The PAIN of hearing that girl say "hijacker" over and over again while she obviously means hacker. If you had hijackers at an airport I don't think they'd be interested stealing your information, that's for sure 😭

I drive an hour last week to get to a job interview. When I got there, the interviewer asked why I left a church after being there for over ten years. After I explained that I was excommunicated after being abused on almost every level and could only escape during the 2020 lockdown, the interviewer decided to ignore all of that. Instead, he tried to convert me back. Waste of my goddamn time.

ironically, while i'm still a christian and have never stopped being one, i stopped attending church many years ago (some religious trauma stuff; i just discovered spirituality and religion are not exactly one in the same hence i still practice). however i also think in general any kind of spirituality should not really be viewed as a bad thing, as it can be a healthy coping mechanism if done right... basically your relationship with spirituality/God/the universe or whatever you wanna call it should be completely personal and not really be too greatly influenced by what some other idiots who have completely forgotten the whole point of the belief say.

My mom's an atheist, she grew up in a Catholic house but lost her faith over the years for her own reasons. I asked her once why we don't go to church and she simply said that she doesn't believe in it so she never thought to take me. I was invited by the neighborhood kids to go to Sunday school once. I don't know where folks get the idea that atheist parents shelter their kids from religion because when I asked if it was okay, she instantly said it was, I was just responsible for getting myself up at the crack of dawn, which was fair since I knew how to set an alarm and got myself up for school a lot. I think giving kids the option to explore their faith makes them less likely to use it as a rebellious outlet later down the line.

When I was in highschool, we had a youth group meeting where the activity for the night was that the Seniors had to wash the feet of everyone else at the meeting and it was SO uncomfortable and you could just tell the Seniors did not wanna be doing it. Also everyone had to participate you literally couldn't opt out and if you tried to leave they'd be super judgey like "you're denying the chance to walk in the path of Christ." And seeing the Superbowl footfetish comercial in this video just violently resurfaced this traumatic memory from like 8 years ago

i liked the sound of that gen z church, if they take out the things a lot of us see alongside religion (homophobia, sexism etc) it would be great. i’m not religious, but i know that what a lot of people think god said is wrong

100% true. People have used religion to justify their hate and their horrible deeds since religion even became a thing. The colonists claimed it was their "God given right" when they raped and slaughtered the Native Americans, and the church used to preach that you'd go to hell if you freed a black slave. It's such a shame, because the bible genuinely has great stories and teaches good values if you look in the right places, but I just can't trust it because how many have used its influence to commit the most disgusting of acts.

I'm a member of a progressive Christian congregation that saved my life in my faith journey. When I initially started going to that church, I was just pansexual, something I could keep hidden easily at my childhood church. When I learned a few years later that I was nonbinary, I was at my current church and it made me feel like God made me right, and not like I was going against Them or rebelling against my faith. I felt welcomed there and still do. I'm a very faithful person, which to the woman who gave me bible pamphlets after I cashed her out last week might find hard to believe, y'know, with my pronouns on my nametag and all. At least she wasn't talking faith, and she was actually a super kind happy person. She gave me those right as she was leaving. If I see her again, if she asks about those papers, I'll tell her a quick version of my story.

🤣🤣🤣 most people in the US don't like mega churches! We are just unfortunately surrounded by them and they're BIG AND LOUD! Just like football stadiums are big and loud. 🤣🤣🤣 You're genuinely hilarious. Liked and subscribed! On a serious note, let's be clear: I didn't rebel against my evangelical church I was raised in; I escaped it. And I don't know that anything can change cults.
