The co-host of HGTV’s Backyard Builds, Sarah Keenleyside, finally tackled her own city yard and the result is amazing! Beautiful fencing, hardscaping and clever details come together to set the stage for an outdoor great room. Complete with a firepit, living and dining zones with vintage finds (plus, a play space for her baby, Jack), this will inspire your backyard dreams, and all on a budget!

I admit...I love the backyard but was super curious about the garage! Our yard has a garage at the back...on an angle and it takes up SO much space. I had hoped she would talk about access (like an alley) for her vehicles and how that physically worked. Thanks for great small yard inspo though!

Yes, it rains in Canada. Yes, those cushions could get wet. Generally, people with outdoor cushions store them when not in use or place furniture covers over them. Furniture covers can be purchased at most big box stores. It's a small price to pay for the comfort of * not * having to sit on hot plastic all summer.

I wonder how this backyard would have looked..... If a garden designer - instead of an interior designer-had been engaged!!! It would have turned out completely different, I am sure. Much more green, more plants, more romance. A garden eventually. This backyard is a living room, without a roof. Seems to be the current trend. And will probably vanish after a while... In case the little son will keep it for his own family... I imagine, there will be meadow, trees and shrubs, roses and bushes... :--))

Considering Toronto gets precipitation 15 days a month totallying no more 60mm it's relatively dry.🌤 For protective purposes Article sells the LEMTOV sectional cover, and IKEA sells the TOSTERÖ storage bag for pads and cushions.

Aging will take a lot of work...anything that include wood even treated wood does not work with our tuff canadian winter. Having to sand everything every 3-4 years is just time consuming not mentioning the cost. Put the all the maintenance on the durable material worth more...don’t even have a garage to store your summer stuff, it will looks bad in 2-3 seasons.
