Here's a vata trick similar to your well analogy: I'm reading 5 books, 1 chapter at a time then switching to the next book. This keeps me from getting bored of one book after a few chapters and not finishing it. It also makes each book more interesting because they're all very different!

It's SO relieving to see other models. Being an "INFP-T" according to the Myers-Briggs test really simply depresses me because it makes me seem so weak, hard to cope with this world that is dominated by people with quite the exact opposite traits. The big 5 personality model also makes me seem weak, similar to the other one. So seeing Vata Pitta Kapha kind of gives you a different approach that sometimes you simply need more endurance and slow-paced thinking to calm your mind and be successful, etc, rather than seeing the bad in being "introverted" and categorizing this way. It kind of negatively implies that it's hard to cope with the society, etc. Cannot explain how valuable this is.

I had an accoustic guitar at home but I never used it because it's too far away, a few months ago I've bought an electric one and put it right next to my desk so that I can't say that it's too far. There are still weeks that I don't play it but it is much easier when it is right next to me at all times.

Same here, don't stress about it. I had a guitar for a while now, I used to be upset that I haven't progressed as far as I would like. That's something I've learned that stems from comparison. After all, comparison is the thief of joy. It also make sense why I keep on wanting to acquire more instruments, even though I have access to electric/ acoustic and a keyboard. I would like to get a bass, drums, and maybe a violin. After learning that Prince has learned so many instruments, I kind of want to give that a shot. Best of luck to your music journey Check out Rick Beato on YT

16:29. Dr. k talks about people being other kinds of types of people and I have found myself to be a vata personality type. But I started playing the bass 2,5 years ago and I have been going non-stop since I started. Without thinking about it, I found a vata oriented and organized way to learn the bass and I only now realized that I could use the same technique with everything else in my life. My life has steadily become more and easier.

what if these things are just three aspects of every person and it only appears to be different degree because one person has different genes for dopamine receptors and feeling pleasure more, on eats better while other is prone by family practice into worse one giving obesity or brain fog getting different childhood trauma developing different default reactions cycling for refreshing focus works for every person, building daily habit of doing so strengthens the result, while tempering too high excitement repeating also things without reward and increasing it with rewarding oneself after small successes additionally builds internal stability and confidence everyone can be every type or rather every type technic works for anyone it's just the brain framework is more used to one of other technic with built preference and feels off when trying other one at first you can improve dopamine system with that biohacking hahaha breaking even that mechanical imbalance

Hey guys ! I think I'm a Vata too ! I see a lot of you struggling but I just wanted to tell you that it is possible to stick to a thing as a Vata, actually the methods he proposed is the exact method I use ! I have like A LOT of hobbies so much that I had to freeze some of them ^^ My best moments were when I chose what my favorites hobbies were and I was like doing hobby 1 on the morning, hobby 2 and 3 on the afternoon, hobby 4 and rest / watching stuff on youtube netflix on the evening. Though I was really lazy before, i managed to stick to this by taking my time to build habits, that's my little secret ^^ also I don't oblige myself if i'm too tired or I really don't want to, I listen to myself, let's say that I only push myself a little if I can't do one of my hobbies for like a week. Currently I'm working for my first job so I'm just too tired to do all of them XD so I just kept 2 of them that I do whenever I have energy and it's enough cause I know I'm just going to get back to my old good habits when the summer will be over :p That's just the things that fits for me, idk if i'm really a vata or whatever but maybe it will inspire someone or give you some motivation ^^ A last little secret, when I feel REALLY lazy, the best thing is first : if you have someone, to practice with others people ! It's just magic, and even if you have no one my little technic is just to do a countdown : 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and STAND UP and my body starts doing the task/hobby before my mind can say "oh noooo i'm to tired pls stay in the bed :D" I think that's all XD have a nice day and don't forget to listen to you

