I saw you out there with Crowder in Portland, OR yesterday. I took my daughter and grandson. We were sitting 14 rows up to your right at about 2 o'clock. I told my daughter that I've been following your channel for a while. So she watched and listened to your playing and was quite amazed by the variety of instruments you play and the parts you added to each song. I wish Crowder had a longer set, but that's the type of show that it was. Stay healthy out there. It looks like a 7 hour drive to Nampa, ID and then home a few days before Thanksgiving.

Thanks! Glad you guys enjoyed the show. It’s been great being out west a bit. We usually stay on the eastern half except maybe once or twice a year

Nice playing in the intro. I use Amplitube 5 and Tonex on my home studio PC, I made some great stereo patches with the Amp 5 effects and both amp models. If ToneX could integrate those two softwares that would be my choice. I understand this pedal cannot save your stereo rigs but you can make them just no saving them,

Walrus ACS1 or the UA amp pedals already do pretty well if you don’t want a Cortex / Tonex / Kemper. Kemper was made by the Access Virus guy though so I imagine they’ll still be relevant in 20 years.

Reliability concerns aside (based on my direct experience with the Verbs), the ability to run two amps in stereo is damn appealing. I love the UI (loved it on the verbs) so that could tip me over on this once its been out long enough to hear about reliability etc. currently i use the UaFX dream 65 which is excellent but i could make a case for more options
@MichaelWWestbrook2 ай бұрын
It was very reliable for me after the last update before release. That includes long use sessions (over 6 hours of it running). Lots of great options for sure!

Great review. Most of the tone captures sound excellent, really very authentic. However, I appreciate your honesty and demonstration of some of the limitations. Not a criticism of the pedal, just setting expectations at a sensible level. More companies and reviewers should take that approach. Too many build sky high expectations, which often mean we can feel let down If we pull the trigger and go for it. As you say the JCM800 capture sounds pretty good, but it certainly isn’t the typical tone you would imagine, which would disappoint if that was ‘The Tone’ you really wanted from this pedal.

Thanks, I try to give my honest impression of things. Overall they did an incredible job on it and wouldn’t be surprised if there are updates in the future based on user feedback

does it take pedals well?
@MichaelWWestbrook2 ай бұрын
Haven’t done a ton of testing with pedals as I was getting to know the amps but the limited amount I did - Yes, similar to other devices. Stays dynamic and doesn’t squish or get flat.

Kinda overwhelming, for me at least. I wonder what it's competing against. To the midi savvy gurus, it would be a great pedal, but me, tweaking irs for iridium is plenty tough.

I think in some ways it’s more simple… set number of options at least. No changing IR’s, or captures. You get what you get.

Too much gimmicky marketing stuff on it. You're actually paying for the touchscreen when they could lower the price point, just putting knobs. Tis a silly pedal.
@MichaelWWestbrook2 ай бұрын
I could be wrong but my guess is it could actually be cheaper. It also kind of funny to me how many people I’ve seen hating on the touch screen. It works well and is easy to use.
@matthewearl98242 ай бұрын
@@MichaelWWestbrook Naw its cool. It's just maybe in a real world situation like gigging, the fewer mechanics implemented, the less it will fail. If that touch sensor goes out, the whole thing is trashed. If it is a dial, you can change that pot. But I do believe that the technology in this pedal has evolved quite a bit to the point that it is just as viable. Maybe I'm old school...even though I own all the Fractal products lol. Great review though.
@heymrguitarman76372 ай бұрын
I had the Verbs and whilst that things basically didn't work half of the time, the screen and UI was excellent. I was gutted to return it but that pedal just wasn't fit for release. However, if this is reliable then I think the UI makes it a really interesting option as it sounds very good on demos at least
@MichaelWWestbrookАй бұрын
I will say I’ve been using the Verbs as well and it’s been solid. Seems like they’ve worked out some kinks
@jaeger28Ай бұрын
I think it might be cheaper than actual knobs. Definitely cheaper than knobs with led circles to display actual values. If I can choose between this led touch thingy and knobs without value display, I might prefer this.
