Great to see the weathering on the locomotives and buildings. In my view an area where a lot of layouts fail. Well done.

One of the most realistic layouts I've seen.

Best weathering on stone and brick walls I’ve seen. In fact, the weathering throughout the layout including the locos is first class.

What a masterpiece, the sounds of the English electric type 4 took me back to 1970!!

One of the most realistic layouts I've seen. Good stuff ! 37s have always been my favourite from when I was a kid and the "train set" had a 37 in it and a little industrial shunter. Then, at Stratford, seeing the 37s trundle by with the heat and smell, they became the No.1, Deltics a hair's breadth behind !

You've nailed the layout well done and I agree that the sound of the locos add a very up to date dimension which adds to the whole package.

Thats a superb layout, and the sound just brings it all alive. I’m in the early stages of building my layout but I will take plenty of ideas from this one thanks. Can’t wait to run my class 25 with sound.

As a little boy I used to love the sound of the Class 37 "Whistlers" so later on as a man with the same mental age of 6 I got to drive one on The East Lancashire Railway (well worth a visit). I also miss the smell of the old red corridor carriages and the musky smells from the underseat heaters !

Me too! My first ever train journey was to London on the East Coast Mainline in a train pulled by a Class 37 in the late 1960's. I've loved that train ever since!

You mean 'tractors' as the term whistlers is the nickname for class 40s.

Brilliant layout and DCC sound. Pity about the "band practice" recorded on the sound track at the same time.

Next thing surely has to be to use low pass filtering and play the lower frequencies to a bass unit under the track. I was listening to a recording of a Deltic a couple of days ago. A speaker on the loco can never produce the characteristic throb which is at the extreme low end of the audible sound spectrum.

very nice compact layout , looks like you were keeping several operators busy at once ! could you tell me please , where do you get the levers that operate the points ? i haven't seen anything like that over here in the American magazines .

Im a newbie. Ive seen people have problems with slow speeds on trains where they jerk start and stop. Whats the trick to getting trains to run smooth and consistent at slow speeds?
@ageingrapidly3 жыл бұрын
I'll second this question. Jerky running is so off-putting on layings that otherwise look superb. Did I hear someone reference slow running motors or similar?

wot was the blue class 25 used for please....also lovely layout
@davidlamb89484 жыл бұрын
Looks like an ETHEL electric train heat ex locomotive used when a loco does not have electric train heating for modern coaches ,the loco would have had its drive motors removed but retained its engine and generator and was towed by the main loco and was run to supply power to modern coaches.

I do not aggree that D C C is good . Poor modelors can not use it and it is junk compared to 'dead-rail " ? ? You can have sound with dead rail , Why do people even consider D C C ? ? Maybe it is ignorance , and D C C has irritating wireing B-Funkin, Sheet hassles and total crap to deal with under table and gibberish , do not do it ! ! !