Thank you Dr. K, from an MFT counseling student working toward Art Therapy credentialing, your lessons are like a guiding star in Western therapy approaches - modules or approaches to ‘sick care’ I have found tough to navigate through my professional career. I have always felt there were major disconnects, a void of disjointed health approaches with philosophies to human health. My intuition was to connect the dots amongst all the factors that make up ‘human’. Your point about Myers Briggs- Carl Jung as interpretations of Eastern philosophies struck a major chord. To be more introduced to the system of Ayurveda makes me realize Jungian approaches I have held dear are merely just a tip of the iceberg of global human health... while it is a bit of an ego burst to hear I am in no way innovative in seeking these integrated philosophies haha, it is much more encouraging I now have a more grounded map to learn as much as I can in these world philosophies to inform my own developing counselor practice. It’s tough not to soapbox share these lessons to everyone sharing my Western lack of awareness, so I also appreciate your approachable and analytical style of information delivery. So yeah thanks!

I dunno if you're gonna see this but I'm actually a speedrunner (second place on the leaderboard) in a very luck dependent game (Stranded Isle) and I have the Vata trait, I probably do have some kapha but I would mainly charactize myself as Vata. How I got to second place in Stranded Isle was by grinding the game a bit, then doing something else and then coming back to the game wheter that be an hour, day, or month from now. I did all of that subconsciously and only realized it like a day ago. I remember the number 1 player called me dedicated and I told him, I leave the game within a week and I left the game several times before and he responded by simply saying, "But you come back" Last month we didnt run the game at all and I thought like the game was dead and this is it, I wont go back to it anymore and I told him this... Last week I came back and got a personal best. I announced it in the discord server and his response was, "That lasted longer than I thought it would."

Thanks you soooooo much. You have no idea the hurt you healed within me. Since I was a kid, my family criticized me saying that I don't stick to one thing or finish what I started. I can say most of my anxiety and depression was related to that judgment. I internalized it so much that I have been suffering since then. Low self esteem, low confidence in myself. I just realized after watching your video that as Vata, all I need to do is have as many projects going on as possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.❤ 🙏🏽

I'm a Vata/Kapha mix (Vata-dominant) and thought I was just broken. I might be a little bit broken because of past trauma but generally speaking... I'm not. I just don't have the traits that are coveted in society but I'm still pretty successful for my age somehow. I struggle with staying consistent and have had some issues with quitting jobs because of feeling overstressed, overworked and unfulfilled (+ the jobs being a bad fit) after less than 6 months each after quitting my first one that I had for almost 4 years and am now trying to see my current, very high-paying for my standards current job where I've been for 3 months as a challenge to pour all of my nervous energy into. I tend to turn into a workaholic when I'm stressed or feel out of control in my personal life and a complete mess at work if I feel overwhelmed by my workload. I thought I was just mentally unstable, but Dr. K just told me I'm valid haha Thanks Dr. K!

This is the first I've heard of these, but I, as well as a lot of gamers apparently, am extremely Vata. I try to learna new language every month and only ever learn greetings and a handful of nouns before losing interest. I try to learn music, coding, art, writing all at the same time. I constantly join and quit clubs. I'm not particularly good at anything, but I do a lot. I look at Kaphas and am jealous that they are able to focus on one task and get really good at it, I never would think that to them it looks like I'm moving faster than them. Like yeah maybe I hit more peaks than they do, but my peaks are so much lower.

Its kind of like in math, you can see integers, real numbers, complex numbers, symmetries, and permutations all as different things that have to be looked sepperately (equivalent to allopathic medicine) or you can notice the similarities in that they all have the same core properties and can be classed as groups, and then study groups as an object instead of any individual group.

What you're describing is analogical vs linear and yes, analogical would be superior because that's how our brain works. Linear systems work great when doing scientific work but that's about it. When it's a matter of problem solving, the analogical approach is what allows us to intuit probable cause. Deviation from that would prove unwise, as a result.

