Just test drove the dashing, very hard decision as they both look so stunning and the one has 2 additional seats. However what has since sold me on the Dashing is the acceleration thereof, the x70 plus was a bit sluggish when trying to overtake as the power to weight ratio is not great in my personal opinion, however with the dashing being a lighter vehicle, I felt the difference almost immediately when accelerating, which made the vehicle much more appealing as it matches the sporty vibe one gets from the dashing’s appearance. Plus, they come in the beautiful ash grey colour too!

Although I’m quite aware one can’t get everything in 1 vehicle, the lack of forward collision mitigation is conspicuous. My main issue though is the aircon fan. Turning it on to cool the interior of the Jetour Dashing immediately transforms your upmarket glide journey into a ride in a 1980’s Ford Escort on a hot day. Occupants raising their voice to be heard over the extremely loud fan motor which is pushing not even a breeze through the cabin. Otherwise the car has a good set of features and bits that seem to fit together quite well.

In UAE and other part of world, Jetour Dashing has different interior. It has 15.6" display and much more stylish interior. Not sure why in South Africa they copied X70 interior to Dashing.

The problem for me is. The screen on the dash was not very visible on a sunny day. The protective film was still on, don't know if this played a role. Fuel consumption is also not what they claim. I think you should rather expect 10+ L to the KM. Lastly, I think the screen is too small and it's difficult to see anything out of the back window.
@Demertech16 күн бұрын
The fuel consumption will drop after the engine has around 5-6000km on the clock. It has the same. Engine as the tiggo 7 pro and I know a guy who said he was getting 10l/100 in his tiggo 7 pro initially and after 5000km on the clock it's not around 7.5-8l which is much better, the engine just needs to wear in.

Parts availability? Spares available? Any approved panelbeaters? Insurance risks? Resell value?
@AutoBot_7Ай бұрын
They built a 4000sqm parts warehouse in Kyalami which should cover metro areas. Difficult to comment on the rest of the items for a newly launched brand, but as they are part of the Chery group I would not be overly concerned

@@AutoBot_7 that's lekker, you don't want to find your self waiting 7 months for a mirror and grill,, one lady has been waiting for a cherry tiggo bumper 11 months now
@Demertech16 күн бұрын
Honestly I'm not too worried about parts. I know on the original chery tiggo from 10 years ago it was an issue but with the new tiggos and their other brands everyone I know has been happy. As for panel beaters it'll probably be cheaper the replace parts rather than repair, it's the same case on my mom's Suzuki vitara brezza where replacing the entire door was cheaper than panel beating it. There are panel beaters who do Chery though so that's not really an issue. The nice thing with all of the Chery cars is that they share the same 3 engines, they have the 1.5 turbo in the tiggo 4 pro, tiggo cross, jetour dashing, x70 plus, the omoda and the tiggo 7 pro, then they have the 1.6 turbo in the tiggo 7 pro max, tiggo 8 pro, jaecoo j7, omoda sport and some other cars I think and then they also have the 2 turbo in the tiggo 8 pro max and I think in some other cars. In other words they share parts mostly, they also have multiple wearhouses in South Africa. Insurance is pricey for the jetour, around R1100pm from what I saw whereas the tiggo 7 pro max is R700 on the same plan but that's because it's new. Retail value on Chinese cars isn't the best but it isn't bad, check up how much a haval h6 sells for used vs new.

I took it for a test drive. Overall, was good. However, 3 things to take note that I picked up during my short test drive. 1. If you are parked on a slight incline, say abot only 20 degrees, and you start the vehicle and engage into reverse, the car rolls forward. Was actually quite surprised. You have to accekerate a little hard to prevent it from rolling forward. Was very disappointed in this. 2. I scrutinised the paintwork. What i noticed when loooking at it from the rear but focusing on the side doors and side fenders, comparing it o my RAV4, it was not a smooth finish. You will pick this up in the sun. Sort of bumpy for lack of better description. 3. No heated seats even in the top of the range one. Overall, I gave it a 6 out of 10. Very disappointed that SA becoming a lucrative market for these Chinese vehicles, they bring out a 1.5l and not a 1.6l. Personally, Im waiting for the T2, hope they dont dump the 1.5 T2 on us. We are serious about our offroading and wish they bring out the 2.0l in the T2.
@AutoBot_7Ай бұрын
@@NazirKhan-Bash Thanks for the feedback. Also looking forward to the T2. Hopefully it is a 2 litre and the price is competitive Will have a look at the paint finish when I go passed the dealership again. I had to have a brand new Fortuner resprayed due to a bad paint job
