This is a message from the future. The year is 2031. What is left of the modern format is dominated by Magic Aids decks. Even WOTC's attempt to go back in time to end his channel before 2020 failed. Please someone help us.

Modern is full of decks that can absolutely crush souls if sideboards start getting to meta-specific and not broad enough to cover basic strategies. There are four things one should always consider for a Modern sideboard: graveyard shenanigans, artifact/enchantment shenanigans, "lobotomy" effects, and player targeting (discard, burn, etc.). If a deck and/or sideboard can't handle these things, then its pilot should get ready for a blowout against decks/cards they thought were janky. I really appreciate Magic Aids reminding people that just because there are cards/decks not being played right now that they can't go out there and steal some games from unprepared players.

FYI spreading seas does shut Tron down. The Tron lands check for a subtype, not the card name. There's a hyphen in the power plant subtype and not the name, the text on the other two refers to power-plant, not power plant. The reason your opponent could play the thought-knot was that they had 4 mana.
@AlmostM6 жыл бұрын
Also, even though they re-assembled Tron later, they had 7 lands so they could cast World Breaker regardless of spreading seas or alpine moon.

Hey magic aids. Been loving your videos for awhile as somebody trying to get into modern. Just curious, do you think a tezzeret deck (dimir or sultai) would work in the meta rn?

Any card that costs 4-5 mana would be tough unless it's an instant win!
@jonathandurham3766 жыл бұрын
I guess I just figured with certain locks against creature decks (ensnaring bridge/ bottled cloister) you'd be pretty protected since it seems most top modern decks run creature strategies

Skyler Husak mono white enchantment prison, very similar deck but it’s win con was enduring ideal into form of the dragon. It was much similar to the list that’s featured in the beginning.
@joeyflint72326 жыл бұрын
Skyler Husak its an archetype that’s existed for a very long time in moderns history. I got of inspiration for my specific lists from forums that were from like 2012 and it’s even topped a few big events. I was trying to go red to splash for blood moon and also play the scry lands to get more consistency but it lost the mana accelerant which it needed for that specific iteration. I like this version a lot because of how much it digs and the fact that it can answer tron fairly well now
@Karminova536 жыл бұрын

At 24:10 you seemed to be confused about the spreading seas-tron lands interaction: tron lands look for the other sub-types, which spreading seas removes, so they do “work” against the tron lands. The tower at this time was not active, that’s why he only had three mana that turn. Only next turn, when he played a fresh power plant did it get active.

Why did both Porphyry Nodes die against the wurmcoil engine and thought knot-seer? Seems like I must have missed something. Also good to know that Porphyry Nodes works against Boggles.