I m not lazy, i m not addicted, i m not single, i m not undisciplined, i have a masters degree, i m not socially awkward, i would be considered poor (with normal society standards: no car, small flat, ..), health wise i m looked upon pitiful ( i have a genetical form of parkinsons with symptoms since the age of 11). I don t feel unhappy (most times) :), the stats of your life don t tell the whole story. You are the only one who can give yourself purpose by choosing the things that you value.

According to your description of the mind, I'm a Kapha in every way. But, I'm not big boned and so on. I'm slim, light, can eat a lot not get fat, natural very low body fat, fluent, fast and sharp at sports. But, my leaning curve Kapha, very confused in the begin but powers on and accels at the end for every profession. So, isn't this correlation of body type and mind a bit of non sense? I can also recall a lot of other people where this does not hold. Also, you could just make any amount of types which vary between low and high dynamic properties of the mind. Like, add grass in between fire and earth/water. But, I guess three types is just practically useful and thats why that is. What do you think of correlating Carl Jungs cognitive functions with Vata, Pitta and Kapha? Because, from the research I've done on my MBTI type, it is apparent that the people with my type tend to be very Kapha when it comes to learning. Anyway, thanks Dr. K for this stuff, interesting.

I don't know if I'm "slow and steady" or not... I've stuck to one thing for the majority of my life(birds) and I've been consistently obsessed with it. I also have a tendency toward depression and when that happens I lose all motivation to do anything. However, at the same time I also have occasional "flings" if you will, where I get temporarily very interested in something for a short period of time. Then I completely forget about it. For example, as a kid I spent up to 14 hours a day solving a rubik's cube for a couple of weeks before that interest faded away quickly and I never picked it up again. Same thing with programming, I went hard many hours a day for a week or two then completely lost interest. In both of these cases I learned extremely quickly and I've forgotten a lot of what I learned. I can still solve a rubik's cube, but whereas I use to do it in under 20 seconds I forgot half of the algorithms resulting in a lot of screw-ups and a 40-50 second solve. If I look back at my code I actually can't decipher the majority of it, and there's no way I could replicate my work without relearning everything.

I got 60-40 Vata-Kapha lol. Looking at the characteristics that the report shows me I can definitely see elements of both in my life but I thought I would be more Vata before I took the test. For the physical characteristics I had no clue how to answer some like "what kind of eyes do I have". Still fun to do however

What's interesting for me is that I'm 70-80% vata but I dislike multitasking. I like to focus, master, and finish one task before moving on the next. I do get bored easily once I think I mastered it though.

I think Ayerveda isn't that accurate when it comes to physiology with body types and stuff like that, but I do believe Ayerveda has our psychology mapped spot on. This is the only "personality" exam that's ever made 100% sense to me. I discovered I lean very Vata and it makes so much more sense now why I struggle in certain aspects of my life.

Or maybe I misunderstood it.

I realize this is an old post. Thought I'd answer for any new people wondering the same thing. Everyone has all 3 doshas in them. Ayurveda aims to balance all 3. When people identify as a specific type, it's because they're out of balance. You work with what you are, and hopefully you will become more balanced as you do so.

I'm a mix of Vata/Kapha primarily - pretty sure, anyway, my stress response is bunker down and HIDE and yet my elbows are so bony they inflict piercing damage - but while I was sorting it all out in my head I realized that the success curve for Vata is exactly what I've been doing since I quit retail. I wear so many hats I can't decide what to put in "About Me" sections on like... Twitter or KZbin or even my website. Like... I have 1400 words left on the novel I've been writing for NaNoWriMo and probably could've finished it four days ago if I hadn't gotten distracted by composing a piece of music for no reason. Big Vata Mood right there. The monkey brain cannot be stopped. On the other hand, once I've been working on a project for a while, I can keep looping back to work on it for literal YEARS and the only thing that will stop me is divine intervention. (And even then sometimes I continue out of sheer stubborn will.) So... there's a little Kapha there, too. :D I'm also absolutely a late bloomer so... ehh. I'm like a monkey riding a mammoth. Anything creative? MONKE. Everything else in my life? Mammoth.
