Hey guys, I don't know what the owner had before so I can't compare, but this pour looks very nice. Now, I never thought that straight broom or picture frame was age related, so I guess that's why I absolutely love the picture frame. I'm 69. I absolutely loved the talk with the owner on the usage of salt. I'm a firm believer that if something is bad - at any time - it should not be used. I remember Tom and Donna walking through a parking lot in town and Tom scuffing the face off the concrete because of the salt damage. No, I would suggest exactly the advice Tom gave, use cat litter or sand. Either can be broomed off and rinsed in warmer weather. Salt, no matter the age of the pour, is not good. Not good in any way. Don't use salt. Concrete will last a life time if taken care of. Today's pour put a whole better look to the owner's home. It will outlive them. Why tarnish it with salt? Why uglyfie it with salt? One wouldn't pressure wash their wood siding with corrosive acids. The same care should be taken with your concrete. It's a permanent fixture to your home. It not only adds beauty, but also adds safety. The pipes you lay at the base, before the pour is so thoughtful, and we could see the care you add by covering the pipe with stone before the pour. Kudos for that!! Always making sure the rebar is on chairs or pulled up into the pour, holes drilled into the house and securely tied together is another trait that makes the pour as strong as it can be. Kudos for that too. TSH just does everything right. No skipping quality for an extra dollar. I've seen that for years now. It's no wonder TSH is called to the pours on such expensive homes. The best for the best!! Another quality video today, thank y'all very much. I'm looking forward to the next post.👍❤🙏

Drilling holes into brick or block and sliding rods in will not prevent the slab from pulling away from the house ! The rods can just slide out of the holes unless they are epoxied in ! If not epoxied in the rod must be incased in concrete in order to hold securely ! I would suggest if going into brick break out a half a brick then slide the rod in and with block break out a big enough hole to surround the rod with concrete !

As a telecomm employee, thank you for not hitting the drop! If only road crews could be so careful. Instead what road crews do is locate NOTHING and then dig right down the middle of a fiber backbone. Our most recent one was feeding an interconnect so it brought down three counties. 😂

Nice job Tom :) I was thinking, if it were me, i think i would run Pex Pipe through out the drive way and steps, so i could run hot water. or a hot antifreeze solution with a pump, etc to keep the sidewalks, steps and drive from icing, or snow build up. BUT i live in SE Texas, and right on IH 10 LA Border near the swamps lol and we do not get a lot of icing or snow; but about every few years. Always enjoy the videos. Excellent editing as well. ❤💯🙏

I was taught that with steps what ever the rise is it should be the same distance from the bottom of the riser down to the ground ! So with a 7 1/4 inch rise under the form should be 7 1/4 inches to the ground ! Anything thinner will crack where the riser meets the trend !
@ConcretewiththehausesАй бұрын
We usually pour about 5 inches under the riser seems to work pretty good

When we lived in Florida and had some concrete work done, we paid the contractor the full amount. Several days later I get a letter from the concrete company stating that they weren't paid. They said they would put a lein on our property. So naturally I called the contractor and he said don't worry about it, that his wife will pay it. I guess she did and never heard any more about it. I had a pad poured in Illinois for a hottub and I paid the contractor and never heard anything from anyone. Years before that we had concrete put in a new building and that day we paid our contractor and later on in the year after he was done with the job, the guys doing the concrete calls me and says he wasn't paid and so I gave him the contractors phone number. I guess that was the end of that. Kinda weird how people do business

Believe it or not there are so many fly by night contractors out there now. I recently had a back yard project which entailed retaining walls and concrete patio which turned out to be a disaster. The contractor damaged the house putting a hole in the bedroom wall, damaged the sliding glass door, splashed all the brick on the house, lost the load of concrete, which is broken up in my back yard. He has most of his money and I have a project that completely needs redone including the walls. Can’t go after him cause he has nothing. Lesson learned.

Steps have got to be the hardest to work and get right. Remove forms too soon or too late and you have major problems.

@henryfehr6202Ай бұрын
I don't like using screws for the purpose of not being able to remove them when needed. So I use screws to hold it together and then use duplex nails and remove the screws. Never have issues that way.

That broom is not meant for the steps..its meant to throw water from a bucket...it leaves a heavy rough nasty finish...
