised platform for walking on? I love your videos, your an inspiration for me to get on and give my ten locos a home! Cheers Davey C
@DeanPark3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I laid wooden planks the length of my loft (fixing them to the trusses) before screwing the chipboard to them. With all the added cross members to support the baseboards I’ve probably added rigidity and strength to my roof structure. Remember, your roof trusses have a factor of safety engineered in, as the roof is designed to take loads of snow, high winds etc without failing. So adding a model railway shouldn’t be an issue. My house is built on a breezeblock/cavity/brick design. The roof trusses therefore sit on the breezeblock walls. A lot of modern builds are wooden framed and therefore the trusses sit on the wooden frame... these houses generally have lofts that can’t be used. I got an engineer to advise, before flooring, removing trusses etc. Then a joiner to assist in adding the required support.
@davidcarlisle49443 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave for getting back. I spoke with a couple of builders today who are quoting for a raised platform that doesn’t touch the joists and is supported by connection to the ring beam. Being a timber frame house I can’t just add joists from the external walls which are only a brick skin. Fingers crossed I have a reasonably inexpensive solution! It’s expensive enough to ready my loft for a layout and as much as I am dying to get on with my layout, there is a limit to how much I would spend to get there!

@Oorail3 жыл бұрын
@@cedarcam Its totally under the control of the creator though. You just have to turn off mid-roll ads, and you can adjust the frequency. Unlike TV where the ads are placed at points to not disrupt the content, on KZbin not too many creators figure that out so its just disruptive..
@cedarcam3 жыл бұрын
@@Oorail OK I did not know because on my channel I do not have any. I upload my videos to share with people not to make money. Dave has been told about the number of adds before and has said he will try to reduce them, maybe he has and for some reason he gets a default setting back again. What is most annoying is where they appear the slightest pause in the sound track seems to trigger them. Another layout I follow only had one midway through in 23 minutes of viewing. On another note I have very recently found someone copied and re edited some of my video and uploaded it on their channel which has adds so they are making money out of it whilst I am not.
