Honestly my biggest gripe with modern Yugioh is just how rigid and dogmatic the tier list is. I just wanna have fun playing with this neat Dinosaur deck, and I will immediately lose because I run into one of the 10,000,000 million people who run the same deck that just says that you're opponent isn't allowed to play. I could run that deck. I could go to Google and find out what deck specifically counters that one and run it. But that's not fun. Its boring and I would rather just not play

This shows me exactly what I hate about modern yugioh. Instead of making a strong board that can battle anything, the endgoal became to interrupt and not allow the opponent to play as much as possible. Like you would be fine to play 100 Atk monster if you block every single card you opponent plays. This also forces one card combos to have to become more broken so you can play through all the negates, instead of trying to make the best out of your hand and invent strategies in the moment. Really making it hard for my love for the game to stay alive😢

But the deck can still bricknif you do t get the kaijus and/or the combo pieces nesecessary for the clean board otk. Of all tcg I have played (magic, pokemon, LoR and yugi) yu gioh is easiely the most luck base of them, the opening hand pretty much decides the whole game. The game needs to change its core rules to stop certain action to happen unlimeted amount of times per turn ( like limiting negates to only 2 per game) and to create more deck that are actually strong going second.

For me modern yugioh sucks ass. I've seen the arguments of modern players of how "before traps and magic cards where the focus and strategies were generic, now monsters are also the focus and there is actual strategy". The problem however is that it doesn't really matter, because the game is not fun or special and there are no concequences on the game (I'll explain this later) anymore. For the fun part, turns take ages, wow, so fun to watch the oponent take 20 minutes to play 1 freaking turn. It's also SOOOO MUCH fun having to do freaking homework to play, because now it seems every freaking card that comes out has a whole bible written on it, where the effects almost specify what effect applies for every week of every month of the year and what weather. For the special part. People can just play their entire decks in 1 or 3 turns, which has made the game lose that feeling when you got a big combo in the classic game, because now you can put together a deck that combos half of your deck every turn! UUUGHHHHH! Finally the concequence part. Of course this could not apply to the higher levels of play where every decision matters, but I've been playing in YUGIOH Master duel lately and it just seems that there are so many decks where it doesn't matter what you do, you just can't get ridd of an anoying card, because now the banish zone is not removed from the game, no no no, it's just a glorified graveyard that can be accesed so easily by so many cards, so it almost doesn't really matter how many cards you banish from a reckless oponent, oh no, they can just bring them right back to their hands or field with every other card in their deck. Now, maybe the game is better competitively, but I honestly don't give a shit about that. If you enjoy the game that's fine, but I just wanted to rant a little and see how many agree.
@jimmymeinhart4265 Жыл бұрын
Master Duel needs an era/gen separated game mode. I say this as someone who runs a Utopia/XYZ deck which is a negate-fest, 3 minute long turns, and setting up for the OTK. Games I play are lucky to go to 4 turns, whether I win or lose since the victor is determined almost immediately with sometimes as much as a single Ash Blossom. I wish I didn't have to play this way. I recently came back to Yugioh after probably around 7 years. Pendulums were the most broken cards, but people rarely played them. XYZ and Synchro were reasonably strong with decent balance. Games were actually games, lasting a good amount of time, with lots of unpredictability, and solidifying a strong foothold took a lot of work and some luck. You could play most styles and decks and you could expect a good fight. I just hate modern Yugioh, I still have fun, but I would love to have the experiences I had back then. The power creep is just insane now. On a lighter note, I want true team play in Master Duel. YGoPro had it back then, and it was lots of fun trying to work around a partner with a deck completely foreign to you.

My personal favorite card was Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon, I loved Pegasus in the anime. Honestly, I couldn't get into Yu-Gi-Oh after GX. I hated that they constantly kept adding new card types and the effects became so damn absurd. Would LOVE a classic rerelease with the original rules. Call it "Duel Monsters" in reference to the cartoon. I've recently been playing Duel Academy on the Gameboy Advanced. If I want to play by original rules, GBA and DS games are where I have to go now unfortunately.
@elhajjmalikel626611 ай бұрын
Yeah. The effects have gotten insane. The game is mostly negating and destroying. I miss when you needed special Magic and/or Trap cards for that. On top of that, the amount of summoning per turn is outrageous. I miss when you could bring any type of deck and have a decent-to-competitive duel. A lot of these cards now would be limited and/or banned a few years ago because of how unbalanced the effects are.

I think some of the main issue with getting new players and returning players to actually stay is The game is very different from what it used to be ( or atleast how most people used to play it with friends) It's very easy and quick to see how a game will go. I had an extremely interesting thought. How would the decks of old Yu-Gi-Oh characters, such as Bonz or Rex Raptor, look if they were upgraded to modern-day Yu-Gi-Oh?
@blastchaos42864 ай бұрын
Iconic is a relatively objective thing. The answer is obviously Dark Magician or Blue-Eyes White Dragon. They are the most popular monsters, hence iconic. If you were to ask what our favorite monster was, you'd be likely to get a lot more varied responses. For example, my favorite monster is Beyond the Pendulum. Not only because I play a lot of Pendulum decks in which she is a staple, but also because she is based on Ray. If you don't know her, she is the character in Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V who originally defeated Z-ARC. She split his soul into 4 pieces and scattered them across 4 different dimensions, but also split her own soul into 4 pieces to act as protectors of those 4 fragments of Z-ARC's soul, making sure they never come together again. Her and her Link 3 version Exceed the Pendulum being staples in Pendulum decks is very thematic because Z-ARC himself was the creator of Pendulum Monsters, so it's like she is there to watch over them. I'm in my late 20's and grew up watching Yu-Gi-Oh from Season 1 onward, so you would think my favorite would be something from my childhood but it's not. I kept up with Yu-Gi-Oh all these years, and I have experiences from throughout it's lifespan. I feel like a lot of people fell off of Yu-Gi-Oh for some time and come back due to nostalgia. But that very same nostalgia is causing them to stay stuck in the past, preventing them from growing with the game and enjoying it for what it is, not what it was.

