@@lukemiani And in these car chargers (tested a few), the USB-C PD is almost never working on phones with type C. Never works with my S24U or 15PM, but it always works with USB-A, like you showed in the video. Also, it always works with lighting phones (USB-C ->> Lighting), never ever had single problem. I guess Apple owning Lighting is the reason to be so reliable, since USB-C PD is a mess.

@@lukemiani i have never seen any cigarette lighter plug usb adapter that looks diffrent to the one you had working on the video. i have always used a cigarette lighter to charge my ipad or phone in car its so weird that some people just havent owned a car without usb ports to charge like cars that isnt new or high end to have that feature. you complaining about battery life at all was fake as fuck too like there is no way you did that for anything other than to extend watchtime. i have always used dashboard mounts and such too but they do not work for long term they always pop off. just use a vent mount and put your phone on there vertically dont use it on landscape. you dont need ac blowing onto your face and how hot your phone is doesnt matter if you use it under sunlight its just a phone. when you have it vertical it works perfecly fine your mistake was using apple maps and landscape mode. use google maps. its so funny to watch you use apple maps in Europe nobody uses apple maps here. apple really doesnt care about making apple maps work everywhere beacuse they cant ever make poeple switch to apple maps even if they made it useable here which they dont but people never used apple maps here ever so we arent even going to try it. there is lots of places and cities with insanely cursed roads that apple maps has no way to understand these sort of roads doesnt really exist in its home region i guess lmao. if you have an android phone too you can also check out how the car mode works in maps with spotify call message integration and stuff but this isnt on lower end androids or iphones. also dont know if that feature is still that way havent used an android since switching to iphone a year ago. also off topic but iphone's positioning system is terrible compared to android like when i was using an android phone it always was very accurate with snapping to roads and with the direction the phone was facing but the iphone doesnt have that at all its like just an approximation it feels like compared to the accuracy of android in this case

Awesome! I think the major reason that you don't see the iPad setup as much is that, while you can just take your phone with you when you leave the car at a mid-journey stop, it's a little more cumbersome to do so with a product as large as an iPad. I'd be afraid of theft while I was out shopping or eating, especially in an older car that's easy to break into. Also, hiding the device, while easy, still typically leaves behind the telltale suction cup mark on your windshield, still making you a potential target. Having said that, if you're willing to tote the device around with you whenever you exit the vehicle, this seems like a great idea!

Now what a surprising fun video Luke made here featuring two of the old style classics Mercedes Benz W124! 😎 I even have a friend here in the country where these two classics come from, who has one of them as a very comfortable, reliable "daily driver", as they say. He bought his Mercedes Benz W124 3.0 litre 6 cylinder (all available extras were fitted when the car was built in 1991) 2 years ago and the car has just this week passed the mandatory 2 yearly safety inspection for roadworthiness and technical suitability without any problems! He drives it to and from work 5 or 6 times a week and consumes 8.5 litres of petrol per 100 km, which is very good for such a car. And there is an Apple iPhone SE, which is not only used in its original function as a mobile phone, but also runs Google Maps, which is attached to the dashboard just like in Luke's car and supplied with power in case someone gets lost on the roads ... Greetings from Germany!

The idea of having no 'cupholders' in the car, is that you're not supposed to drink something in the car. You have to drive the car. If you want to drink something, you stop at a restaurant and get a drink. Without ice cubes.
@jimcabezola30519 күн бұрын

Both were totaled. On my Mercedes, the trunk lid opened and a headlight fell out of its bracket. I had whiplash because I had turned my head towards my customer, she had nothing. I still believe there should be a mode on iPads and iPhone where you can just turn them into having the Carplay interface on their own screen. It would make navigating between music and maps and so on much easier and would be a gamechanger for old cars. I have an old BMW z3 it has a Bluetooth adapter on its Original Radio. If I would have an Ipad Mini that just shows carplay I would basically have the perfect infotainment setup.

I don't quite recommend using OLED device as a navigation. They tend to burn-in a lot faster in high heat. LCD devices don't have such problem. I'm rocking my old Moto g7 Power as a navigation phone because of that. It can withstand heat of being left on a windshield phone holder for a few hours in 35°C sunny day and still display navigation at the highest possible screen brightness. Whereas iPhone 12 mini dims it screen to the point I can't see anything. It's so to prevent burn-in.
