Sunday extra! Too much footage to waste this week so here's an overhead view of what went down with coffee and lunch breaks edited out. I meant to capture more of the steel but mis-set the camera on the block and it torched the battery. The GoPro gets really clear footage so check your settings to make sure you are on 4K:-)
All this footage came from part 11, so check it out here if you haven't seen it: • Modern House Part- 11 ...

@@ShredPile What is the max wind speed that you will operate your crane?
@ShredPile
@ShredPile 5 ай бұрын
I am the cautious sort and won't run if its above a steady 12ish because it usually means gusts to 20 and I always have plenty of other stuff to do:-) It's max recomened is 20mph but you just release the break and let it weathervane at that point. @@Z-Bart

Jake what size and make is your fast erect crane? I worked for Morrow Equipment Co for over 31 years and I know your in the Portland area, I’ve been to Portland and Salem a lot of times over those years. Did you buy this crane or are you renting it. It looks to be a 4 or 6 ton unit but it sure makes it easier to work by yourself building your house. They use these fast erect cranes in Europe a lot more than we do in the US, my first trip to Germany 25 years ago they were used everywhere and on almost any type of building over two stories. Great job Sir I enjoy watching your videos.

Hey thanks for that, It's a Benedini B618. Max lift 2200# out to 37' radius and then it tapers to 1300# at 59' radius. Stands up to 50' under the hook and there is a method to luff it for extra height but it cuts the payload by more than 50% to run uphill. I don't have the piece to make that happen and It looks like a pain to do. There is also a piece available to take 10 feet out of the boom for tighter jobs that I may try to track down or just make myself but I have a long list of other thngs not crane related to do first :-) it's footprint when up is only 12' or 6' radius and the inner limit is probably10' radius which can be a little trouble sometimes but no complaints. 1 speed trolley, 2 speed slew, 3 speed winch. Overall machine weight is 10k + 20k removeable counterweight. has jobsite axles to move it around and haul it off when i'm done. fits on a big rollback best but only CW forwards so this job was a tilt trailer CW backwards because of the hill. Runs off the 220v on the temp pole and is all remote with the exception of the erect controls which are direct manual hydraulic levers from the turntable. Machine came from Colorado but I flew to a few spots to look at others first in the same category before settling on and buying this one. As with any equipment there is always drawbacks or positives to everything and this one was just the best fit for me and the jobs I get although there were features on others I looked at that would be really nice too this was the best choice. There is a ton of really, really cool tech happening with these things in Europe right now. Lots of options and manufacturers and just searching 'self erecting tower crane' on youtube will keep a guy entertained for hours :-) Thanks for tuning in, see you in a week.

@@ShredPile Your correct about how many fast erect cranes there are I only worked with Liebherr, Potain, Terex, Commansa,and Wolff fast erects. Elevating the jib is really hard on motors and your correct cuts the capabilities down quit a bit. But you wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what you have by yourself without the crane.

Soooooo cooool! Umm, why does the crane need to be so high?
@ShredPile
@ShredPile 5 ай бұрын
It only has one height and one length. I have to put the camera on the trolley or the image stabilization can't keep up. I could put it up and film realtime but I would only have room for half a day's footage but i may be able to zoom it in some. Still playing around with it but for now, timelapse it is:-) Thanks for tuning in:-)