MOST iconic card is tough. Yu-Gi-Oh! has a ton of super iconic monsters. For me, no card stuck out in my mind as a kid more than Exodia. He's massive, had a dope-ass design, and he just wins the duel for you when you assemble all of his pieces. I really wish we had more support for his archetype, but it's difficult to do that effectively when the archetype's "boss monster" is a win con in and of itself. (Literally since 3.0 of the rulebook Exodia's effect was listed as a win con in the rulebook by name, adding to its claim as the most iconic card imo). Maybe someday we'll see tier 0 Exodia. Maybe someday.

Cards just do too much alone. There's no reason one card can summon itself. And then search. And then when it dies it summons another card that does the same thing. Meanwhile you play heroes and they are good at destruction. That's about it. And high attack swings. But who cares cause whatever I swing at... Had already searched his next combo card and is about to summon another card that can negate my monster on my turn and then summon another card. Then then next card can search and do slightly less. I'm going second and they set up a whole field of monsters that do 3 things. Each card. Meanwhile... I gotta try and get rid of cards with 2 or three effects on top of lingering effects. It's kinda impossible. It woild he great if they made an old school format to play. At least I'll feel like I lost becsuse of actual skillful plays. Now I just lose to on card outs that start a 6 card combo.

Lets not kid ourselves, its not my favorite, but the most iconic is definitely Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Iconic doesnt mean best, it means most recognizable, which fits Blue-Eyes to a T. My personal favorite is Stardust Dragon. Not as iconic though

For me, It's either Blue-eyes or Dark Magician Girl. As someone who only got into Yu-Gi-Oh with the released of Master Duel, I've always seen or heard of the two cards either in memes, passing mentioned of other Anime stuff, fan arts, and of course, cosplay. And then I've got to play the game, and boy, was there are so much more than that.

Most iconic? Has to be Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Blue-Eyes was used a bunch in the first anime and every time it came out, it was treated as a HUGE deal.

Dark Armed Dragon. “That’s my dad” is one of my favorite quotes from one of my oldest friends. He played Yugioh too, so the first time I summoned that on him, I said “That’s my D.A.D.”. He almost died laughing

Blue eyes white dragon HAS to be the most iconic. People that don’t even know yugioh will know that dragon when they see him so long as they grew up in that era. Its definitely blue eyes for me, also my favourite archetype so maybe a bit bias lol

Man for me The most iconic monster has to be Dark Magician Girl because if you see that girl on screen anywhere you immediately know who it is not to count out DM AND BEWD But she’s def iconic in her own right

Most iconic is easily blue eyes, because what other card game is gonna have a card with 3000 attack?😂 Anyways, glad i caught an upload early, wanted to say that I've been really enjoying your yugioh content! Thanks!

3:55 Rank 8 spam (sometimes) will play Iris with Ecclesia because it's access to another level 8. Also, they usually play Sage with it so it'll still summon from deck, even if Ecclesia isn't on the field after being targeted for Sage's effect.

Most iconic monster? At least for me I’d say BLS. When ever it’s on screen it’s just so dope and dragon master knight lives in my head rent free

It always made me laugh that the most important haters of FTK decks were players like this 13:28. To oppose the fact that you are not even given the opportunity to start your own turn, but at the same time play with a deck that does not allow opponent to do anything, the only difference is that you can start your turn. FTK decks are stopped by almost all famous hand traps in the game which are found in almost all decks, while the full bounce-negate board can only be countered by one card - Dark Ruler No More. Shame to all meta players.

The Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl are prolly most iconic, I didn't even know about Blue eyes (Before gettin into yugioh) But I knew about the magicians. Although I also knew about kuriboh...

I feel like if they banned every card that has the word "negate"in it, then it would be way more balanced.

Gonna say Blue eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician. Side note- I’m trying to make my own theme decks for ranked, and keep getting stomped by pendulums and synchro summons. Turn 1 and I’m still waiting 30 min. to play while they keep sacrificing, tributing, and bringing out multiple 3-4,000 fusion monsters who can banish and negate anything I try to summon. Still in silver, by the way.😂

In my opinion it’s any Egyptian God, and Exodia. Seeing yugi summon exodia was one of my top three favorite moments in the whole show. And I just love the Egyptian Gods, especially obelisk

The powercreep is too much. Competitive players are too competitive. If it doesnt FTK its not viable. Now we need removal that doesnt even activate and sacrifices my opponents boss rather than actually beat through it. oh and dont forget handtraps, why even use quick play spells or traps when i have to wait til turn 2 to use it?

Dark magician is iconic, simply because that's Yugi's card. For me, however, I'll never not think of the Blue Eyes White Dragon when it comes to Yugioh
