The 22 Model Y is very comfortable. Tried both the 3P and YP. YP won my heart. More space, more comfy, and rides real smooth (Chill/comfort steering). 0-60 3.5 sec.

Both cars are essentially the same, just one is an actual small sedan, the other is a small crossover. If you compare the trim levels, they both offer about the same. The decision should come mostly from the available room inside. If you need more space and optional a third row, go for the Model Y. Otherwise, if you are going for a regular sedan, go for the Model 3. If you are looking for better performance, well, only the Model 3 really offers the.... Performance trim which is the fastest of all trims both for the Model 3 and Y. A lot of people I talk to want to know which is better, faster, comfortable, bigger... blah blah. Stop asking and go to a Tesla store to compare them. Inside they are basically the same, outside they almost look the same, and like I said, it all comes down if you want more space or not, or, the best performance. Even price is about the same on the same level trims. As for me, I went with the 2022 Model 3 Performance, even with 3 kids, I wanted speed and performance, my wife has a Kia Carnival SX Prestige (top of the line 7 seats with all the luxury and gadgets for the kids including integrated tablets on the middle row) so there was no reason to go for a Model Y. Wish Tesla would get in the mini van business, I would get one probably sooner than later once the Carnival gets old. Cheers

Model Y has an available OEM tow hitch, useful for light hauling and installing a bike hitch rack. In the US, Model 3 is not rated for towing and has no OEM hitch. Aftermarket Model 3 hitch is difficult to install and not suitable for carrying heavy e-bikes.

Great job, as always, Chris. I love my Model 3 LR AWD with AB, but have to admit, at my age, ease of ingress and egress makes me kind of wish I had a Model Y. I wish I could afford to have both! A second EV is in my future, but I am hoping that prices start to come down a bit, especially for used Tesla's.

@@PorkchopExpression I'll be 63 in January and the key is to stay in shape and learn how to get in and out as gracefully as possible (not always possible!) Still, I love the handling and everything else about my Model 3 (and its well-proportioned looks). No more kids to tote around and our goldendoodle has plenty of room in the back seat, so, I guess I'll just try and be happy. At least it's paid for!

If you bought the LR version, then get the acceleration boost. It's in the Updates/Upgrades section of the Tesla app, and you get the update within seconds! For $2000, you can speed up your 0-60 speed by 0.5 seconds, which is significant when you're in the 3's and 4's for 0-60. There are a bunch of videos on YT about how much faster it feels with the acceleration boost.

As somebody that has both as well I would definitely say if you're going for the long range or standard versions of the car go with the Y because I feel like the overall comfortability is better but if you're going for the performance version I would definitely get the 3 as it handles way better and feels less janky at high speeds

I was in the market for an EV and narrowed it down to the model 3, model y and ioniq 5. The Hyundai was out bc of charging infrastructure and the model Y is way too expensive. Went with the model 3 and I think it’s the only Tesla worth buying at the moment. It’s the only Tesla that punches above its weight in terms of almost everything, specially price. I also liked how it drove much better than the model Y. I come from hatchbacks sporty cars. At $66k for the model y… that’s closer to the Taycan than I really feel comfy paying. Lol

We looked & test drove the Tesla (3 & Y), Porsche and Audi, but due to the fact that we have a dog (and looking to acquire a 2nd one…) and also lead times, ended up with the YLR (+acceleration boost). Without the dog and need for additional space, we would probably have gone for the 3P.

Virtually yes, but practicality? 15 cubic inch in the Model 3 compared to 34 in the Y? That’s a huge difference. If you don’t plan on ever using that kind of space then by all means the 3 is for you, that’s why it was made.

I will pass on both of them. I guarantee the day will come when you will not be able to charge your car for a long period of time. I can drive across the country in about 5 or 6 days it would take you 3 times that long if you're lucky in a Tesla. On top of that I do not find the car attractive in any way and for $130000 I want a h*** of a lot better looking car than that.

This didn't help me at all. In a good way lol. One minute you had me wanting the 3 because of handling then the next i wanted the Y for the hight and not feeling like I'm sitting in the ground. So like you said at the end I'm going to have to test drive them. I had the 3 as a rental a couple weeks ago which is what brought me here today lol. However, my neighbor has the Y and it looks like it would be a better vehicle for me. We'll see once i test drive the Y. Great video!
