instead of tracing the complex shape you could put it in photoshop, turn the contrast up and use the image as a displacement map, deleting the exccess geometry and done

you don't have to draw all the outline through 3ds max. first you input the image that you want to Photoshop and make it black and white. and also big contrast. save the image and open it on AI. and use the AI trace button get the outline and save as dwg. and you can open it in 3ds.

+Mustapha Lahmidi Well actually i have Max 2010-2015 ( still don't have 2016) but that's besides the point. The modelling ribbon is present in all the versions of Max that are 2010 and older.

i do use 3ds max 2012 '2014' 2015...u see at 5 minit when u do convert to edit poly,,then all modifiers shortcurt at the top of ur viewport..how does u do that?

Just so you know, at 5:03, it's simply a Voronoi diagram.

Yeah i actually learned more about Voronoi a few weeks ago. The actual math behind it is great as it can be used to create a wide variety of things, especially for parametric models

@@DenisKeman Definitely ! But don't overuse it ha ha ! Grasshopper in Rhino has an alert when you use Voronoi too much. It basically says that people overusing it have a creativity problem ha ha

Apply a UVW unwrap on the glass and then add a texture to it that would have the diffuse of whatever color you would like to have on your colored glass.

I have another question, I'm trying to make a building facade that is similar to the pattern you made in 27:00. I'd like to insert variable panels (eg. transparent, solid, color variation) within the openings. Do you have any tips on what would be the best way to approach this?

+Jane Tran Select the polygons from the wall on the left side .. inset them for a small amount and then detach it as a clone. Move the clone into position and use it as a glass. Word of advice though, since glass has thickness add a shell modifier to the panels before you call it finished. Happy modeling.

Jane Tran If you did the inset then it shouldn't delete everything. Basically you have two ways of deleting stuff in max, first one is by pressing Delete which does just that, and the second one is ctrl+backspace which removes
