wow this is awsome. i recently got my hachette black pearl from the attic and i noticed the skeleton of my build had been water damaged. i was wondering if these plans would work with hachette. this is awsome and keep up the work !

I dont think this will match the hacchete kit, the scale should be very close but I think the ribs are in different positions

Yes, go grab one of the 2 beginner kits from Vangaurd models. Chris Watton the owner has designed 2 different high end Victory models, one for Caldercraft and the other for Amati (still in prototyping) he's also done many other kits before starting Vangard. His approach to kit building is very easy for the beginner to learn the skills for more complex builds. I started with his Alert kit, but that was before he had his beginner kits available and the Alert is still not very difficult really with how he designs them.

I would go for something with double planking on the hull, more forgiving, think the hull is what makes most people loose interest in a model, with double planking you can train the planking, use filler on the mistakes and cover it with the second planking that is thin and easy to deal with, thechnically you can get any model and buy thin strips for double planking even if it doesn't come originally with the kit

@@johnmarshall4156 no problem mate, seen too many people start with models that require way too steep a learning curve or poor instructions and give up. Starting with really good kits even if they're not the ships you eventually want to build just to learn the skills helps a lot more.

Looked like an early Christmas present as you unwrapped those laser cut parts. I tried with some parts myself but my coping saw skills were sorely tested and i failed. Plywood was too fragile and myself too impatient! My Revell Black Pearl will become a hybrid plastic and wooden, lighted vessel. But i am excited your project is starting as i know it will be an epic build. one point though. did ships of that time have anti-foul substances on their lower hulls?

There are reports of lead seating going back to 4th century BC, some Spanish ships have been reported to have used lead sheeting very early on, overall, and because we can't consider those a common practice, the time line although not linear is something like, tree resin and talow mix, then thin wood sheeting on top of a layer of hair and a layer of tar, then lead sheeting. Then different "graving" mixtures. And eventually the copper plating, if we consider the black pearl date early 18th century, most likely it would have some form of graving, maybe tar pitch and brimstone mix, but some graving compounds descriptions are as accurate as "a composition of spiritual and corporeal ingridients" so you try to guess what was in it. But yes there's always been some sort of attempt to protect the hulls somehow

It depends on the software that will be used along with the cutter, but yes, most will work with jpeg

It's worth noting there is a chinese kit on offer from company ZHL. There is one kit of theirs based off these plans (their first version) the other two, more popular, offerings are complete copies of the Amati/Hachette release which was also worked on by Chris Watton. I'd emplore anyone with integrity to never purchase or support IP theft in this hobby. Do not support chinese kit manufacturers who steal designs from others. (ZHL have stolen many other plans from a lot of designers)

Oh really? I really thought that ZHL plans were original since I never found anyone with the same plans, especially the ribs. These ones shared in this video are different from ZHL, I know it cuz I've been trying to build my pearl from ZHL's plans that they shared in their facebook profile, but I just couldn't cuz their drawings are not in the proper size between them. There's another japanese plan which we can easily find on the google, but the ribs are all wrong, I showed them to ZHL owner and he confirmed that the ribs are wrong and then he claimed that his own are correct and original.
