Amazing skill. Flexible Plywood may have solved some landscaping challenges I face. Thank you.

The "tools" used list is very useful. I would also like to see a "material" used listing, plywood sizes, names of glues, and so on. Thanks, this is going to make life easier.

Sure! I'll add it to the video description too but here's the basic run down : 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 Birch plywood. Titebond 2 glue, pocket hole screws (kreg) and self tapping drywall screws.

Love the work, one question. What software are you using for the track plans. Looks like any rail but when you have done it with the HO kato unitrack seems like you have a fuller set of track options. Thanks.

Railmodeller Pro. It's a Mac based program.

Where are you sourcing your bendable plywood nowadays? I’ve checked the local HD and they don’t seem to have anything that fits the bill.
@MRBenchwork3 жыл бұрын
I get mine from cabinet/woodworker supply shops as the big box store stuff sucks now. If you are having trouble finding a place call a couple of local cabinet shops and ask them where to get it. You are looking for 1/4 birch for anything larger than a 24” radius and 1/8” column bending ply for smaller radiuses. You can use 1/8” hardboard (Masonite) but it’s really fussy to work with, is very moisture sensitive, and hates screws so I don’t recommend it for anything.

Could I ask where you source the flexible 1/8 inch plywood. The only product I have found locally (Michigan) labelled 'flexible plywood' was a spongy 1/2 inch plywood with little structural strength but offering a furniture grade single surface. Have you used any of the Home Depot sourced 2.8mm luan for bending plywood?
@MRBenchwork3 жыл бұрын
I used to get my 1/8 plywood from Home Depot exclusively but then they went to a new supplier with horrible quality. I'm now just using 1/8 Bending plywood (barrel, not column). That is available generally from most cabinet suppliers. That said PM me with your zip code and I'll find a local supplier for you.

what pocket screws do you use and the screws you use for screwing the half inch ply to the frame ?
@MRBenchwork4 жыл бұрын
1.25 in fine thread pocket screws for assembling the benchwork. For securing the table surface I just use 1.25 drywall screws

OK ok ok I've been asked by like 15 people this week alone. I think I've gotten the message. I will have it put together and on my site in the next few weeks. I'll make a video announcement when it's ready.

You using like a $500 in clamps...instead use Wacky-wood.
@MRBenchwork3 жыл бұрын
It's called bending plywood around my area and the clamps aren't to hold the shape, its to hold the ply's together while the glue sets. I also use 1/4 plywood in some instances and it does require the clamps. Trust me I've been doing this for 11 years.
