I get really tired of all these "Your life is whatever you decide to make it" videos. Some of us have significant health issues, are in financially desperate situations that prevent us from doing what we would need to do to get a better job, or have family problems that mean we have no support. If I could just decide to change my life, I would. However, that would require a level of health I'll never have, money that I have no way of obtaining, and support from people who don't care about me. All these self-help videos start to feel like victim blaming after awhile. In the end, that's how these channels keep making money off of our views. They keep us thinking that our problems are all our own fault, and if we just keep watching their videos and buying their courses, we'll figure out how to be better people and have our dream lives. Their business model focuses on maintaining our belief that change is possible when the fact of the matter is that it not only isn't always but typically isn't.

I think the point is to set goals that are within our control, and not get lost in the idea of what we “should” be doing. For example, someone with limited mobility, respectively, may not be able to go skydiving, but they can still choose to stay healthy, stay in contact with family, or continue a writing habit. This is analogous to the common person wishing to be a billionaire where it will statistically simply not happen. I appreciate your comment and hope you have a great day!

you can rise above all that. don’t let your circumstances dictate your success.

@@NathanielStockwell This is a very thoughtful and accurate comment. It can be really hard when life is feeling like it's beating you up, but I have seen time & again that the only way I have been able to move forward is when I start letting myself feel better about what I do have. Being happy I can see, I've had to recover from a life-changing brain injury. But, finding gratitude for what I have, taking time to rest when I need to, celebrating victories and doing a whole lot of deep inner work, energy healing, meditation, prayer and being open to believing & knowing that there are really nice things, simple things about life has all helped a lot. Wishing you all well in creating a life that feels good to you. ❤
