@11:40 You measure from the model, not the weapon for the tank. You also do not need to draw line of sight from the weapon, just the unit. Glad to see some Grim Dark love!

Nice to see more people playing OPR. (Also, I'm 80% sure you got it wrong for attached hero units and morale, the hero doesn't detach from the unit if all the other models are dead, that hero should've taken a morale check)

Absolutely. If you are a bit fed up of Warhammer bloated rules, this is a nice clean simple alternative.

I played my first game of grimdark last week, with a mate I also play Bolt Action with. We were wondering about using a random order dice draw like Bolt Action....I had a tank, and because of the guaranteed 1st turn by ending first in the previous round, made the tank very powerful.

This rule set is awesome for matchups like Bolt Action Armies vs aliens, or modern day forces vs terminators. I really enjoy looking for likely vehicle conversation candidates in toy isles.

Honestly as someone who has the optional rules, I'm not a fan of most of them, the extra complexity sorta defeats the whole point of OPR. I do enjoy the extra missions and deployment rules though

Nice battle report. I wanted to see OPR compared to 40k. I like the speed of OPR,but I feel the Marines are weaker as compared to 40k. Also,the choice to shoot or go into close combat is interesting. I love the alternate activations. I think 40k needs that.

It isa lot lighter than 40k and for me, much better for it. That said, it is not to everyone's taste.

Nice - I do like these rules. I'm really enjoying Xenos Rampant for my large skirmish sci-fi game of choice right now, but it's great there are these decent free rules for anyone who wants to venture outside of the 40K ruleset.

can strongly recommend running the infiltration bros with sniper scopes and medical training. they get pretty pricey but a genuine threat for enemy commanders that are hiding and buffing units

very cool, nice battlereport, very clean edit too! i must mention that vehicles often have fast, in this case: the tanks both had the "fast" keyword so they wouldve moved 8" before fireing. would love another one! thanks for sharing!

Mike decided from the beginning he was going to kitbash his primaris, as the range extends he is having to work hard to find suitable proxies.

Thanks :-) I have a very large collection of space marines collected over the past 30 year but when I lined up primaris marines next to them I just hated the scale creep and just didn't want to mix them. Thus was born my primaris counts as force using primarily Heresy era model with built up bases and weapon conversions - I've got versions of most of the Primaris infantry so far :-)

Great game, great report, but could have used either different camera angles or a different piece of terrain in the middle. Half of the best stuff went on behind that big cog wheel/turbine looking thing where we couldn’t see it!

I'm not sure if this is new for 3rd edition, but the guardsmen's flamer throwers (and most flamers, that I've seen) have the "Reliable" trait which means they hit on 2+ even though the unit's quality is usually worse.

A tactical point for both players is do not shoot at a unit that has already activated that turn unless there are no units that are possible targets . Always a good rule to attack unactivated units

Thats why this version exists. The rules are free and you can use whatever cheep models you want, or they even have cardboard cutouts you can print
